Funny, we can get away with H4 lights but the Feds cracked down on blue brake fluid.
When the Feds crack down on H4s will the sugar scoop hoarders have the last laugh ; )
H4 on lens hardly needs much more knowledge to enforce than checking fluid colour : )
How about interchanging USA lights betwixt 65 & 73? Would this be considered as ‘approved’?
Actually, I only have lights without the H4. Just early headlight housings with fenneling & the clear type USA & a set of H1’s that have no designation.
Forgot, I have a set of H4’s that fit inside a USA 67’ headlight unit?
Through 1967, DOT required sealed beams, but there were no regulations regarding glass outer lenses. As of Jan. 1, 1968, headlights under glass were prohibited. Hence the 'sugar scoops' on 911/912's for '68-86.
Could you legally interchange? Hard to say, as I've not researched the regs extensively. Probably technically illegal to retrofit glass covered lights to '68-up cars, but again I can't really imagine that any one would really get into trouble for doing so.
