She is solid the whole way through the pans. Battery has always been on a rubber tray and I always take it out if it the 6 Volt needs recharging.

If the guy at the paintshop really finishes it mid-May (at least he said so) I think it could be in driving condition sometime in the next months. And yes, I am an optimist ;-)
I am / have been casually looking for a pre 66 bug for awhile. waiting for the funds and a car to align at the right time. I played with a 68 Square for awhile, but sold it because I really want a bug.
