That is a 964 part.
Don't know the exact year and application but I bought a 92 motor apart and the same fitting came with the rest of the oil lines.
I believe it goes to the engine mounted filter plate that deleted the engine oil cooler p/n 964 207 326 01.
Late 993 used a similar plate but different feed fitting.
Aturboman is correct on part and placement...
Thanks, guys! Not sure how I ended up with a 964 part, but it was a near-perfect fit for the thermostatically-controlled outlet on the '72 oil console -- just a little too "deep."
