FS: Very early 4 screw dash top 1964 - 1965

Hi,

available is a very early 4 screw dash top. This is the correct dash top for cars made in 1964 and early 1965. As per B.Johnson "the newest car ... which has these is 301175".

Overall condition is good. There is a small crack infront of the speaker. I assume this can be fixed easily as the vinyl is still there. Another crack on the lower angle, which can be hardly seen when installed. The original vinyl has some decoloration.

In his 911/912 authenticity book, Brett Johnson wrote concerning the 4-screw dash, "The newest car in my file which had these is 301175." He doesn't claim to have complete data, just none beyond 301175. I can add that 1965 Porsche 911 chassis number 301258 has it's original dash and it is the 4-screw variety. I am just guessing now but the 4-screw dash may have run through the end of the 1965 model year production somewhere around chassis number 302010.

Do you have a picture of the correct screws that hold that dash?

No, this type of dashboard ended before VIN 302010.
One of the last is VIN 3001379.
Jacques (PSS) can shed some light on this.
Question, is it a four or five button dashboard?

I'll let Mark answer the number of screws on his dash

(his photo shows the fifth over the glove box).

The screws that hold the dash have a shaped head that holds the rubber cap. The screw example (below) is from a 1968 VW Type Two (the drivers seat partition, on a walk thru interior) Note the skirt on the VW item. The 1964-65 Porsche dash button has a rounded bottom edge rather than the skirt.

We would hope our friends in Germany have a better source for Type 2 interior bits - I can't find any here in the USA.

metric (M4 or M5 don`t know by heart) screws have been used to hold the dash..not sheet metal screws
