Well your 68th post is a winner Mark..... :)
Your project looks GREAT.... we'll need up-dates.... :D
'Formally' welcome to the board..... ;)
Cheers
Pleased to meet you. :)
Just one word: SWEET!
Backdating; putting more long hoods on the road since 1978.
Well, now I am interested! :)
is there a specific car or look that you are shooting for??
... yes, but; I've shifted directions quite a few times. The first photos are cars that have influence my direction. When I started, I had a short hood light-weight bumper installed and I didn't like it. At that point it became a backdate project. I wish I could have done a nice LWB 911R or an ST or TR re-creation but I realized it wouldn't be as authentic looking as I would have wanted. So I decided on a mixture of influences from those cars plus the RS. Visiting this fabulous board and looking at your amazing cars has given me all my inspiration. Here is a list of some of the updates:
Fiberglass RS front and rear bumpers, front fenders, hood and ducktail.
911R plastic door handles.
RS door panels.
911R taillights.
911R style plastic front vent windows with vent bubble.
911R rear quarter windows with vents and drip tray.
Center fill gas tank with 110mm Blau cap.
Removed sunroof.
7 and 8 original Fuchs reconditioned in the RSR style by Harvey Weidman.
Fully rebuild 915 with 7:31 ring, LSD and case modification from WEVO.
WEVO short shifter.
WEVO engine and transmission mounts.
SSIs
Bilstein sports
S alloy front calipers.
10,000 rpm tach.
180 mph speedo.
Original Cibie Pallas.
ST seats from Stefan.
No radio.
A/C removed
6 point Sabelt harnesses.
Full bolt in cage.
The interior will be completely gutted with no insulation.
Engine is a stock 3 liter, that has been rebuilt. I've added Webers and it's been nicely detailed. I couldn't afford to do much with engine mods. Maybe in the future. I've shed a lot of weight. I wish I had kept track of how much. I'll weigh it when it's done. I've wanted an early car right from the beginning (2004) but it didn't work out. I'm still hoping I can find the right early 911 at some point. This car should be a lot of fun and will take care of me until that time. Thanks guys. I'll update as things happen.
