Ian, txs.
would be interesting to see whether your damper is mounted on the same side as for the LHD cars. Any pics? If so, it would prove the hypothesis that the extra mounting console was designed to also suit use in RHD cars.
No idea how the casting dates can be so early. Yr rack is the same as for my 301379 May 1965 (the rack is mounted and i do not have good pictures other than before restoration).
It looks like the parts took 6-9 months between casting and assembly at ZF, and then 1-2 more months to get to the car assembly line. Looks like despite the design innovations taking place they (ZF) continued to use the old design parts on stock.
back to Philippe's original question: I think indeed the one that came off 300090 is the earliest we have seen, but I am still not clear on the serial numbers. Were these racks from ZF also used in other cars than the Porsche 911 in 1964 or early 1965?
The 301379 rack with 2 damper mounting consoles.

Is this original then? and I shouldn't throw it away :-)Attachment 512629
This looks like the polymer one that I believe is correct for yr car. Txs for picture, first time I see a RHD luggage room, pretty much reconfigured!
Hi experts,
We are about to restore the front and rear axles, suspensions, brakes, etc of the #90.
We need your knowledge in order to avoid mistakes:
- What was the type of paint / finish used in 1964?
- Where could we source the correct screws, nuts, washers?
Thanks for your help
Philippe
Any idea of the origin of this jack?
Would this jack be correct for my 1964 911?
Thanks for your help.
Philippe
