901 Transmission Types
The COA for my 67S lists my transmission as a 901. It also has the 6 digit number which agrees with the number on the case. Somewhere a long time ago I wrote the rest of the transmission number down but misplaced it so should probably crawl under the car and do it again.
My 67N shows a type 902/01 again with matching numbers.
The 67 912 racecar I parted out had a non original transmission which is marked 901 301 301 01.
What do all the numbers mean after the 901 prefix. I searched the past threads and just got more confused. Maybe tomorrow I'll jack up the beasts, crawl under and record all the numbers so I can have a more learned discussion going. It's just so damn friggin hot here (96 today) that my enthusiasm outpaces my energy.

901 301 301 01 is a casting part #, nothing to do with a serial # or a type #

Serial numbers are typically stamped on the bottom rib. My COA for my 914/6 didn't list a serial #....but it's stamped properly to differeniate it from the 914/4 trans which outwardly the same but differently geared.
