Just caught this over on Atlas F1 TNF. Color footage from the 1970 Le Mans 24. More footage of the 'hippie' 917 than I've seen ever seen before!

Thanks for the heads up Carl. Sometimes we get so caught up in the movie, we forget about the real race in 1970!
Thanks for the Le Mans link...found this photo there...no more characters like these drivers to be found...
Great Link....Oh-Baby...I like this character.../ Lars...
Exactly... even more so b/c McQueen really didn't use the cars that finished 1 & 2 in the actual race.
Most of the photos you guys are posting were taken by Rainer Schlegelmilch which are available on his website in a slightly larger format:

Anyone ever seen this???...
I found it on Flickr. It was running in a vintage race at Hockenheim. It is listed as a:
"Porsche Celia AC7" F2 and ran from 1971-3.
Dear all,
Thausands Thanks for all the fantastic images on the forum here, it is such an inspiration for me.
I'm a Designer doing artworks related to histo. Porsche "im Rennen".
I'm looking intensively to some good shots of historic races, from the 50s to the 80s.
At the moment, I have to realise some work related to the Brand "Gulf", therefor I'm looking for very good historical images of any car or background (Porsches or not, Targa Florio,Le Mans) cariyng the brand Gulf .
Any person helping me will receive a limited edition print of the artwork on canvas .
I'll post later some pictures of my past works...
Best Regards,
P.Tijé
Were did you get the photos for the artwork? Did you take them yourself?
