Body colour IMHO for a 72S
Then wheel wells body color as well right?

I recall in 72 wheel well and engine area still black but not solid black colour.
Undercarriage was not black but not body colour either…it was more grayish.
In 73 they started some parts in full body colour, for example engine area.
one has to distinguish btw 72 and 73, they were not identicial.

It is black wheel wells and a greyish underbody.
Here is a pic of a 72 underbody low mileage original car.

These cars were hand painted black. They were brush painted over the body color so it depends how far the guys working that day took it under the pan but blacked out wheel wells, engine bay and front of battery boxes etc. were painted black.
