Need help with steering
Picked up my wifes Targa some days ago from the shop that does the engines of my cars. They worked only on the engine.
My wife and I started a longer trip with this car this morning. While shunting into a narrow parking lot I realized that the steering doesnīt react like it used to do before.
If I turn the steering wheel toward end position, the wheels (including steering wheel) snap automatically towards the maximum angle/end Position and the tires sound like rubbing over the street.
Before I will drive to a local shop (300km away from my regular shops): any suggestions where to look/what to repair?

Was it towed to the shop?
-
No. I drove it to the shop.
Forget to mention that the steering wheel was removed and they used an impact wrench
to loosen the screw.
-
Nothing wrong with an impact. Why did they remove the wheel?
Sounds like the caster abruptly changed. Or there's something going on where the steering shaft attaches to the coupler. You may want to open the smuggler's box and take a peek.

The steering wheel was 1 or 2 teeth of middle while driving straight, so they had to remove the wheel to set it centered. They didīd touch the tie rod setting.
What is a caster?
-
So it begs the question; why was the steering wheel off center? It sounds like they didn't "correct" anything by re-positioning the wheel. The rack and tie rods should be centered before moving the wheel on the splines.
Caster...
Google is your friend.

For sure re-positioning the wheel will not correct what has caused the off center wheel.
Caster----dictionary helped.

Drove the 300km back alone and left the car at the shop and took another car, while my wife was x was shopping. It was a long trip so she had a lot of time.... hmm.
havenīt been in contact with the shop yet. will post as soon as they found the reason.
