But..another nice car I ran across while hunting was this cut 70T:
http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/...1t/483399.html
Here's a '73 that's up for auction at Christie's on August 16th. The estimate is an eye-watering $55,000 - $65,000 for what appears to be an unremarkable car. Restoration done by Classic Showcase in CA.

Any one check this one out yet ? If you do let me know what you think.

This one is now officially twice as long as it needed to be to pass along the same information.
Sorry, I've only had one cup of coffee so far:D
P.S. I'm am now sure that I will be the next person to miss another's post and do a duplicate. Darn karma!

stunning '72T on Pelican. Sepia but wow. No idea what price is.
Yup, I've spoken to the owner, but have not seen this car. Seems like a nice survivor originally from SoCal. All the bits and pieces are their with lots of restoration on the mechanics and suspension. Interior is original as is most of the paint. Seller seems well connected with the local PCA and knows his way around these early cars . . . nice guy. Car seems to be getting lots of interest which is a good thing for these understated "T's".
Regards,
Tom
Tom any idea what he's asking?
Berettafan,
I'm happy to share that info . . . check your PM
$28K but the windows weren't taken out for the repaint.
Numbers matching. Runs great. Awesome color.
The negatives: Some damage in the back. Sheetmetal but will need $2000-3000 body repair in the area. Some rust on drivers doorjamb from road debris. Front pan will need work as well. Usual dash crack. Has original a/c equip.
Nice car numbers matching car when restored.
$8000 as is
I believe I have read negative things on this site about this guy.
http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/...html?refer=rss
This looks like the car that was just on Ebay.
it was along with a T thats also very nice.
Methinks a simple rant has been taken too far. Any time I can make a cool 20 grand on anything I'm ready to play. Ya baby, gimme da $$$$$$$$$ and I don't care who it comes from or where.
Oh, btw, my 71T ain't for sale unless...................... :D
Selling, not giving away, the following cars, see my signature,
so far each car has been offered first on both here and on Pelican, but has been sold elsewhere, so if there are any serious board buyers, I have not even started to offer la creme de la creme.................
The creme de la creme is pretty much all that sells here, especially when it comes to Esses. Too many anal eyes here for anything less.Quote:

Included was a media blast down to steel, fresh correct repaint, rebuilt MFI pump, and much, much more. This is the strongest 911 out of 15 that I have bought among 1969-1973 models. Sometimes guys tell me that they have put 20K into their cars, but this is one that I truly believe. The paint is great, the body is dent free, the interior seating has the checkered patterns (pretty cool) but the driver's side has a tear. The dash is cracked up a bit and the door panel on the driver side has a small tear. The carpet looks original and is worn out. Targa top has been refurbed and is very nice. All the weather stripping looks new around the car. I was under the car this morning and the pans are very solid. The front luggage has some surface oxidization under the batteries but is still quite solid. The numbers match original invoice and maintenance log book. I have all docs on the car. I just put in for Kardex.
This one really drives well. It is the first one that I have driven that really seems to be tuned right and has the pick up you would expect from a modern Porsche. Amazing what these MFI's can do when they are right. Heck, I am more entertained by this one than by my 89 C4 3.6L!

1970 911T targa, running/driving, engine has been modified and has very good power, brakes and suspension are fresh, needs completion - mostly cosmetics.
It is a true rust free car - I wish my 911S was this rust free. Powerful engine is a bonus, this car is almost as fast as a 68 911S I just sold. If anyone is interested then call me 760-522-0090 -Mark

Not mine. But it's nearby and I stopped and looked at it quickly the other day. Sale price is $24,500. Paint looks good from 20 feet, not so good from 19 feet. Looked relatively solid, relatively unmolested. I'd consider it at $15,000.

Tom
Who is the "broker" to which you refer?
I like this car although I haven't personally seen the car. Worthy of a PPI.
Desirable clean '72 with great documentation. Solid, rust free California car with blue plates. Very original. Sunroof delete can be a plus or minus depending on buyer preference. Don't know dealer, but haven't heard anything bad as well. Last year, he refused to sell a nice 73S Targa below his price point. He will hold out for the right offer. Good luck.
I think the guys at California Classic are pretty good guys. I have met them several times although I have never purchased from them. They sell a lot of cars to repeat buyers that never hit their website.

1970 Porsche 911T Targa--CHEAP Straight Dry Car - $5500 (Escondido, CA)
Reply to: sale-1031237968@craigslist.org [?]
Date: 2009-02-11, 5:52PM PST
This car was bought from the original owner. My son in law's loss of employment forces sale. Body is reasonably straight with no apparent accident damage. Only rust is confined to a single bubble on top of right front fender, a single bubble in bottom of passenger door and some bubbling in cowl area around windshield wipers. The rear fenders were updated with later model steel fenders to accomodate wider tires. This work appears to have been done by expert (ie, butt welded and not overlapped). The engine (# 6107879) is original to car. It turns by hand but per prior owner has issues. The car's original color was leaf green. The seats in car are later Recaro sport seats. This car is a project car being priced CHEAP for a fast sale. Please no low ballers.

I don't understand why you have to slam this car and seller. He is advertizing the car for sale. The car is what it is. I don't think he is trying to hide anything here. I've seen early 911s with a lot more rust than this and his asking price is what he is asking. Is he not allowed to do so??
Hey Frank fmg41 your old car looks awsome...why are they advertising it as euro spec? It's missing many euro spec details. Best, Steve

Don't Bogart that joint.
Ain't gonna happen. Not in this country, anyway. 32-40% discount to Europe and GB. Say "bye-bye".
Please don't confuse the action on Wall Street for reality. It's not; discretionary spending (all spending is in the crapper). Don't take SCM for anything other than a place to see auction results and an occasional piece of decent writing (I miss Jim Schrager). It is first and foremost about money.
I enjoy the magazine but until you understand that it IS about auctions and results you are missing much of the story. In an auction, (like Vegas) the house always wins.
The Monterey Auctions were off no matter what you are led to believe. (If you took a $700,000 hit on a car would you feel that you had done well?) That actually happened.
The motorcycle auction really REALLY stunk as about 28 out of a total of 104 bikes sold. As a friend in the business said to me; They really got hammered.
2 years ago was the end of the the train leaving the station. A damn fool may turn up now and then but these prices are not aimed for sales to happen HERE. The "marks" are in GB and the continent.
Keep your cars and forget about making money unless it's your business. I enjoy this place so much more when it's not about a damn dollar.
Best regards,
Tom

I just picked up a 1973 Targa mostly because it was for sale. I just got an 89 C4 for myself but this car was too fun to pass up. I will sell if the price is right. It has had $14K in mechanical updates (motor, clutch, suspension, etc.) since 1996- all with detailed records and receipts. The odo showed 72K at that time, it now shows 93K. Mechanically it is very solid. Cosmetically its main flaws are a rust hole in the driver's passenger pan and it was poorly repainted a few shades off the original 324 paint code of medium metallic blue. There are some other minor flaws but for an early 911 it is a solid car and an excellent platform for a full restoration or just to hand on to as a collector. The motor is the original according to my research and records. Overall a good solid car with good gaps. Suspension points look solid. I have over 90 pics- http://www.ecarsnow.com/cgi-bin/phot...w_album/203327 , plus I have a youtube video of me driving the car. Only email me if you are serious about buying. Thanks! VIN is 9113110471

given the color change and engine change would this be very strong pricing ?
Can someone explain this sentance please?
"The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity for this car is available for view as well as extensive records of the restoration process. "
How can it be authenticated with a different engine and color? Or is this some sort of sales speak that just means they have a piece of paper from Porsche that says this was originally a Porsche?
...So what do you all think is a fair price for this car?

Last of the "Simple Cars". I'm not a big Leaf Green fan but it looks good in the photos. I'll guess it will break $30K but by how much is up to the "Fickle Finger of Fate". I've seen worse for more.

This car is a total knockout.:)
This car is less than a mile from my office. I happened to stop in front to take a look this morning and saw this one through the window. I came back and now I realize it is the same car in this thread! This car shop is directly next door to Symbolic Motors which is an authorized Rolls Royce, Lotus and Lamborghini dealer. La Jolla is a very wealthy community and I am guessing this car will be very overpriced. I will try to do more research. They are closed on Saturdays...
Closed Saturdays? How many people buy a car on a Tuesday rather than a Saturday? Hmmm....Business must be good.
I inquired on the Grand Prix 911T and today he emailed saying it is priced at $75k.
That feels like crazy money to me but I'm no expert.
About 9 months ago 2 shores in WI sold an original early T for high 60's. The car found a home with a European buyer.
They are located in a VERY wealthy community where the average car driving around is a Ferrari or Lamborghini. I mean it is pretty ridiculous! They are asking WAY too much for that car but who knows they might get someone to walk in and fall in love that has not done there research?
Perhaps if Greece drags down the Euro along with the rest of the EU we'll see it here again.

Peter:
Pay close attention to the '72 sales brochure. The oil tank door is "drawn in" and the "long side" is top to bottom. Oops.
A gentleman who worked at the local dealer in the 70's who bought a '72 new showed this to me. The brochure was a carry-over from '71.
