    Gearbox bolt removal.... Or not?

    Hi,

I am rebuilding a 3.0 SC engine for my 1970 T. I recently bought the engine but one of the gearbox studs was left in the engine. The person i bought it off clearly tried to remove it, presumably with mole grips, but failed. I have no reason to remove it and don't think the mild damage to the stud will cause any issues or weakness (the thread is not damaged) but I'd be interested in your opinions... Ok to leave or get it replaced?

    Many thanks

Have you tried the gearbox over that stud to see if its too long ? Sure looks that way to me. So you may need to buy the proper stud removal tool. As to the damage on the stud , file it smooth, won't hurt anything.
