BaT Description:
This 1969 Porsche 911E coupe reportedly remained in California with its previous owner from the 1970s until being acquired by the current owner in 2009 and brought to Ohio, where a subsequent refurbishment was completed earlier this year. Refinished in its factory shade of Irish Green, the car is powered by a replacement 2.0-liter injected flat-six paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. Modifications include sport seats with plaid cloth inserts, a MOMO steering wheel, an RS-style front bumper, and Fuchs wheels. This 911E is now offered on behalf of the current owner with a clean Ohio title.
The body had been repainted in red during previous ownership and was refinished by the current owner in Irish Green (6806), reportedly the original color. The floor pans were also replaced, and bodywork was carried out in various areas as needed. Images from the painting process are included.
15” Fuchs alloys have been added and are finished in matte gray and mounted with Falken tires measuring 205/55. An RS-style front bumper has been installed and contains a front-mount oil cooler. Trim includes “sugar-scoop” headlight bezels, dual sideview mirrors, and chrome lower rocker accents.
The cabin features a competition-style seat from GTS Classics for the driver and a period-look sport seat for the passenger, both of which are upholstered in black with plaid cloth inserts. Wear and signs of age are visible on the door panels, lower dash, and rear trim, as shown in the gallery. The seatbelts would benefit from an update according to the seller.
A three-spoke MOMO Competition steering wheel has also been added and is pictured up close in the gallery. VDO instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer, though both are said to flutter at times. The five-digit odometer shows 56k miles, 3k of which have been added during current ownership. True mileage is unknown. Carpeting in the front trunk is said to be for a different model year.
The 2.0-liter flat-six is a correct-type replacement unit sourced from P3 Autokrafte of Centerville, Ohio and installed during previous ownership. It is mated to a five-speed manual transaxle, and stampings of engine number *6290877* and type number 901/09 are shown in the gallery below. The seller states that a recent leak-down test yielded the following results for each cylinder:
1 – 6%
2 – 5%
3 – 10%
4 – 5%
5 – 5%
6 – 5%
Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery.

BaT Description:
This 1971 Porsche 911E was reportedly sold new in Colorado, and came to the previous owner in Sacramento, California in 1986. The previous owner performed a color change to Guards Red and added fiberglass flares and bumpers before putting the car into storage in 1994. The seller recently acquired the car and has since fitted a metal 911S front bumper and factory rear bumpers. The fuel-injected 2.2L flat-six is paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle, and the car benefits from a cleaned fuel tank, new rubber fuel lines, rebuilt brake calipers, new front rotors, and more detailed in the listing. This 911E is offered with factory literature and a clean California title in the seller’s business partner’s name.
The car was originally burgundy (2424), and the previous owner had it repainted in Guards Red and fitted with a set of fiberglass rear flares in the late 1980s to resemble a contemporary Carrera. The original color is shown in the gallery below with the front bumper removed. The seller has since fitted the car with a metal front bumper and valence from a 911S and installed a factory rear bumper assembly.
The 16″ Fuchs wheels measure 6″ wide at the front and 7″ at the rear, and are fitted with BF Goodrich tires. The seller has rebuilt all four brake calipers, installed new front discs, and new brake flex hoses. Close-up photos of the wheels and finish are provided in the gallery.
The cabin is upholstered in black leatherette with matching carpets and plastics, and the car retains a factory four-spoke steering wheel. The car is not equipped with a radio, and cracking is shown in the upper dash. The rear seats are shown both raised and lowered. Instrumentation includes a central 8k-rpm tachometer, a 180-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and supplemental instrumentation in a pair of combination housings. 66k miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer.
The 2.2-liter 911/01 flat-six is equipped with mechanical fuel injection and was factory rated at 155 horsepower and 141 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Type 901 5-speed manual transaxle. Since bringing the car out of service the seller has cleaned the fuel tank, replaced the rubber fuel lines and fuel filters, and reconditioned the fuel pump. The car has also received a new alternator, spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor, and an oil and filter change. Engine number 6210604 is shown in the gallery.
The seller has fitted a set of used factory heat exchangers as well as a stock muffler. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery, and show the driveline, floors, suspension components, and more. Factory literature is included in a burgundy vinyl folio, and the maintenance booklet is shown in the gallery.

Auction Description:
*Delivered new to Germany
*Documented by its Kardex
*Polo Red from new
*First year of the long wheelbase 911
This 911E rolled off the line at Stuttgart factory at the end of March, 1969. Finished Polo Red, it was nicely optioned with both driver and passenger sports seats in black leatherette with pepita inserts and headrests. Destined for the home market, it was delivered through Otto Gloeckler's dealership to Jersohke Volkmann of Bad Hamburg outside of Frankfurt on October 1, 1969. An enthusiastic Porsche owner, Mr. Volkmann had covered some 8,000km by the time he brought the car back to Gloeckler for service on November 12 of the same year.
The interim history of the car is not, as of yet, documented but the 911 was in California from at least 2006 until it was acquired by the current owner five years ago. Still finished in its original color of Polo Red, the seats have since been replace with leatherette wrapped standard seats with headrests. A wood rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of a gauge cluster that has been converted from metric to Imperial units. The original, fuel injected 2-liter engine was at some point replaced with the current motor—which is the correct type but appears to have originally been in a Sportomatic equipped 911E. Restored to the fine condition it appears today, 911s have proved to be a staple of any substantial car collection and this tidy example will surely find itself in the hands of an enthusiast owner.
