Yeah, that was the problem Aaron. JB sort of forgot about the tires once he was strapped in. Why did they allow the car on gravel with those tires to begin with (even with one of the best drivers in the world) - accident waiting to happen

and the handlers didn't let the new one out on the gravel after this incident either.....
kinda funny :
a new car with no earned pedigree, and Audi's ability to let a few more of these out of the womb at any moment with a wave of their hand, so the poor Sport Q gets bonked, loaded on the truck , barely any tears shed....... ??????
what am I missing here ? I certainly would have hoped for more respect for the ol' girl
Since Curt started this and I haven't posted in like a looong while, here are some sport quattro info.
The quattro club hired me to design the 2004 20th Frank Beddor National graphics, poster design and logo held at Brainerd, MN. They flew me out from Vermont. After arriving, I got to help trailer Steve Beddor's white sport quattro to the track with Keith Anderson from Channhassen to Brainerd (not stock at ALL by any way shape or form). Joe Jeppsen, Steve's personal mechanic mentioned something about having lots of Lehmann parts on it... to the tune of 450+hp.
Once there I met up with fellow local Vermonter's Allie and Brian Oldfield who trailered John Buffum's Audi S2 quattro all the way from Vermont. This is the Audi S2 that John Buffum came back out of retirement and won the Camino del Inca rallye with in 1995. I illustrated a limited edition print of this win and these are signed by John (see poster Frank made to welcome Paul - JB was supposed to be there...). Paul Choinere and wife Wendy were there too. I mostly shot photos, but helped Brian get the S2 sorted. It had short gears and hit redline in 5th exiting turn 10 onto the straight. Looked the riot with red mudflaps sailing away bouncing off the rev limiter.
Randy Pobst was the invited guest driver that Audi sent. Funny, he had more fun flogging a new 911 GT3 than any other car there. I later got a ride in the Steve's white sport quattro and we easily clocked 155+mph entering turn 1, the big 15 deg banked at the end of the straight. Steve was also testing his Ruf CTR there along with the sport.
Cheers, Thompson

and isn't the sunset up there just unparalled ? AWESOME stuff. All
oh,
the other big news from BIR is :
the owners have just finished a major repave and widening of the track with major new improvement on the track surface, its about entirely surrounded now with concrete berming around the old 3 mile track, and as can also be noted, as not seen in your video's : the new short track of 2 miles which comes off after 6 and doubles back inside, has also been added.
LOTs of Great new improvements added up at Brainerd, as an awesome track has been made even more awesome. Can't wait till spring and check out the change to the new surface ..... you all come back again real soon !
that kind of work is way over due at brainerd. good to hear.
