My friend Coop - his photos
As I mentioned in the thread on the 917 anniversary in off-topic, my good friend and colleague Charles (Coop) Cooper, was in Europe in the ’60s and ’70s working for Overseas Weekly and Stars and Stripes as a writer/photographer.
Here are some great old racing photos. I hope you guys enjoy these!
First: From left to right, Francois Cevert, Jackie Stewart and Clay Regazzoni, around 1971.
Second: Stewart in the Tyrell around 1971.
Third: Wonderful early evening shot at Le Mans 1968. The awesome Alfa Romeo T33B/2 leads a couple of Ferrari 250LM entries. (is that a 907 or a 908 just behind?)
Fourth: Seconds before the start of British GP at Brands Hatch, 1970.
Fifth: Shot from behind at the 1970 Spanish GP at Jarama.
Cheers,
Mark

Front page from a sad day
No one will ever know what he would have accomplished had he been around longer. Maybe the best ever?

And the last from this group
Again, I'll fill in the details later. Hopefully.

More from the vault of Charles Cooper
With great pleasure, I revive this thread!
1. One of my personal favorites: The Swiss entered Corvette which later crashed at same corner leads a group, including some awesome Porsches
at Le Mans 1968
2. More from Le Mans 1968
3 I think this is the winning GT40 from Le Mans 1968
4. This IS the winning GT40. Dig the shot of Pedro!
5. Pretty sure this is Spa, early 1970s. Siffert and a friend.

Saving the best for last ...
Original historic photos of the great Porsche 917;
I have to get confirmation from Coop but I have good reason to believe that some of these photos are of Rodriguez and Siffert from the race at Spa in May of 1970:cool:pretty darn cool photos.
I'm still working on figuring out where the others are from.
Hope you enjoy these!
Regards,
Mark
