KONI decals / stickers
Gents,
this thread got me thinking and since it's a for sale thread I won't hyjack it any further;
http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...ad.php?t=33179
Do I have the correct KONI decals on my shocks? I thought I needed the triangle version with the shock with a round eye at each end;
http://www.shotimes.com/logos/koni.JPG
But the mentioned thread does have a point about this one;
http://www.brandsoftheworld.com/bran...0446/brand.gif
I actually have seen both been used on early 911's.
Also in this thread there's a set for sale which uses "my" decal;

So question is, what is correct or were the decals mixed in the sixties?
Thanks in advance!

I have these SWB rears dated 1971 that have the old style decal. When did the triangle sticker start?

I have doubts that the triangle stickers were used on the shocks until much later than our cars.

According the info I got from Koni they started the triangle in the mid sixties...
The shocks for sale in the mentioned thread have these;

to make it more confusing...

Hi Semjon,
This thread shows a set of Koni struts date coded January 1967. The struts have the winged logo decal.

The picture you posted of the front strut inserts may be replacements made by Koni at a later date possibly in the 70's or 80's.
Best regards,
Brad

koni decals
i stumbled on this thread while looking for koni decals for my shocks.
i have a 73 911s which has koni shocks. i've had the car for about 11 years and i believe, although i cannot prove, that these are the original shock absorbers. the rear shoks have, just barely visible up in the tube that surrounds them, the white triangle decals.
i found that these are still available from koni at http://www.koni-na.com/apparel.cfm?level=1&category=D
the older decals with the wings are available at sierramadrecollection.com
by the way, koni has apparently said, for anyone wishing to repaint their old koni shocks or struts, that the correct paint is plastikote chevrolet orange engine enamel (200).
