Any way possible to still obtain a copy of the actual Kardex?

I understand for privacy reasons (and other?) that one can now only obtain redacted data from the original Kardex via the CoA program from PCNA, but is that restriction only in the US? If I am in Germany (or some other European country), can I still request a copy of the actual Kardex?

I may be taking an expat assignment in Germany soon, and this would provide the opportunity if still possible.

No, it is the German laws that restrict the release of personal info on the Kardex. Besides that, the Kardex as we know it seems to only exist into 1970. After that it appears to be computer records.

    Davep,
Thanks for clarifying. So is it safe to assume that at least as much information that was captured on the Kardex is also captured in the computer records? For example, do the computer records contain the details of the interior trim for each VIN? And how much of the information from the computer record actually makes it onto the CoA?

I had the CoA for my '77 (lost in a basement flood or subsequent move), but I don't recall there being as much detail as I've seen on the (decoded) Kardex images. I recently (re)ordered the CoAs for the '77 and '73T. Mainly I'm curious to see if the '73 contains details on the seat material. I guess I'll find out soon.

If you do a search here, you will find a lot about Kardex acquisition options. Not sure about 73 car though. I got a copy of mine recently from a board member. Good luck with the research.

I did perform a search here (and on Pelican) before posting, but all the results I found seem to indicate that the people who received an image of the Kardex, did so years (decades?) ago. Did PCNA start the "Certificate of Authenticity" program at the time when obtaining the actual Kardex image was discontinued? I ordered my first CoA from PCNA back in 1999, so I assume the practice of providing Kardex information ended sometime prior to that?

I did not find his post originally as I did not search the "General Info" forum.
