History: This is a time capsule. This car was purchased in 1972 by the previous owner it remained in their possession until recently. It has been sitting in his garage unused for the past 25 years or so. It spent its life in California and still has a clean California title ready to hand off to its new owner. It is a very original car that has been well maintained over the years.
Exterior: The exterior of this car is very original and it still has all of its original body panels. It has never been in an accident and there is no rust on the car. The floor pans are all original and in excellent shape. There is no rust, incorrect jacking on the pans. It was stored in a dry garage out of the elements. This car did receive paint work in 1978. It still has its original paint in the jams, under hood etc. The doors, hood and deck lid all open and close properly.
Engine/Transmission: This car still has its original MFI numbers matching engine. This car has been sitting for many years and it is in need fresh fluids, MFI service etc. The top end was done recently prior to sitting. It was in running condition when parked, and it starts with gas being poured down the intakes. It turns over smoothly. The Sportomatic transmission had a leaky seal and that was the reason why it was parked. I was informed that it should be looked at prior to driving.
Wheels/Brakes: This car comes with all 5 of its original Fuchs wheels. The brakes work properly and this car is equipped with the optional alloy calipers. This car rolls and steers very easily.
Interior: This has all of its original gauges, crack free dash, targa top etc. The carpets and seats have been changed to a later 911 style.
Overall: This car comes with its original tool kit. This car was mainly driven by the owner’s wife as it was fitted with all of the creature comforts, AC, Sportomatic transmission etc. It would make a wonderful restoration candidate, or weekend project.

Auction Description:
*Handsome original color combination
*Recent arrival in the US market
*First year of the long wheelbase 911
This 1969 911E Coupe left Karmann's Osnarbrück production facility in the summer of 1969 sporting burgundy paint over a black interior, the same combination it possesses today. Fitted with fog lights, alloy Fuchs wheels, and its original golden badging, this example of Porsche's most renowned sports car is very well presented throughout. At some point, its original engine was replaced with a period correct unit but its fuel injection system was replaced with a throaty set of Weber carburetors.
With its handsome color combination and excellent details, this well sorted coupe is equally suited to be passionately driven and deliver Porsche's inimitable driving dynamics to the driver as it is to be shown at marque and club events within the active Porsche Club.

BaT Description:
Located in Scottsdale Arizona, this 1971 Porsche 911E Targa was recently purchased from an Arizona estate where it had been in long term storage. The seller brought the car back to running condition and verified that the original numbers matching 2.2L engine and dogleg 5-speed transmission are still installed, along with A/C as confirmed by the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. The original mechanical fuel injection was replaced sometime in the past with an early PMO conversion kit with Weber IDA carburetors. The car was made roadworthy with relative ease, as the fuel system had been drained prior to storage and the timing and carburetors remained in tune. It retains many of its original features and is currently in good driver condition with an older respray that still presents well.
The exterior has had at least one older respray in the original Gold Metallic. The paint remains in good condition with only minor flaws. A magnetic paint gauge found no evidence of filler anywhere and upon close inspection the seller believes all the sheet metal to be original.
Some minor flaws are present in the paint, all of which can be seen in the gallery below. These include one pea sized paint bubble under the rear glass, an area of cracked paint with surface rust evident on the upper driver’s side rocker, and some cracked paint and bent sheet metal near the radio antenna. There are also small dings where the Targa pins have made contact with the Targa bar and a small dent on the rear lower valance where the license plate installs. The body rubber is in good condition and the exterior lights, bumpers, and trim are all intact and look sharp. The original 15×6 “Deep Six” Fuchs wheels remain on the car and are in good unrestored condition. New Yokohama tires in 195/65/R15 were recently installed.
The interior is in good original condition with no tears or obvious wear in the Brown Leatherette seats, which appear to be original. There is one very small 1/4″ crack in the dash. The carpets, dash panel, steering wheel, and switchgear are all intact with little visible wear. The door panels have aftermarket speakers installed and are missing all four door pockets. The original radio has been replaced by a Sony cassette player in working order with older boxed speakers installed behind the rear seats. An aftermarket UN-GO alarm system is installed in place of the ash tray and is in unknown condition. The car retains all its original air conditioning equipment which was recently recharged and blows cold. The clock is stopped, the factory electric antenna is inoperable, and the horn works intermittently. All other lights, gauges, and accessories are functional. The Targa top looks good inside and out and seals well. All glass appears to be original and is in good condition.
Engine number 6210482 is original to the car. It starts easily and runs well, with good power and no smoke or other obvious issues. The dogleg 5-speed transmission number 7112995 is also original and reportedly shifts crisply through the gears. The engine bay appears largely original with the exception of the early PMO carburetor kit, which uses Weber branded carbs instead of the PMO built carburetors used in later conversions. The original York A/C compressor is still in place and the belt was reinstalled after these photos were taken. After charging the system the compressor cycles on and off as expected and the cabin air blows cold. The aging brake lines were replaced by the seller to bring the brakes back to roadworthy condition. Steering, suspension, and brakes all perform well.
The undercarriage is in good condition. The seller has inspected the usual 911 problem areas including the floor, front pan, shock towers, pinch welds, inner rockers, inner fenders, door bottoms, cowl, pedal box, and the area under the batteries and has found no significant rust. The car is sold with a clear Arizona title and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirming the numbers matching drive train. The seller welcomes in person inspections and can assist with shipping domestically and internationally.

Auction Description:
- 2.4-liter, 165-hp horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine
- Optional five-speed manual transmission
- Original condition; 57,000 miles on odometer
- Uncommon factory air conditioning
- Factory toolkit
- Porsche Certificate of Authenticity
- Only 1,896 1973 911E Targas reported built
- Popular Targa open roof
This exceptional example of 1973 Porsche 911E Targa is reported as being an original, unrestored car that carries its original Black paint and also has factory air conditioning; with its Beige/Tan Leatherette (31) interior, this makes for a “very rare combination.” The car is stated as sparingly driven and the owner believes the approximate 57,000 miles on the odometer are correct. The car was shipped back to the United States and later sold to the second owner
Powered by the 2.4-liter, 165-hp horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine with mechanical fuel injection; this car has the optional and desirable five-speed manual transmission. Accompanied by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, the original owner purchased the car in Germany in 1973 to U.S. specs with front and rear stabilizer bars, electric antenna with front speaker and noise suppression, comfort equipment, air conditioner with front crash bar for condenser, tinted glass all-around and, in period, Dunlop tires. The factory toolkit in its roll, forged alloy factory wheels, ventilated four-wheel disc brakes and radio are also part of this rousing platform. According to reliable sources; from May 1972 to May 1973, Porsche built 2,470 Porsche 911E Coupes and just 1,896 911E Targas.
One will find; owning a Porsche 911E is more than a matter of money, it’s a matter of style. Porsche owners tend to look beyond the obvious; they understand that beyond the Porsche’s superb performance, technical perfection and motoring comfort there lays a unique driving experience that makes such an automobile the ultimate personal car.
