Referred here from one of the license plate frame threads.
Piecing together my car's early history. 1972 911T, early build in 8/71. I've been told the dealer code is UAT, which appears to be Los Angeles/Tourist delivery.
Not sure what actual LA-area dealer helped the first owner place the order. The warranty booklet has a hand-written delivery date of Oct. 4, 1971 (04/10/71 in European date format). I'm assuming that is the date of delivery here in the states, not at the factory tourist delivery, since the mileage at delivery (in the same handwriting) is shown as 01932. So a short 1900 mile vacation in Europe after delivery?
Dealer number is written in as 422-A08.
In the dealer stamp area there is a hand-written note of "Dr. Ing h.c.F. Porsche" that also appears to be written by the same person as the date and mileage notations. Over that is the dealer stamp of "VOLKSWAGEN PACIFIC INC. Culver City, Ca. 90230"
I've gathered that 422-A08 indicates a Porsche/Audi dealer supplied by VW Pacific, but which one? I haven't seen the A08 in other threads yet.
Any thoughts or comments?
