1971 2,2 T Oil discharge pipe from air intake question

Hello,

i have a question which i would like to introduce.

My mechanic (not a Porsche specialist) is servicing a long time 2,2 T matching number car that was left unusued for years.

The air filter housing, in the back, has a rubber pipe that goes into a metal pipe that goes under the car, seems to discharge
the oil in excess, and going over the right heat exchanger.

It seems strange to me, and when the car revs high a glass of oil goes from there to the heat exchanger.

My mechanic says probably the car has low compression and the oil goes back for depression.

Could be a bad linkage of the pipe? something like an oil discharge that goes on the heat exchangers seems strange, to me.

I have searched for a scheme of the rear of the air housing but i have not found that linkage and that rubber pipe that goes down.

You did not say if there is oil smoke from the exhaust......

You should NOT have that much oil blowing into the air box.

The most common reason for blowing oil into air box is over filling the motor during an oil change, AND....this is the most common mistake owners or mechanics not familiar with dry sump 911s make. Correct oil level is measured with the car fully warmed up, on level ground, at idle. The reading is on the tank dip stick, NOT the oil level gauge! You said your mechanic is not a Porsche specialist....that's my first guess...over fill.

There is generally not enough oil getting into the air box to make a mess......what little oil normally gets there does go into a drain hose off the bottom of the air box and to the drain pipe at right front engine tin. The drain pipe has a rubber boot with a slit cut in it which allows the small amount of oil to slowly drain into the air. In normal operating conditions there would never be enough oil to soil the right heater box......again that much oil suggests over fill by your mechanic.

Never got more than a half a teaspoon out of it....

Mine is a '73 but I think the parts, mounting, and placement should look like this...

If you have a lot of blow by you will get a lot of drainage. Pull the hose off the air box and see how much vapor is coming out when running.
