    For a 7" x 15" front and 8" rear should I look for a 7R?

I am hoping to put 7" upfront and an 8" (15") on the rear of my 69T 911. I dont want a crazy wide look but just a bit more stance with deeper fuchs and as small a roll as possible on the original arches up front and a slight arch at the rear to take the 8".

Sorry for being ignorant but Im not entirely sure what the 7R wheel is and whether this will be benificial upfront. I think that it means the depth at the front side of the wheel remains the same and the extra width is on the inside edge, if this is correct this wouldn't be beneficial as it would not look any deeper and might make the turning worse (or am I wrong?).

Really like the zuffenhaus 15" x 8" but they dont seem to sell a 7" so not sure where to get that and which type would be best upfront.

    Many thanks for any help

The 7R wont look any deeper, The other issue with an 8 is fit. On a standard body car the
15x8 takes a lot of camber to work. Most would argue that it still wont fit

Size: 125.3 KBThe 7R has the extra 1" all on the inside and can not be used without a spacer or it will rub ( front or rear). The beauty of this is you can select your spacer to get the right fit. But you need longer studs with spacers. And the wheels are pricey.

A 6" Fuchs has an offset of 36mm. If you find a 36mm 15x7" wheel (good luck) it will have 1/2" more width inside and outside... Centerline of the wheel stays in the same place. Fuchs 7" wheels (except the 7R) have the extra inch on the outside and sit too close to the fender lip. I believe they have a 23mm offset.

I was looking for the same more filled out wheel wells as you and ended up running a VTO 16x7 minilite type on the front and rear of my '74 with a 205/55-16. The wheels have a 35mm offset. The rear fit is perfect. At the front they sat a little to close to the strut dust cover so I removed the dust cover to prevent rubbing. I also rolled the front lips a little to be safe. With a 195 this probably wouldn't be needed.

8" on the rear is ambitious unless your car sits very high and you have no oil cooler plumbing in the right rear wheel well.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks very much for your responses.

Sounds like I might be better with 6" upfront. I saw on another site an image of the deep 6 and that has the look that I am after. What 7" rear would give the most deep look? Mike, would that be the standard 7" you mentioned?
    Many thanks!

A deep 6 on the front and a 7R on the rear (also a "deep"wheel) would look best. Then you'd space the 7R to fit, probably a 15mm spacer which I think is the thinnest bolt to bolt spacer you can get, if you don't want to install longer studs.

Do a search for a picture of Boba's '69 911E. He has the ATE 5 spoke 15x7ET35 wheels front and rear which look great.

I have 7R's on the front of my car and 8x15's on the rear, but i do have RS flares on the rear. I think it looks pretty good.

Interesting point about the oil lines though. My car is a 70T so doesn't have an oil cooler, but i'm in the process of putting ina 30SC engine and will fit a cooler. I think Patrick Motorsport do some custom plumbing for wider rear wheels to avoid fouling. Name: image.jpg

Not a great photo, but its raining today and i didn't want to get wet.

The car is riding quite high for Polish roads, but when i bought it in Germany it was running very low (10cm lower), so it only had 7cm of road clearance.

Elephant also make oil lines for the rear fender area that allow more tire clearance than the factory lines.

    15x7

I run 15x7 wheels on the front of my '75...but I'm running a lot of negative camber.
