Does anyone know if it is possible to restore early chrome grills? I have four and none of them are perfect.

Hi,
I just got my rear grill back from the anodizing firm a few weeks ago. Looks great. The grill needs to be polished first at a metal polisher then go to any anodizing company and ask for 'Bright Finish'
It cost me about 50 Australian dollars

Hi Dean,
how did you separate the stretched metal grill from the aluminum grill? Is it riveted?
Tom
Can you straighten the bars?
Hi Tom,
Hi Tom,
I carefully drilled the rivets out that hold the metal mesh to the alloy grill then removed the metal inserts on the sides, as metal will disintegrate in the anodising process. Then I very carefully prised the mesh out of the slots on the side. I tried to match the rivet type for reassembly.
My grill had a very slight kink, which took me a while to straighten. In my opinion the final assembled grill now looks almost prefect.
Hope this helps
Dean
