Auction Description:
The 2.2 L 911E was called ‘The secret weapon from Zuffenhausen’. Despite the lower power output of the 911E compared to the 911S, the 911E was actually quicker in acceleration up to 160 km/h (99 mph). This beautiful example has benefited from a very comprehensive restoration, supported by a thick photographic and financial record of the works completed. The powerful injected “E” motor and gearbox have been rebuilt and as expected the car drives as well as when it rolled out of the factory in 1970. Finished in its original colour specification, this stunning rare example is offered with a US title and import documents, in addition to its Porsche birth certificate.

Seller's Description:
This is a beautiful and highly optioned numbers-matching 1973 Porsche 911E Coupe, VIN 9113201070, finished in the original Gemini Blue Metallic over black, with the original 2.4E mechanically fuel injected engine and the rare original sportomatic transmission. With a recent cosmetic and mechanical restoration, this car ready to enjoy immediately.
The first three owners of the car were from the South Dakota area, where the car was routinely serviced at Carousel Porsche in Minnesota (the closest franchise dealer to Sioux Falls, SD) as well as Classic Import Repair in Sioux Falls. In 2008, the car came to California, where it was serviced by Auto Werkstatt in Manhattan Beach for a time, and more recently at TLG Auto and AIR MotorSports. A complete engine rebuild at Carousel Porsche was completed in 1997-98 (approximately 20,000 miles ago) at a cost of over $10,000 (documents available). The front suspension pan was replaced by AIR in 2014, but all other body panels appear to be original. The car was treated to a glass out repaint by AIR in 2016, and TLG Auto rebuilt the original sportomatic transmission in 2017. At the time of the repaint, the dash was repaired, the modern stereo was removed and replaced with a correct and fully functioning Becker Europa, the seats were recovered and a few other interior details attended to. The car has the original Fuchs wheels (including spare), the jack, the original owner's manual and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and maintains the original mechanical fuel injection (MFI). The car was a US delivery car with a build date around April of 1973 and included light alloy wheels, stabilizer bars front & rear, chrome fender trim, S trim and instruments, tinted glass and a Becker Europa radio (all present). The COA confirms that the engine and transmission are original to the car (the original engine number per the COA is 6239260 and the original transmission number is 630509). In addition, the car has dealer installed AC, aluminum "S" front calipers and a steel "S" front bumper.
The sportomatic transmission, with its clutchless shifting, was years ahead of its time. To prove it's durability, Vic Elford raced a 1967 911R equipped with a sportomatic transmission, in which after 84 grueling hours on the Nurburgring Nordschleife, he brought his blood orange 911R to victory in the aptly named Marathon de la Route race of 1967. Over the years, many sportomatics were converted to full manual transmissions, so very few remain in existence as originally configured. The four-speed clutchless manual in this car has less than 500 miles since it has been rebuilt, and is ready for touring or racing.

Car is a great driver and has provided many years of fun. Since relocating to Wash DC, have driven to Hershey PCA swap meet annually, over 300 miles round trip. Drove from north of Syracuse NY to Wash DC on work trip several years ago. This car is a blast to drive and gets a thumbs up from everyone. Mileage is unknown, a few years ago the odometer began spinning hundreds of miles in a short trip.

Auction Description:
As expected with a car of such long term ownership the body is untouched and rust-free, retaining its original factory Tangerine (#2323) paint. All panels are in remarkable condition; the panel gaps and shut lines are perfect, and the doors close with the Porsche trademark ‘ping’. The interior is un-restored and perfectly preserved. With the exception of small stress crack on the dash top the whole interior (including carpets, headliner, door panels and door pockets) is lovely. The seats (in genuine leather not vinyl) show just the merest of wear on the driver’s seat, and the original ‘Coco’ floor mats are still present. As expected all controls and instruments are in full working order.
Over the years the engine has always been correctly serviced but has never been removed from the car, and still shows perfect oil pressure, accelerating through the five forward gears effortlessly. With more mid-range torque than the S, this car is as fast or faster than an S in most driving conditions. In a world of over-restored classic Porsches, this early 911E stands out as a unique and refreshing find. If you are seeking a genuine rare surviving example of one of the most exciting variants of the legendary 911, then look no further.
The 911E is offered with the original Porsche book pack, service books and receipts of over 40 years of careful maintenance. With a total recorded mileage of 74,580 miles in almost 50 years, this is a unique find and a real treat for the true enthusiast.

A bit of history for this one . . . First as a worn out 'barn find' and then as an over-restored example selling for US$137,500 at the 2014 Gooding Amelia Island Auction. Originally equipped with a Sportomatic transmission, Frank Beck observed; "Moonshine. Finding out your date used to be the opposite sex is always disappointing." Then sold for US$97,900 at the 2017 Goodings Amelia Island Auction.

Auction Description:
Fitted with desirable factory appointed options such as a roll bar, air conditioning, and White paint, this 911E makes for quite the proposition.
Prior to this 911's acquisition by the well-known Pino Angiulli of Milano Auto Repair, it was believe that the vehicle sat dormant without operation for nearly 20 years. In 2007, a restoration commenced in order to get the Porsche back on road. The work was comprehensive with a full bare-metal blast and repaint and on the mechanical front the drivetrain, suspension and brakes were all rebuilt. Inside, the cork leatherette was reupholstered. As a result of this substantial work, the vehicle was awarded first place at a PCA Concours in the Garden State.
911s have proved to be a staple of any substantial car collection and this well sorted example will surely find itself in the hands of an enthusiast owner.

BaT Description:
This 1970 Porsche 911E is a European-market coupe that was sold new in Germany and imported to the US in 1985. Finished in Tangerine over a black interior with Pepita inserts, the car was equipped from the factory with a rear window wiper, 911S disc brakes, and the comfort package, which added a leather-wrapped steering wheel, velour carpet, polished rocker trim, and 14″ Fuchs. Power is provided by a replacement 2.0-liter flat-six, which retains its mechanical fuel injection and is paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle. Maintenance within the last year included the installation of new Pirelli Cinturato tires, brake pads, front rotors, spark plugs, a battery, and more as described below. The seller has added approximately 6k miles during two years of ownership, and this 911E is now offered with a partial service history, import documentation, the factory glove compartment books, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
This car is one 667 911E coupes built by Karmann for the model year, and reportedly left the factory finished in Signal Yellow. The body was refinished sometime prior to the seller’s acquisition in the period color of Tangerine. A replacement Sigla windshield has been fitted, and new seals for the windshield, rear windows, and doors were installed within the last year. A few imperfections and dings are noted around the body.
The 14″ Fuchs wheels were mounted with new Pirelli Cinturato CN36 tires during the seller’s ownership, and a Fuchs spare resides in the front trunk compartment. Factory equipment for the 911E includes 4-wheel vented discs, with 911S-spec aluminum ATE calipers up front. The brake system benefits from fresh fluid, new front rotors, and new pads at each corner.
The front seats wear black leatherette covers with Pepita inserts, and a replacement dash pad was installed prior to the seller’s acquisition. The headliner has also been replaced, and closeups of the door panels, charcoal carpets, and rear seats are provided. The VDO tachometer shows the 6,800-rpm redline, and the metric speedometer contains a 5-digit odometer showing 14k kilometers (~9k miles). The leather-wrapped 4-spoke steering wheel and factory shift knob remain installed.
The replacement 2.0-liter flat-six wears stamping *6291775* and reportedly originated a 1969 911E. It comes equipped with the factory Bosch mechanical fuel injection system and is paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle. Service over the past year included a new set of spark plugs, an air cleaner, and oil changes with Brad Penn 20W/50 and Swepco gear oil. Rust is noted around the driver-side jack receiver, and additional underside photos are provided.
The service file contains receipts for parts purchases and repairs made in recent years. A number of import documents from 1985. The German-language owner’s manual, care pass, and glove compartment booklets are included.
