911R rear fender flares
Yes...Porsche made steel rear fender flares for the 911R series, Listed in the 911R parts book is 901.503.603.60 (left side) and 901.503.604.60 (right side). Below are 3 photos, first photo is looking at the bumper end on the right, second photo is the inner side, and third photo is the overall outside view (poor quality) from the www showing the parts...

Ernie,
Are those the same as the ones that are in the catalogue that are placed over a stock fender to show their placement?
I can't find the photo right now...Seems like they were white ?

Hello Harvey,
No, the green colored steel flares above seem to be different, they end at the rear bumper. The white ones you described, look to be made of fiberglass (my opinion), and include the flare and bumper end all in one piece. The photo of the white colored flare is from the Homologation book, #1451, Nr. 2/2 V, for the 911L Coupe (Gruppe 2) dated Nov. 13, 1967. The description (Foto 1) gives a part number as: 901.503.325.00 (left), and 901.503.326.00 (right), which differ from the green flare part numbers. Also note: both the white and green ones are cut just above the torsion bar holes.

BTW the white are described as "Blende" ie vizor. Its an added thing mounted over the existing metal.
Imo they dont include the bumper but extend just the wheel area by building a flare. BuT I could be wrong.
I have the homologation sheet too.

Thanks Ernie.
I wonder if that is the source of some of the differences in the restored cars fender profiles?
The white ones do appear to taper more at the bumper like a LWB.......

Unfortunately the typewrited tag glued on my parts were unreadable but the old renowned guy who sold them to me ( togheter with rear ST alu lid and front ST alu bumper ) told me they were Gr.3 items ( so i always thought i bought the 901.503.325.00/326.00 parts).
but now that i see your photo.... and the shape is identical to mine....
Are you absolutely sure that they are 901.503.603.60/604.60 coded? did you read it on the tag?
because they are very different from thee ones you can see on some 911R , e.g. Reventlow car, or others i found on your site:
http://www.pbase.com/911r/image/117038098
Do you see that the flares on this car is deeper than mine or than your parts you posted here?
-
The Reventlow car has modified rear fenders, and the edge is also rolled under. Note: silver and blue photos are of the same car, #20 911R.

This is Barry Williams' 1968 911T FIA Group3, it has the 911R rear fender flares. I took a contour of these flares, same as the series 911R flares.
