Just as we have this issue with parts, we also need to watch for car sales that are scams...
Is this the place to report a scam?
I just missed out on a 28K € deal on a 65 911.
Turned out the car has been sold in April this year for 180.000$
Seller told me someone else was giving him the deposit for the car already.
What to do?
Cheers
"Reporting" a scam here simply alerts other potential buyers (noble endeavor) but without additional info has as much value as the fictitious car in question. Report to proper authorities, unless it's in Canada in which case they don't care much about things like this.
The obvious question: Why would a thief pass up the chance to sell his ghost car multiple times? What a rookie.
Got some info about other buyer and trying to contact him now. It concerns a car which has been sold in US in April this year for 180.000$ and is being offered in EU for 28000€ That is a bit strange IMHO.
Seller is asking for deposit.
Don't know where to report is elsewhere at the moment before i find more info.
Vin is 301100
That car is most certainly not in the EU, I sold it. John, the new owner is active on the forum.

Got hold after some searching of the other buyer who according to the seller was paying a deposit.
Hi joost,
If you think you can buy a3011xx in this condition for E 28000 you are two years behind the market.
Lee
Hi Lee, it are the one's that search and find these cars in strange places that make the best buy or earn a lot of money by reselling these cars on fora like this one.
Few years back this was the way i found a 64 911. So you can't blame me for trying :D
My car and that car are 11 numbers apart.
John
John,
I stayed at a Holiday Inn a few weeks ago.
The photos of 301100 show a 1/6 scale SUV inside of a red 911.
I would like to purchase this. Geoff, is that yours?
Definitely a scam. You don't want to buy a car on Rhode Island Ave in DC :-).

Brad Revelli sold me a Corvette on E-Bay. He said that it was a sale with Papers from a Lien Sale.
He forgot to say that it was a sale to someone else, and that he did not even own the Automobile, or could not come up with paperwork that would allow a Transfer of Ownership.
He Stole $4, 100.00 from me.
I have been informed by the California DMV that the Automobile has been sold to someone other than whose Information was on the Lien Sale Papers. That Person was a Daniel Burgess, whom I later found out was Brad Revelli's Partner in his Apartment.
A complete Scam- He knows the rules in E-Bays Protection Policy, so he Communicates well for over thirty days, saying that he can take care of this, and take CARE OF THAT. After the thirty days tht E-Bay and Pay-Pal are supposed to Protect the Buyer, You cannot make a claim. Even the $500.00 Paid through Pay-Pal would not be Refunded because Pay-Pal contended that it was a "VIRTUAL TRANSFER". Please explain this to me.
I am Seventy Years old, and on Social Security. Had to borrow the money to pay this. Now am really struggling to Pay back the person who Borrowed me the Money.
Brad Revelli and Daniel Burgess in Walnut Creek, CA., are both FRAUD ARTISTS in my BOOK.
I have not received a Penny Back, and I cannot afford to go from Minnesota to California to SUE.

Brad Revelli Auto Sales Complaints - Fraud
Brad Revelli Auto Sales
Fraud
Company information:
Walnut Creek, California
United States
Brad Revelli did the exact same thing to me on a 1979 VW SuperBeetle I bought from him on e-bay. Only I actually received a title from him. He told me it was never put in his name. The title was from NY & listed to the original owner. I found a California license plate in the trunk when we were restoring it. California DMV verified that the vehicle had been registered in California in 2000 but hasnt been registered since 2002. But said that Brad Revelli was not the registered owner on title. It too was Daniel Burgess.
He refused to answer us about the California title & where it was, or that he did not even own the Automobile, or could not come up with paperwork that would allow a Transfer of Ownership.
He has stolen $5, 500.00 from me which is what I now have into the cars prior to learning this.
So the NY title of the original owner is absolutely no good & not relevant at all. It had since been titled to this same Daniel Burgess, Brad Revelli's Partner in his Apartment.
A complete Scam- You are right...He does know how to manipulate E-Bays rules to get around the Protection Policy. He promises makes alot of promises to stall the thirty days. After the thirty days that E-Bay and Pay-Pal are supposed to Protect the Buyer, You cannot make a claim. Pay-Pal gave me the same answer for my deposit. I do not know what "Virtual Transfer is either. I am on disability & that is why we got a car on ebay to fix up ourselves. Now I still have no car. I too borrowed the money & it has been over a year.
Brad Revelli and Daniel Burgess in Walnut Creek, CA., have done this to many. All you have to do is pull up Brads name. Sue him in your state or see if we can file a class action suit nationwide. I plan on trying for criminal charges as well. I am in Arizona, so I am a little bit closer.
I have not received a Penny Back, and I cannot afford to go from Minnesota to California to SUE.

I have worked with Brad for years. He is honest and reliable. I google searched him to find his most recent contact information and was sad to see this spam thread is still the first hit. Note that this is just a personal campaign by one person to smear Brad. The second comment above simply copies and pastes the first complaint, changing some facts to make it look different - but note that the person forgot to change certain facts - claiming that he lives in Arizona, yet has no money to go from MN to CA to sue. I've received better written responses in my spam e-mail folder

Does it really matter that I cut & paste similar topics rather than completely rewrite them? Come on, semantics. I assure you, this is not
one person trying to smear Brads name. This is yet another person that got screwed over by this eBay car scam he has going on. And if he is such a great honest guy, why don't you ask him what the hell he stuck us all with. I'm sure if he is the guy you think he is, he'll be totally upfront, and I'm sure he'll be able to quickly give you a reasonable explanation for it as well as a simple resolution on how all of us can title our vehicles. I only pray you prove us all a bunch of brad hating assholes by posting back with the fix. I will not only thank u, but I would make a public apology to brad and spend the next year advocating his name. Deal?

If you still want the car then show up, see car, take cash with you, insist he goes with you to DMV to transfer title while you have a buddy sit on the car.
Thx. Unfortunately I live in the UAE and want the car shipped to Belgium, so I cant show up and check the car. Really dont know what to do with this one. The car looks good enough though.

We all hope that there is Always that 'Lucky buy ' and thats why we take the chance to be scamed .. or even worst beat up when you come to pick up the car
but some of the ads are so obviously fake that i'm Always surprised that even people bid on the car.. but there is that little thing on you're shoulder thats says .. you never know... maybe this one is a Lucky buy ..
I live in Concord and know Brad (Mr. Bmw2002) and he does flip a car or two but he is not a scammer. Let me know if you need any PPI's in the Bay area. He has bought a few cars off me also.
I sold Brad that 911T - the one Ninja Driver bought - and it is not a scam and that Brad was straightforward and I knew selling it to him that his plan was to flip the car. I never claimed that it was rust free when I sold it but it is solid and a great car. Owned it 25 years and put a lot into it. Ninja- contact me if you need any info on it.

You have to work with the fraud departments of the banks involved with wire transfer- if scammers have money the buyer is mostly likely SOL. In today's market you can not buy a car w/o out someone physically verifying that car exists and deal it legitimate. This is a very lucrative business for the criminal networks and there is way more of this than anyone can imagine.
Phil
The banks cash in as well - even if you can get a wire transfer held up, the bank will drag its feet for weeks; possibly months. A friend who sent money to Smokey Auto Sales in FL (allegedly) notified the bank within hours of initiating the wire transfer, and it took over a month to get the money released.

The latest scam is to send a PM to someone who has an item for sale or low activity with a link that brings up a fake login screen that looks like the registry page and once you have given them your ID and password they will now use your account to scam people. This is happening on Pelican and 914world also. The red flag is they prefer accounts that have very little activity so if someone has an older join date and 1 or 2 posts be careful.
Did anyone get a screen grab before it was taken down?
That ad was amazing in it's detail including a phone number and believable history. Is it not a stretch to believe that a buyer, in an attempt to commandeer the opportunity wouldn't do his best to cry scam and have the ad removed?

Offered is the very last produced 911 SC.
Ideal for Porsche collectors since it is a one-time piece.
You have to imagine that; Immediately after the installation of this 911, the production line was dismantled and rebuilt for the Carrera 3,2.
After researching with and with the company Porsche, it was found that this car is not only the Targas the last one (see VIN No. in Model 1983), but also the last SC ever. This also applies to the engine. VIN: WPOZZZ91ZDS141258 Motornr .: 63 D 6539 The car is first registration Feb.1984 and has a mileage of 161 tkm. It is visually and technically in a nearly perfect condition. Lt. Review status 1-2. The SC was NOT restored, he is still compl. original state. I am now the second owner and have the Porsche since 1994. The car was neither used by me nor by my predecessor ever in the winter. He has been scrupulously maintained and there have been only two major repairs so far. On the one hand, the cylinder studs were all replaced and the cpl. Exhaust system including heat exchanger against a VA system (all dimensions correspond to the series). It is also interesting, the front apron with the intrigued fog lamps as well as the 4-spoke steering wheel from the Carrera 3,2 already factory-installed. Serious prospective customers are welcome to ask for further information or to arrange an appointment for an expert review by an expert of your choice. The car is in a Porsche center, so all possibilities are available.
Is there a union for online Porsche scammers? Must be a thriving business.

Haha. THAT was my car! Those pictures of the Gemini Blue 72 were taken in PO's driveway in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I bought it on ebay, flew up there, picked it up in that driveway and drove it back to Virginia. Three years ago.Attachment 399579
Law enforcement is in the game.

Check your GT3 track car if it came out of Michigan.
OTOH, I know of at least one car wrecked at *** that was sold on the spot and never reported as totaled (which it was). Full front clip job just like new.
Good luck.

Price is a dead giveaway.
Sold by prez! and headed to Europe as of 8/19/14, so definitely scam.

1968 911L listed on Ebay might be fraud. I asked the guy if I could come inspect it as I told him I lived close by. He responded the car was actually in another state, hmmmmmm. So I asked him if I could get it inspected there and its been two days with no response. The guy has "0" feedback. I reported it to Ebay but who knows.
Not Mine - on the surface appears to be too good to be true

And, yes. I did e-mail.
Can someone please enlighten me on 'why' this is a thing? What is the purpose of these posts?
To enlighten those who might walk into a punji stick trap.
This car was for sale sometime ago on the Registry . . . as of 01/12/2017 it was no longer for sale. It was listed for US$245,000 on PCA Classified (Ad#24020).

Fake.
He listed first in Krauchenwies for 1 or 2 years single cars, never got a response and now he listed this barn finds few km to my hometown.
Asked some in the Porsche scene here. The "seller" is a Immobilen trader, who collects adresses ;-)
Would not recommend to send your real adress.
Good morning
Could that be a scam?
This hapened when trying to sell my 1968 S Coupe:
After having been entertained by a senior member of this Forum during two months assuring me that he was going to purchase the car and that the sale was done, at the end, the would-be buyer's money did not materialize apparently, he said, for problems with a loan, and after draining myself of all kind of information and questions about the 1.968 S.
In the middle of the waiting, I have been e-mailed repeatedly by the would-be buyer requesting me to provide a "clear frontal close-up picture of the chassis number". I replied that to me, it seems very dangerous to send such a picture through Internet because that is the easiest way to transfer the chassis number to another shell or another chassis, but that if they could get the original record from the Porsche factory, I will provide a picture of the chassis number to contrast both.
Why such an interest ? Is there anything else you could do with a "clear frontal close-up picture of the chassis number" ?
By the way, the same senior member of this Forum, in a thread started by himself for his car, did published about his car : "Chassis No. 1182xxxx (‘T’)".
Even the shipping was already arranged.
So the car is for sale again.
Thanks
R.V.
P.D: Those are the pictures that I originally posted, included four or five where the chassis number or parts of it could be seen if zoomed in. I consider the chassis number is clear enough, but the pictures are not frontal pictures as requested.

Hi Everyone - Looking to purchase my first air cooled 911 and I'm concerned that the car is fake. Attachment 437518 Let me know what you think. The car is supposed to be a 1970 911E but the 6th digit on the vehicle id is a 3. From my research "3" was for the 914/6 and 924.
I appreciate your help. Thanks!

A guy name "Shane Moore" , apparently a director of photo in Discovery, Deadliest Catch, answered my mail regarding a 912 here. He said he will come back to me when he is back from filming in february.....
This kind of story is also mentioned in a US car site but I have not found any other comments on this guy and site??

The Bait:
...what looks to be pretty much original 68 911L.....supposedly local so that I could inspect
Attachment 445661
The troll:
There were only 4 photos
The "owner" had recently moved to another state.
He texted in broken English
He priced the car very reasonably and was willing to talk
He had never sold a car privately before
When I said I would send somebody to inspect he stated he wanted the inspection done by a local "reputable inspection company"
After a slight delay, while he looked up the phone number, he sent me the info.
When I asked for another photo of the car's VIN he said he would provide it only after I arranged the appointment with the inspector to confirm that I was a real buyer.
The fish spooked.
The Hook:
Provide credit card data to the inspection company
The ad is still active
This is one of many scams by Allen Alfiler. He is a master of the: ‘it’s NOT too good to be true’ add.
Here is an example:
https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/6454900071.html
Rusty porsche for $9500.
Seems plausible. Might feel like a good deal but definitely not too good to be true like most scams. He is not afraid to discuss the car over the phone either. There is a website devoted to him here:

This car is mine, photos taken from an old ad, car is still sitting in my garage, and I have nothing to do with the auction. I have notified eBay and received no response.
67 911 - on ebay #112999901122 this car sold on BAT #2776 a few years earlier for $20k more, so could be suspicious. BAT photos used. Hey - this is my first post on this site.
Price seems too good to be true, too little information - suspect fake CL ad . . . no SoCal neighborhood looks like photos.

Hey everyone, do you think "John Smalls" has finally decided to sell his cars? That is the second one he puts on Pcarmarket within 2 weeks...
https://www.pcarmarket.com/auction/1...-911-coupe-3/#
I'll take two at that price. Seller from "Australia" asks for a down payment to his "business partner" in the US. When I asked about a PPI, he provided a gmail address pretending to be an Australian Porsche Center and told me I can only use this gmail address to schedule the PPI because there are two Porsche Centers with the same name in the same city. The 'other' one uses corporate email addresses, but his connection provides better service.
Pretty entertaining actually.
