The night before RR7, The Hyatt lobby, Mark and I had a truly great time, talking Porsche, club events, and our friendship over the years. He even went out to his car and got his jacket, just to show me... We closed the bar that night, the last two to leave...I'll never forget you MM...
Nice memory to have Ernie
He was the biggest goober in the best possible way. I loved that guy. Always enthusiastic, always smiling, always so nice to be around. He went through some really tough times a few years back, but he seemed to come out of it with his head held high.
This fucking sucks.
I've had a Prototipo that I bought from him here on the Registry in my car for a couple years, plus some t-shirts and stickers. I finally got to meet him in person at RR7 and we had several great conversations as we bumped into each other a few times. My wife (also a graphic designer) and Mark discussed old-school print design techniques, and I pored over the many details of his car with him. What a gentleman and a character with an encyclopedic knowledge, keen design sense, and completely badass OG hotrod. I'm thankful I was able to meet him in person, and will not forget the experience. Godspeed and RIP.
Shocked to see this tonight, I first met him when he persuaded me to do a write up of my RS for the magazine - just a lovely guy.
RIP Mark.
So very saddened by this. Mark was kind, enthusiastic and a very good sport. He who sleeps with steering wheels. We played a few practical jokes on rallies, like changing one of his beautiful steering wheels for a small white grant, and he took it all in stride with a smile as he knew we caredAttachment 606293. Sleep well, my friend.
He will be missed.
Oh no. He was a dear friend. Love you, man.
Mark was iconic to me, a real source of inspiration on the P world. Cannot believe he passed away. Each time there was a thread on a MOMO steering wheel, he was jumping on it.
Then he set up that stickers thing, and I bought tons of those to support his "business"...
Do we know when is the funeral ? Could we do something, kinda gesture : flowers, steering wheels honor, something ?
Am so sad.
