Targa support plates
bought these last year form local Porsche dealership... I just noticed, other than left and right side, they are differing in that the right side has a circular pressing??? Other than that, overall shape is what you would expect for right and left. Drainage weep holes slightly difering. my application is 1968 ,so, I believe the left side "pressing" is correct. the right side I believe is for a later car??? If I am correct . Can a correct right side (1968) be available.... I have searched and all of the parts offered for 1968 look like the 911 501 204 40 thaI have pictured...t Attachment 509285

1i just looked at a 1985 Targa driver side and they used the currently offered 911 501 303 40... I wonder why the passenger side 911 501 204 40 has that roundish pressing????? . more importantly, did the first early models look like the driver side and was changed for some reason for later cars...

looking at Auto Atlanta web site. it appears the current passenger side plate changed in 1970 models. anyone know what it looked like in 1968????

guess I will have to try to answer my own question.... possibly the round pressing on the passenger side had to do with the 1972 oil bag hangers/attachment ???? and Porsche, in its efforts to cover all the basses, produced these replacement parts to take care of that application.... So in 1968, I will assume the driver and passenger side were mirror images???
