    Importing cars to Australia

    Hello all,

Does anyone know if it is still allowed to import pre 70's 911's or 912's to Australia. I have tried finding an exemption list but it seems a little bit of a grey area.

    Thanks

    Jim

No problem at all. I think the cut off is 30 years old, only thing is you have to purchase a car before you apply for an import permit and have to have the import permit before you ship it over here..

Info is on the net, but when I last looked all cars manufactured before January 1989 were eligible. As Rob suggests getting the paperwork sorted is important. The exemption list applies post 89 I believe.

+1 on what Chris said, anything prior to January 1st 1989 can be done no worries. But again as Chris highlighted you need the paperwork in place, import permits etc...and proper ownership transfer docs etc if you wish to register the car later on. Depending where you live, you maybe able to register the car lefthand drive. In nsw the car needs to be over 30 years old to be able to register in lefthand drive.
