Latch to stop rear seats folding down under braking

My rear seats in my 1972 coupe seem to have nothing that stops the seat backs folding down. If I brake, both rear seat backs fold down. Should there be some kind of latch or locking mechanism that stops this? My car seems to have nothing fitted at the moment.

I would appreciate if anyone can forward pics or part numbers for this part, if it exists.

Small strap on the rear of the seat which is buttoned to the metal cross member on the rear parcel shelf.

Check the top edge toward corner of your seat backs. They used a 3 to 4 in leather strap with female snap. Male snap is on cross member as just mentioned. These straps can wear out, get torn off or left off during reupholstery jobs
