Color on car does not match Kardex

Here is a puzzle. The car, a '68 Targa, has a lot of original paint on the inside floor, underside of hood and on the latch panel. This paint is somewhere between burgundy and aubergine. But the Kardex says 6802, which is Polo Red.

Has anyone here seen a car factory-painted a different color than the Kardex indicates?

    Paint tag is missing.

Found evidence of Polo Red under some interior trim

I've rarely seen such a thorough color change.

I've had my detective hat on over the last year investigating one of my cars and a major discrepancy on the Kardex. Considering what I've discovered, an incorrectly listed paint code wouldn't surprise me one bit.

    LOL

Not me, a friend. But yeah, had him fooled big time. Repaint was super thorough and very old.

It's a hard window 68L Targa built 7/29/68. One of the last ones...

Color on Kardex does not match color on car? The Kardex MUST be wrong. You know, there are people who can get that incorrect Kardex changed for you...

WTF is going on with this place???

Apologies on this. The car is 4 states away and I was trying to help the new owner without having seen the car myself. Took him a couple days to find the red.
