Starter, flywheel problem

In need of help guys.....I bought a 69 911t which had a flywheel with teeth missing which in turn created a starter issue....I then dropped the engine, replaced flywheel ,clutch, rear main seal , pressure plate, new high torque starter ect....3 months later I heard a familiar ugly noise, then starter squeal.....removed starter and with an inspection mirror looked at the flywheel...teeth missing again....😩.....can anyone please point me in the right direction to what may be causing this problem....I don’t want to replace all parts again only for it to happen a 3rd time.....any help would be very much appreciated.

Could it be that your engine is seized? I would try to turn it by hand.

That probably depends on your starter. If you got one of the cheap ebay high torque starters, and did not check the engagement of the starter to flywheel then it could be the starter gear extends too far and is not properly engaging the ring gear. This is a common fault of the cheap starters that you may be able to correct with spacers. The ideal starter would be an IHI-101N

Hi davep,,,, I bought one from pelican and on box it states “Porsche 911 65-73. IMI 101n as you say.
Could it be play in the flywheel.....from camshaft.....done everything when I replaced clutch, flywheel ect to the book....and all parts in between

is there too much end float on the crank? this can cause the gears to push out of mesh?
