Yeah, but I think you can fix it. How much overlap is there? If an inch or so you may have enough. See if you can remove the whole panel and try to reorient so you are at least next to or under the cover and go from there. If not, just get your carpet maker to cut a new panel. Other than that it looks fine.
you probably don't have a steamer, but... if you use a hair dryer instead, you can manipulate the carpet a lot easier and remove the bolges and non-conforming areas such as near the lock post.. don't worry … it will be very easy to correct every thing,
Before you resort to the streamer or hairdryer, which are both useful, just park out in the sun on a warm, sunny day and see what happens to your wrinkles (the car's, not yours!). That will be your starting point for any massaging. I pulled up a number of pieces a couple of times to get things right. That's the beauty of contact cement.

I'm gonna tackle it again this weekend to see if I can get some of the wrinkles out and fix the trans cover piece.
