M & k R muffler.
These are great
Thanks Raj. Magnus, do you know the outlets' o.d. off hand?
Ben can give you any outlet size you desire. Good stuff, very lightweight.
Lew, I do love the sounds your car makes. How is it to live with? Any resonant droning at cruising speeds?
Well, the 72 with early (rev1) m&k 911r muffler with 3 inch outlets had a lot of drone, I muted it down considerably, it was tolerable but still there...motor was a fairly stock '79 3.0
The 73 has a very built up 3.0 with big carbs 46mm, je pistons, s cams.....but the muffler is a stock dansk with 3 in pipes grafted on by tre....baffles chopped, sounds great no drone....but the thing is heavy
How much time do you have Jens, I gave Marek the original drawing for the 901/22 exhaust and he said he can do it in steel 0.8 mm like the originals have been!
M&K mufflers are light but noisy ... annoyingly so, on my opinion.
If I were you I'd modify a new Dansk.
Hi Jens, it's really about what it is you want in terms of noise and/or noise suppression, the standard Dansk RSR twin outlet rear box is a straight fit but only comes in mild steel. Noise tested with racing headers comes in at about 112db.
Here in the UK we have developed this, a switchable RSR exhaust modelled on the Dansk version but with flaps, so it can run straight through 'open' pipes or flip the lever and it runs through the baffled box and comes in just under 105db. Just testing the stainless steel version as we speak. Explained here:
