search is your friend
http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...ighlight=horns
Agree about search however there is too much conflicting info.. Appreciate clear direction.
David, what month was your build?
The info Is actually pretty clear. As the thread indicates, the build month of your car will dictate the type of horns were likely delivered in your car when new.
Again, many of the changes with the '73 MY occurred after January 1973.
Pre Jan = banjo style
Post Jan = trumpet style
As with EVERYTHING production related on these cars, you will find some degree of variability when it comes to implementation on the production line. Porsche used up their existing parts in the bin and then switched over. Given this detail, you have a little license with a lot of things.
Really, you had better hope that you need the red trumpet horns as the others are nearly impossible to find. The last nice set of banjo horns I saw sold for around $800... and that was before the demographic had changed from enthusiasts to hedge fund managers.
If your car is post Jan 73 then the Gled 49 post in that thread is absolutelycorrect for 99.99% of cars;)
Has special brackets one horn fits on batterybox one on bumper bracket one faces forward one faces down red trumper style
Question. When did the trumpets were replaced by the "snail style" horns?
Thx
Max
Now comes some more confusion and a question.. I just looked at 1973 E, production 1189 of 1366. Would indicate to me later production. Original 48,000 mi car and it has banjo style horns. Original to the car for sure.. Thoughts??
Do you mean when did the banjo style replace the snail style or are you asking when did red trumpets replace banjo style
