    Early Door Seals

There seems to be several vendors offering the original style early door seals all profiles look correct but who makes the best quality seal? Or are they all the same? The International Mercantile makes a seal but it's the later 74+ profile.

Here's some links to what's available:

Early cars had round profile seals with fine ribs. They changed to a flatter profile seal for LWB cars in 69 and again for 73. Not sure if anyone sells the original 65-68 style anymore with ribs, but we'll find out...

The hollow ones are not period correct but will seal your doors. The others, solid, will not. The Hollow ones fit perfect but are a later design. For me the whistle of air with the ones I got from Stoddard drove me crazy. Put them in a box and bought the modern ones....no air leaks at all.

Apparently the old, solid ones have a design flaw where they leak at the leading edge of the door frame. Originally the seals had a wider portion there. For some reason the new, old stock, do not and leak air like a sieve. Scary how much I know about door seals ;-).

If its a driver, go with the hollow ones. If concorse, go with solid though it takes a special eye to tell the difference.
