BaT Description:
This 1970 Porsche 911S was sold new in California and spent time in Texas with the third owner before being acquired by the current owner in April 2015. A bare-metal repaint in the factory Albert Blue was carried out in 2016, and the numbers-matching 2.2-liter flat-six was rebuilt at around the same time by marque specialist Tyson Schmidt. Modifications include 10.3:1 pistons, piston oil squirters, and oil bypass mods by Ollies. According to the included Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, the car was equipped from new with Recaro sport seats, power windows, and a Blaupunkt radio. This 911S is now being offered for sale on behalf of the current owner with records beginning in 1973 and a clear California title. After a previous color change to silver, the body was stripped to bare metal and repainted its original shade of Albert Blue (1818) in 2016. The work was performed by John Esposito’s Porsche Repair and reportedly included removing and re-anodizing the window trim and replacing the TTG horn grilles with AFS replicas. Receipts are said to total approximately $35k. A 6-digit California blue plate is mounted out back. An updated side mirror, TTG fog lights, and a non-original steel front bumper cover have been added. 15” Fuchs wheels were refinished and are wrapped in 195/65 Continental tires. Cross-drilled brake rotors were also installed.
Replica Recaro sport seats are trimmed in black leatherette and feature houndstooth inserts, and a set of Coco mats protect the squareweave carpets. Images of the front trunk, body stamping, and factory data plates can be seen. Interior equipment include power windows, a factory Blaupunk stereo, and a stock 4-spoke steering wheel with an aftermarket leather cover. The 49k indicated miles are not believed to be accurate, and approximately 250 miles have been added during the current ownership.
Power comes from an injected 2.2L flat-six paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The engine was rebuilt in 2016 by Tyson Schmidt of Pro Motorsports after a rod bolt let loose at low rpm. Work included the installation of custom 10.3:1 Arias pistons, 85mm Biral cylinders, a new clutch, a 66mm crankshaft, OE rods, and a replacement left case half. Receipts from the work are said to exceed $21k, and additional records reportedly date to 1973. Stamping #6300078 matches the number listed on the CoA, confirming the engine as original. The included Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirms the original colors and lists the optional equipment.

My favorite color. I am thinking of painting my 1972 this color. "Replica" Recaro seats?

BaT Description:
This 1968 Porsche 911L has been with the seller for 29 years and features a modified 2.2-liter flat-six, which is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. A repaint in Signal Red was carried out in 2015, and the car also features a black vinyl interior along with 15″ Fuchs wheels and an electric sliding sunroof. The 911L was a one-year only model for the US, and this example received 85 out of 90 possible points at the 2017 Concourse D’Elegance in Dayton, Ohio as discussed below. Recent service included a new front main seal and battery, as well as the suspension work described below. This SWB 911 is now being offered with service records since 1980, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean Ohio title in the seller’s name.
In 2015, the car was repainted in Signal Red using DuPont ChromaBase and DuPont ChromaClear. Due to corrosion, sheet metal was replaced in the front floor pan, inner and outer rockers, rear torsion tube, doors, and fenders. In 2017, the car received 85 out of 90 points at the Dayton Concourse D’Elegance. Judging deductions were for the aftermarket steering wheel, dual-tip exhaust, later-style air conditioning compressor, and a spare Fuchs wheel with black painted spokes.
Koni shocks are paired to front torsion bars, which the seller adjusted to lower than stock. 15×5.5″ Fuchs wheels are fitted with Dunlop Signature II tires and new tubes purchased in January of 2018. The seller modified a full size muffler with a right side exhaust tip to match the stock left side, and the original exhaust air-injection pump has been removed. The electric sunroof was transplanted from a wrecked car by cutting off the original roof and welding the replacement item at the base of the posts. The sunroof was wired in and drain lines were added. In 2015, the sunroof seals were replaced during the 2015 repaint.
A previous owner replaced the center nose section of the car between the headlights and back to the fuel tank with parts from a 1966 911 (VIN #304694). The rest of chassis is the 1968 911L VIN 11805130, as stamped inside the dashboard. A Momo competition wheel has been fitted and the oil level sender was replaced. 58,497 are shown on the odometer, though true mileage is unknown. The odometer does work, but the seller reports that the vehicle’s title notes a mileage discrepancy. The seller has added 11,034 miles in 29 years of ownership. The interior is finished in vinyl with a leather-covered dashboard and can be seen in more details in the video above. In 2016, the instruments were removed to replace the light bulbs and repaint the dash.
In 2000, the type 901/14 flat-six was rebuilt with new bearings, gaskets, rod bolts, and oil-pressure-fed chain tensioners. The displacement was enlarged to 2.2 liters with cylinders and pistons from a 911E. The heads came from the 2.4-liter 911T. Other modifications include MSD 6A ignition, JWE rebuilt distributor, Weber 40 IDA 3C carburetors, and Watershield air cleaners. Power is sent to the rear wheels by a 5-speed manual transaxle. Compression tests from 2017 are documented in the gallery below and show readings of 130-137 psi across all 6 cylinders.
Over several years, the seller acquired the air conditioning system in pieces and installed it. This required cutting the front pan for the condenser, fitting the evaporator in the compartment behind the spare tire, running hoses, and wiring the system. The seller used a later rotary Sanden compressor which has recently been recharged with R134.
In 2017, the front main seal, intermediate shaft cover gasket, and camshaft bearing seals were replaced as shown by the invoices. 930 lower valve covers and the stock upper valve covers were machined flat and the gaskets replaced. A new battery was installed, and both of the carburetors were cleaned, adjusted, and synchronized. Suspension work in 2018 included adjustment of the front wheel bearings and new front and rear sway bar bushings.
This car is downright scary. The judges that gave this car 85 of 90 are equally scary.

Right, lots of wrong details in that one, and the mix of VINs is scary too. Looks like the car is a 66L and/or a 68 :) Getting a title might be a bit difficult. However all depends on hammer price.

I last sold a car by advertising for private sale decades before anyone had been murdered by someone responding to a Craig's List ad. Advertise for private sale and you'll get lots of people wasting your time, trying to negotiate for a best price over the phone while intending to knock the car to demand more off once they see it, not to mention creative financing proposals.
Were I to sell a car today, I'd go with consignment. Let a dealer handle those time wasters who aren't deterred because it's a dealer. A friend sold a Carrera RS European Collectibles a few years back and had a good experience. Dealers may be receptive to this because they don't tie up any capital although they might be more eager to move the cars they do own.
Make sure the dealer's reputable. If--just in case--they go bankrupt, will you get your car back?
Another option is sale via auction. Set a reasonable reserve and you've got a really good shot at selling the car on a date certain. Auctions are not fire-and-forget: you need to be there representing your car and answering questions. It just so happens that the Monterey Auctions--a great venue for a longhood 911S--conclude this weekend...
Where are you?
If you're in Southern California, you have lots and lots of options. If you're in Nome, Alaska, not so much.
Bring a Trailer's an option and you don't have to ship your car. You'll need to log in daily to handle questions and supply lots of quality photos. Check 1961 Porsche 356B 1600S Roadster at Bring a Trailer for great photos.
I don't know the exact requirements but Bring a Trailer won't accept cars that recently have been heavily advertised or presented at other auctions.
Whatever you do, buyers for classic Porsches will expect to see a Certificate of Authenticity and/or a Kardex.

• Owned by the vendor in 1978/1979 and from 2009 on wards
• Professionally restored by Prill Porsche Classics
• Circa 800 miles since completion in 2015
• Restoration bills totaling circa £75,000 available
• Beautiful condition
This particular 2.2-litre 911S is one of only 44 right-hand drive examples delivered to the UK in 1971 out of 78 cars in total, making it a very rare Porsche indeed. Sold via Duncan Hamilton in 1971, there is a photo on file of the car outside the Duncan Hamilton dealership, and it still bears the dashboard sticker from this sale. The current vendor owned 'GPK 50K' during 1978/1979 and then, upon seeing it for sale some 30 years later in 2009, had to acquire it. A six-year comprehensive restoration then ensued, the task being entrusted to Andy Prill (Prill Porsche Classics), one of the most highly respected specialists in the business. The Porsche was returned to its delighted owner in October 2015, since when it has been used sparingly, covering a mere 800-or-so miles. Presented in beautiful condition, this expertly restored 911S is offered with current MoT, a V5C Registration Certificate, and restoration bills totalling some £75,000.

Auction Description:
- One of 499 built for the U.S. market
- Matching-numbers drivetrain as verified by Porsche Certificate of Authenticity
- Factory options include Becker radio, headrests, and tinted rear window
- Three owners from new; always lovingly maintained
- Sympathetically restored; recently serviced and prepared for driving enjoyment
The 911 L was limited to just 499 examples built in 1968 especially for the American market. The ‘L’ designation, for ‘Luxe,’ was essentially the European premier ‘S’ model fitted with an air-pump equipped engine to meet the safety and emissions regulations exacted stateside. Easily recognizable for its small side-marker lights, which are not integrated into the wrap-around tail lights or parking light clusters, the 911 L featured the 1,991-cc flat-six engine, producing 130 hp and a top speed of 131 mph. This model was the most expensive Porsche in the American market with a sticker price $600 over previous offerings. It became an immediate success and instantly collectible as a one-year-only production model.
This superb 911 L is a rare matching-numbers example, as verified by the accompanying Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche. Chassis no. 11805291 was completed at the Porsche factory on 2 April 1968 in Light Ivory (Code 6804) with black leatherette interior, as it is offered today. It was also equipped with the five-speed manual transmission and optioned with a Becker radio, loudspeaker, antenna, driver and passenger headrests, tinted rear window, and fitted with Dunlop tires.
Research suggests that this L has had only three owners from new, the third and current being a highly respected Porsche collector in New Jersey. Approximately eight years ago the car was entrusted to Gene Kirschner, a New Jersey marque specialist, for a sympathetic restoration. Autohaus of New Jersey completed the mechanical work, while sports car specialist Tuxedo Motorsport of Tuxedo Park, New York, attended to the cosmetics. For the most part the interior was in excellent condition, showing the gentle wear of a well-loved car, which had never been raced or rallied, and showed less than 94,000 miles on the odometer. The seats were refinished in the factory-correct black leatherette, and the exterior was repainted in its original Light Ivory. Otherwise, this 911 L remains largely original, thus preserving the integrity of a superbly maintained example.
This rare Porsche coupe comes with the original tool kit and owner’s manual. Recently serviced, with new tires, belts, and a valve adjustment in preparation for its maiden rally (though the owner was unable to participate at the eleventh hour), this 911 L is primed and prepped for its next adventure, be it an organized rally, or simply eager exploration of the road less traveled.

Auction Description:
• Desirable 'S' version of the short-wheelbase 911
• Dating from the last year of 'SWB' 911 production
• Matching numbers and colours
• In Belgium since the 1980s
• Desirable colour combination of Tangerine with black interior from new
The Porsche 911S offered here, chassis number '11800760', is one of the last of the early short-wheelbase type much favoured by the historic rallying fraternity, a situation that has led to unmodified examples such as this one becoming a great rarity and consequently much in demand.
Finished in arguably the best colour combination of Tangerine with black leatherette interior, this Porsche 911 was delivered new to Italy on 1st June 1968, and is instantly recognisable as an Italy-delivered car by virtue of its special indicators, which were only fitted for the Italian market. This car was also equipped from new with the desirable five-speed gearbox option.
In February 1987, the car moved to Brussels, Belgium with Mr Pietro De Rosa, who kept it until recently. Unusually, this car retains its original Belgian registration papers dating from 1987, which are still current. Some mechanical refurbishment was carried out in 2016, while the carburettors were professionally overhauled only a few months ago. Recently the underbody and sills benefited from extensive work to make excellent again. An older restoration, this car retains its original interior and can be described as in lovely condition, 'on the button' and ready to go.
Accompanying documentation consists of a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity; Certificate of Conformity issued by D'Ieteren in 1987 when the car came to Belgium; old Contrôle Technique dated 1987; invoices for recent works and parts; compression test; and a Classic Data report confirming the car's condition and estimated value of €175,000 in 2016.

BaT Description:
This 1973 Porsche 911S Targa is finished in Silver Metallic over a black leatherette interior and shows an indicated 81k miles. Sold new by a dealership in Lincoln Nebraska, it was built during the final year of longhood F-series 911 production and comes equipped with a set of optional sport seats, and dealer-installed air conditioning. Power comes from a fuel injected 2.4-liter flat six paired to a 5-speed manual transaxle, both of which are numbers-matching and have been rebuilt within the past six years. This 911S is being offered by an independent Porsche shop in Arizona on the seller’s behalf, and offered with documentation, a Porsche CoA, and a clear Nebraska title.
A repaint in the factory Silver Metallic was performed in 1994. Photos of the process, showing the exterior trim removed and the exterior primed have been provided. Deco-trim and wheel well moldings were reinstalled during reassembly, as the car was originally equipped. The targa top has also been recovered in recent years. A few imperfections have accumulated in the trim and paint since the work was completed. The 6″x15″ Fuchs wheel were reconditioned and come wrapped in Michelin tires. Braking is from 4-wheel vented discs with aluminum ‘S’ calipers up front, and the system is plumbed with braided stainless hoses.
The interior is described as a mix of original and replacement items, including the factory-installed sport seats and Blaupunkt stereo. Air conditioning was reportedly added by the dealership using factory components when the car was new, and the system was serviced in the last year. Approximately 81k miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer.
In S trim, the mechanically fuel-injected 2.4-liter flat six was factory rated at 190 horsepower at 6,500 rpm. This example was reportedly rebuilt approximately 2,500 miles ago in 2014 by a Nebraska-based specialist, with machine work handled by Walt Watson of Competition Engineering. A replacement 1973-specific, RS/S style trombone oil cooler has been added in the passenger side front fender. The 5-speed 915 transaxle was reportedly overhauled two years prior. Engine #6331487 is shown and matched by the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity below. A photo of the matching transaxle stamping #337336 is provided in the gallery.
The maintenance book shows dealer stampings up to 1976, and records dating from 1984 have been retained in a service file. Documentation reportedly shows the ownership history listed below:
- Purchased new by Mr. Reid of Hamburg, Iowa and put into service 8/73 with 95 miles shown.
- The second owner was Mr. Stanley Mills from Lincoln, Nebraska
- The third owner was Mr. Woods of Lincoln, Nebraska. Sale date 7/84 with 46,479 miles shown.
- Sold to Mr. Virgil Stewart of Lincoln, Nebraska in 5/86 with approximately 50,400 indicated miles.
- Sold to Mr. Krantz of Omaha, Nebraska in 1/88 with 51,605 indicated miles.
- Purchased by Mr. Hutchinson of Lincoln, Nebraska in 8/90 with approximately 56k indicated miles. Service records show that he added 12k miles during his ownership.
- The current owner purchased 1/95 from Mr. Hutchinson with 68k indicated miles.
The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity lists the original drivetrain, options, and colors.

Love the video Frank! The tones and tunes match perfectly!

BaT Description:
This 1968 Porsche 911 is a one-year-only L model and has been owned by the seller for the past 10 years and 6,500 miles. Finished in metallic silver over a black leatherette interior, it is equipped with a factory Golde electric sunroof, 15″ Fuchs alloy wheels, fixed-back GT seats, a wood steering wheel, and more. Power is supplied by a Weber-carbureted 2.0-liter flat-six paired with a 901 5-speed gearbox, and service work performed within the past year included an oil change as well as the installation of a rebuilt alternator. The SWB 911 is now being offered in Knoxville with records dating back to the 1980s, a Porsche CoA, spares, and a clear Tennessee title in the seller’s name.
The 911S was unavailable for the US-market in 1968, and the 911L became the range-topping offering. This example left the factory finished in Blood Orange, though a color change was performed under previous ownership in 2006. Gold-lettered badging remains affixed to the trunk, and 3-bar rocker strips have been added to the sides. A set of uninstalled polished Deco rocker guards are included with the sale.
The L received the same suspension and vented brakes as offered on the S. Period-style Vredestein tires come mounted on a set of reconditioned authentic 5.5″x15″ Fuchs alloy wheels, and a matching spare resides in the front compartment.
A pair aftermarket fixed-back seats trimmed in a matching black leatherette with pepita centers have been added, though a set of factory seats accompany the sale. White-lettered gauges were also introduced for 1968, and this car comes equipped with a period Becker Europa radio and automatic antenna. A 4-spoke wood wheel and 917-style balsa shift knob have been added. North Hollywood Speedometer rebuilt the original tachometer. 30k miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer, which the seller believes has rolled over once based on service records from the early 1980s.
The 901/14 2.0-liter flat-six wears stamping #3280124, which corresponds to a 1968 production year, though it does not match the Porsche CoA. Induction is through a pair of Weber carburetors, as original, and a 5-speed 902/1 gearbox is responsible for transmitting power to the rear wheels. Service records dating back to the early 1980s are included with the sale.
Damage is present on the right front section of the floor pan, which the seller indicates probably happened many years ago, prior to his acquisition. Rust repair was performed in the passenger-side front wheel well five years ago, and a section of the rear seat bucket metal base has rusted through. Additional photos of the underside have been provided in the gallery. The included Porsche Certificate of Authenticity shows a production date of 10/26/1968 and lists the original options, drivetrain, and colors.

- Highly desirable U.S.-specification model
- In current ownership for 43 years; fewer than 38,500 original miles
- Porsche Production Specification certificate
The 1970 911 S coupe offered here was ordered with U.S. equipment – one of just a fraction originally sent to the U.S. Originally ordered in the current color combination of Tangerine over a Black Leatherette interior, this 911 S is confirmed to retain its original matching-numbers engine. Additional optional equipment included comfort equipment, Pirelli tires, and an antenna with loudspeaker and noise suppression.
Incredibly, this car has had only three owners – passing from friend to friend before being acquired by the current owner while finishing his graduate degree. At the time of purchase, the 911 S had only 29,000 miles and the original tires had just been worn down. Forty-three years on, the 911 now wears vintage Michelin XWX tires, and its paint is original except for a repaint of the hood 20 years ago and a recent repaint of the deck lid, for which receipts are available.
This fine example of a highly sought-after model is supplied with its original spare tire and wheel, tool kit, and factory-issued Porsche Production Specification certificate.

BaT Description:
This 1967 Porsche 911S Coupe was built on September 8, 1966 finished in Silver Metallic over black leatherette with pepita cloth inserts. The car was acquired by the seller as a partially-complete project out of Vancouver in 2005, and a refurbishment to stock specifications was completed 10 years later. Work included the installation of a replacement 2.0L flat-six and refreshing the Type 901 5-speed manual transmission, as well as bodywork, a repaint in the factory color, and new upholstery. Approximately 800 miles have since been added, and the vehicle was featured in a 2015 issue of Excellence Magazine. This SWB 911S is now being offered for sale with records, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
A repaint in the original shade of Silver Metallic (6206) was performed during the refurbishment, which was finished in 2015. The car is equipped with a pair of fog lights, and detailed photos in the gallery show the condition of the lenses and trim. 15” Fuchs wheels are wrapped in Michelin tires, and a spare, factory tool kit, and jack are included in the front trunk. A 6-digit California blue plate is mounted out back.
Black leatherette seats feature pepita cloth inserts, and the car retains its factory manual windows, 4-spoke steering wheel, and Blaupunkt AM/FM radio. Stock VDO gauges are pictured up close in the gallery, and over 24k miles are shown on the odometer, with true mileage unknown.
The 2.0L flat-six was reportedly sourced from a 1967 Porsche 911S and is mated to a 901 5-speed manual transmission. Recent maintenance included a valve adjustment and carburetor work, and compression results are said to land between 165-175 psi with 3-4% leakdown across all six cylinders. The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirms the factory colors and optional equipment.

An absolutely immaculately restored 1969 Porsche 911 2.0 S targa on offer. Over a 3-year period, this incredibly wonderful example underwent a very detailed restoration process, which took it back to its “factory original” state. A well-recognised Dutch Porsche specialist firm carried out this restoration. The body-off, down to every last screw being E-coated has been finished in eye-catching “Hell Gelb (117). The perfect bodywork has correct fitting body panels, beautiful paintwork and a great overall finish. A full mechanical overhaul of the car was obviously included in the restoration process. The complete restoration has been extensively documented with invoices, photo`s, an engine test rapport and expert valuation report. The car we have in is the rare and appealing 170 PS (168bhp) 2.0 S Targa, of which only 614 went into production. It has retained the original matching numbers engine, original Recaro sport seats, upholstered in Pepita, both front and rear, original Fuchs wheels, original fog lights and front and rear seatbelts. Dealer Description:
Finished in special order canary yellow (R1012) over black interior, this short wheel base Targa stands out immediately.
The car has been with the same owner for 33 years and as an active PCA member he has enjoyed the car in many touring events and has never missed a Monterey Historic event since 1985. The car took 3rd place in the Monterey Porsche Parade in 2014 and was also featured in the S-registry Esses magazine in 2016.
The car came to the present owner with 104k miles in 1985 from a good friend who was the second owner and drove most of the cars miles. The body was resprayed in 1984 in its correct canary yellow and the engine was also rebuilt at that time. Since 1985, the car was driven about 46k miles and it runs and drives wonderful. The 2.0l power plant develops 130hp and moves the lightweight Porsche with ease. The 5 speed transmission shifts tight and the car goes down the road very well. A joy to to drive.
This is a western car which lived only in California and since 2006 in Nevada. Very solid floors with no apparent corrosion problems. The body is nice and straight with very good panel and door fit tolerances. Both doors close with the typical Porsche “door ping”!
The car has never had a full restoration and aside from the outside paint, carpets and headliner, the car is very original and in excellent condition.
The correct Fuchs wheels have been refurbished by Al Reed and are wrapped in brand new Yokohama tires.
1968 marked the last year for the short wheel base cars for Porsche and the L (Luxury) has all the features of an S aside from the non EPA compliant S engine.
This is a very nicely documented and enthusiast owned 911 with just the right amount of patina. Numbers matching with Certificate of Authenticity and accompanied by factory owners- and service manuals, period Porsche brochures, jack and toolkit.
Located in Genoa, NV.

BaT Description:
This 1971 Porsche 911S Targa is a European-market example that was acquired by the seller out of Georgia three years ago and subsequently refurbished to stock specifications. Work included installation of a rebuilt 2.2-liter 911S flat-six, rebuilding the 5-speed manual transmission, refreshing the suspension and braking systems, and performing a bare-metal repaint in the factory Metallic Blue. The car was reportedly driven daily for a year, and the seller has added approximately 2,000 kilometers (~1,200 miles) during his ownership. The most recent service was performed three months ago, and this 911S is now being offered for sale with records from the seller, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
A repaint in the factory shade of Metallic Blue (84) was completed by Sacio Enterprises of San Diego, California in 2015, and bodywork was also reportedly performed as necessary. Exterior trim includes gold rear badging, Euro-spec amber taillights, a pair of driving lamps, and chrome accents around the wheel wells. Factory 15” Fuchs wheels are wrapped in Michelin Premier tires date-coded from 2015. The seller notes some missing chrome trim around the windshield washer nozzles, as well as a crack in the windshield.
The cabin is trimmed in black leatherette with matching carpets and a stock 4-spoke steering wheel. European-market instrumentation is retained, and over 39k kilometers (~24k miles) are shown on the odometer, though total mileage is unknown.
The non-original, fuel-injected 2.2L flat-six (*6301140*) is from a period 911S. It was rebuilt by Wayne Baker of Personalized Autohaus and installed by Black Forest Automotive, both of San Diego, California. The 5-speed manual transmission has also been rebuilt, and new oil and fuel lines were installed. An oil change and inspection were carried out three months ago.
Suspension and brake refreshment included new bushings, calipers, and a master cylinder. Undercoating has been applied to the chassis. The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirms the factory colors and optional equipment.

This beautiful 911 S coupe is one of 1,430 produced for the 1973 model year. It left the factory finished in special-order Silver Metallic paint (8080) with black leather (66) sport seats, tinted windshield and side glass, and an electric sunroof. It was delivered by Bob Hagestad Porsche-Audi in Lakewood, Colorado, in July 1973 and thence to its first owner, Mr. Cliff Weiss of Golden, Colorado. This very desirable and carefully maintained 911 S coupe subsequently passed through the hands of several additional enthusiasts in Minnesota and New York state before acquisition by the consignor in 2015. Its history includes extensive mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment in 2002 by its fourth owner, noted Porsche technician Rick Moe of Mound, Minnesota. The interior, with its original leather-wrapped “bow-tie” steering wheel and Blaupunkt stereo radio, is in excellent condition and shows very little wear. The Fuchs “Windmill” light alloy wheels are likewise in fine condition and are shod with period-correct Michelin XWX high-performance tires.
This outstanding low-mileage 911 S is supplied with an original tool kit, jack, and spare wheel; owner’s manual and factory warranty booklet; a detailed history file; and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. It would make a fine addition to any collection of notable Porsche models and score well at club-level concours.

Dealer Description:
The 1973 Porsche 911S is currently for sale at our shop. It was originally delivered to a buyer in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in February 1973, in the vibrant color of Viper Green (Emerald/Kelly Green), with black interior, per the C.O.A. In 2004, the car was imported into the U.S. by a recognized Porsche collector in Connecticut. At the time, the original engine was fully rebuilt to 2.7 RS specifications by well known East Coast engine builder, Rick Cabell. This 911S was then acquired by it’s current owner in 2009, with just over 56,000 original miles on the odometer. All Numbers are Matching.
Now with just over 64,000 miles, the car has had one sympathetic re-spray of it’s original Viper Green, as well as a refreshing of the underside of the car.
Options added include:
- Restored 1973 (One Year Only) Leather Recaro Sport Seats
- Auxiliary external Trombone Type Oil Cooler
- Bosch H1 Headlights
- Through the grill, Bosch Fog Lights
- RS 380mm Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel.
- Michelin XWX Sport Radial Tires
- Original Tool Kit and Owner’s Manual included.
-

The car is really really nice...! Needs absolutely nothing.
This current owner purchased the car from the same guy who owned the Steve McQueen car.

- Delivered New to Italy in Striking Black over Beige Color Scheme

This 911 S was completed in May 1973, handsomely finished in black over beige leatherette upholstery and equipped with tinted glass and Michelin tires. It was delivered to its first owner in Italy, according to its accompanying Porsche Certificate of Origin. Details of early ownership are sparse, but it is clear that the 911 S was exported to the US and owned by Joseph Courtney of Connecticut prior to 2013.
In 2014, he commissioned marque specialists Musante Motorsports of South Windsor, Connecticut, to perform a complete, show-quality restoration. An album of detailed restoration photographs leaves no doubt as to the level of time, expertise, and money expended on returning this Porsche to its factory-correct condition.
The car was fully dismantled; the chassis and suspension were stripped; the brakes, hubs, trim, and electrical components were restored; and an array of elements on the car were examined, repaired, or replaced with OEM parts, as needed. The body was stripped, primed, and refinished in the original special-order black finish, and then carefully reassembled, paying meticulous attention to panel fit.
The interior was trimmed in the correct beige leatherette material, and the wheels and outside trim were refinished to ensure a bright and polished presentation. The original 2.4-liter engine was rebuilt and detailed to show standards. Today, under new ownership, the car remains in superb condition in all respects and is accompanied by a Porsche Certificate of Origin, owner’s manual, and tool kit.
This meticulously restored 1973 911 S is an excellent candidate for a variety of concours, PCA events, and organized tours. Its stunning original color scheme and desirable Italian-delivery specification set this car apart from other early 911 models. Given its impressive presentation and reputation as the most refined early 911 model, this 1973 S is worthy of serious consideration.

Auction Description:
- First Year of the Celebrated 911S Model, 1,991 cc, twin Weber 40IDS carbs, 160 bhp and 5-speed gearbox.
- A faithful tribute to Vic Elford and David Stone's 1967 Monte Carlo Rally Winner
- Presented in original Polo Red livery. Retains matching-numbers engine
- The subject of a Feature Article in the September 2012 Issue of Excellence: The Magazine About Porsche
- Accompanied by many original parts, tools, and extensive documentation
- European delivered car
According to its accompanying Certificate of Authenticity this, left-hand drive, matching numbers, '67 911 S left the factory in October 1966 finished in Polo Red and was destined for the European market. The Certificate also states that this car was ordered with various desirable factory options including Recaro sports seats and very rare limited slip differential and drive shafts. Subsequently, the car was exported to the US where it was to remain until 2017. According to the car's History File, in 2005 it underwent a full restoration by The Vintage Motorcar Company in Atlanta, Georgia in its original colours to a 'Concours' standard and as a result, enjoyed much success on the Concours circuit.
The next owner was presumably interested in the 911's 1960s sporting pedigree and may even have been a fan of London-born rally driver, Vic Elford. "Quick Vic" was uniquely versatile and in an amazing five-month period during 1968 he won the Monte Carlo Rally, nine days later won the Daytona 24 hours in a Porsche 907 'Long-Tail', 13 weeks later won the tortuous Targo Florio after spending a solid 5 hours in his 907, and 9 weeks after that finished a remarkable 4th in a very wet French Grand Prix at Rouen in a works Cooper, his first drive in a Grand Prix car! However, it must have been the Monte Carlo Rally that really impressed our 911's new owner and having seen the many images of the rally's end when Vic and co-driver David Stone brought their tired and battered, Polo Red, 911 home to be heralded the clear winner, he decided that #306301S should be transformed into an homage to the Elford car.
He then commissioned marque specialists 'Paterek Brothers' to replicate the rally car's looks and this they did complete with driving lights, rally timer, passenger map light, rear wiper and other period correct details. The original engine was rebuilt by Autohaus of Chatham in New Jersey at the same time. Once the impressive job was finished, Vic Elford himself proclaimed it " A spectacular, exact nut and bolt re-creation, exactly how we drove it".
Now offered for sale by our UK-based private owner and supplied with a superb comprehensive history file and a selection of tools. The car is offered with a set of original sports seats and Fuch alloys should the new owner wish to return the car to standard S specification. Silverstone Auctions are proud to offer this special and interesting 911. This rare, SWB 1967 'S' offers a unique combination of both originality and motorsport character and could be easily returned to its original road-going form or, ideally in our opinion, enjoyed in its current, iconic guise as a tribute to one of motorsport's greats.

- Desirable European-delivery 911 S Targa
- Finished in its original special-order Gemini Blue color
- Extensive mechanical and cosmetic restoration
The 1973 911 S Targa offered here is a European-delivery model, though now with a properly set-up MFI system that was originally finished in a distinctive Gemini Blue metallic paint over a black interior. Its original owner took delivery in Europe but imported it to Jacksonville, Florida, where he kept it until June 2001. A subsequent owner in 2007 commissioned an extensive restoration by specialists on the West Coast costing more than $80,000. Its original 2.4-liter engine and transmission were rebuilt by Haus of Performance and Ray Stevens. The 911 S Targa’s body was stripped to bare metal, repaired where necessary, and repainted in Gemini Blue. Restored Fuchs wheels completed by Al Reed Specialty Polishing in California are wrapped by period-style Pirelli tires.
Its only visual modification comes inside, where a pair of period-correct sports seats wrapped in houndstooth upholstery supplied by Autos International replace the comparatively sedate factory 911 S units. The crack-free dashboard features a correct speaker grille as well as a radio blank plate, just as how it would have left Zuffenhausen more than 45 years ago. Its condition shows limited, gentle use since its restoration was completed.
This 911 S Targa will be delivered to its new owner with a large file documenting its restoration as well as a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

- Desirable first-year production 911 S
- Finished in its original shade of ‘Blutorange’
- Retains its original engine and gearbox
- Delivered new to California
This Porsche 911 S was delivered in 1967, the first year of production for the top-of-the-range model, on 3 April via VW Pacific of Culver City in Los Angeles to Dr. Juan Araujo and would remain in the Golden State for over 40 years. Its next documented owner was Peter Triolo of Modesto. He purchased the car in October of 1997, selling in August 2011 to Mike Miller. Exported to Germany in 2014, it was purchased by the current owner one year later. Highly original throughout, it still retains its original engine and gearbox, as confirmed by accompanying documentation from Porsche, in addition to sealed original floor panels. Stampings on fenders, doors and motor lid all bear the last three digits of the chassis number.
Furthermore, the 911 S comes with an original sales brochure, service manual, jack and tool bag. The front seats have been refurbished, retaining the original black vinyl, while the back seats are original and preserved. The engine, gearbox and suspension were overhauled in 2017, with the engine producing at 161 ps on the dyno. Finally, the car boasts a new coat of its original ‘Blutorange’ paintwork.
With its long-term Californian history, rare colour and stunning condition, this short-wheelbase 911 S is one of the most intact and correct Porsche cars currently offered for sale.

- Three Owners from New
- Original Engine and Colour Combination
- Documented Ownership from New
- Porsche Certificate of Authenticity
Finished in Gemini Blue Metallic with a Black leather interior, this 2.4 S completed production at Porsche’s factory in October 1972 and was sold new in Italy three months later to Gian Piero del Sante for 6,000,000 Italian lire. The car was specified from new with several options, as confirmed on the Porsche Certificate of Conformity, which included Recaro sports seats, head rests, Koni dampers with brakes in the front and rear, a rear wiper, and white fog lights over the bumper, as well as a heated and tinted windscreen and side glass. Along with its type 911/53 engine and 915/02 transmission, this 911 has the engine oil tank and filler located in the engine compartment, confirming it to be the final and ultimate 1973 specification.
Gian Piero registered this 911 on the Modenese license ‘MO 287723’ on 2 January 1973 and retained ownership of the car for 13 years, before selling it in April 1986 to Cecilia Scanagatta in Trento, who then registered the car on license ‘TN 401753’.
This 911 remained with its second owner in Italy for a further 14 years, before being exported in June 2000. Deciding to trade in his Porsche 356C, this 911 was bought by its current owner later that same year and was registered on UK license ‘ABW 341L’. Throughout this ownership, the 911 received regular servicing by Official Porsche Centre West London, Maxted-Page & Prill Limited and Prill Porsche Classics. Invoices documenting this regular maintenance are included in the car’s impressive history file.
In 2006, the Porsche was repainted by renowned Porsche specialist Maxted-Page & Prill Limited. At this time, additional work, including a full engine service and change of gearbox oil, was also undertaken and the engine oil tank was removed, inspected and repaired.
Eight years later, in September 2014, this 911 was once again sent to Maxted-Page & Prill for service and improvement works, including removing the engine, performing a leak-down test which showed all cylinders to be within tolerance, inspecting the engine and partially rebuilding, changing gearbox fluid, cleaning the engine bay and ancillary components, vapour blasting various mechanical components, checking and adjusting valve clearances, replacing the rear crankshaft oil seal and fitting new exhaust silencers. This work is documented in the history file, with the invoice totalling to more than £12,000.
More recently, in August 2016, the car was fully serviced by Prill Porsche Classics, costing in excess of £3,000. In October 2017, the 911 had some bodywork corrosion removed, with the sills, door shuts and kidney bowls being replaced by Prill Porsche Classics.
Today, the car presents beautifully in its original colour combination and with its original engine and is accompanied by a detailed history file that documents ownership and maintenance work, as well as its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. The ultimate 911 2.4 S — who can resist?

FEATURED MEDIA
Esses, Fall 2002, “David Mohlman’s ’72 911 S”
THIS CAR
For the 1972 model year, Porsche extensively upgraded its 911 flagship. Commonly referred to as the E series and produced in three versions – T, E, and S, in ascending order of both price and performance – its mechanical changes included an enlarged 2.4-liter engine. The Type 915 five-speed transmission was an all-new design with increased torque capacity and featured a more conventional “H” gate pattern for the first four gears instead of the previous dog-leg arrangement.
A small chin spoiler, the result of aerodynamic work by Porsche engineers and standard on the 911 S, enhanced the car’s appearance and reduced front-end lift at speed. To improve weight distribution and handling, the oil tank was mounted ahead of the rear wheel, prompting an external filler cap to be installed below the passenger-side rear window. The top-of-the-range 911 S utilized Bosch mechanical fuel injection and developed a stout 190 hp at 6,500 rpm. In its February 1972 issue, Car and Driver declared, “The transformation is tremendous. Never before could the 911 be classified as a high-powered car; now it can.”
According to its Certificate of Authenticity, this 1972 911 2.4 S left Porsche’s factory finished in Silver Metallic paint over a black leatherette interior. A US-specification vehicle, optional equipment included a limited-slip differential, stabilizer bars, KONI shocks, tinted glass, and antenna. One of only 1,750 high-performance S coupes built for 1972, this 911 S was purchased new in Texas, where it resided with its first two enthusiast owners and was upgraded to 2.7-liter RS engine specification early in its life using its original, matching-numbers case.
Acquired by noted Porsche collector David Mohlman in September 2000, this car was stripped to bare metal and repainted in its original hue. Additionally, desirable factory sport seats trimmed in black leather and wider 7″ x 15″ Fuchs wheels were sourced and installed. After two additional interim custodians, this 911 S passed into current collector ownership via well-known Porsche racer and specialist Dirk Layer.
In 2015, Rare Drive Inc., the award-winning restoration firm in New Hampshire, was entrusted to perform extensive refurbishment work. During the yearlong process, a concours-standard bare-metal repaint was done in original Silver Metallic and the original transmission was rebuilt, while other mechanical, braking, and suspension components were restored or replaced where needed.
Supplied with books, tools, Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and an extensive file of documentation dating to the early 1980s, this well-loved and well-maintained 911 S in attractive colors with RS engine upgrades presents in excellent condition throughout. Combining classic looks with superb performance, this example deserves serious consideration by any Porsche enthusiast or collector.

PROVENANCE
Gerry Goldsmith, Bellerose, New York (acquired new via Porsche Cars of Manhattan Inc. in 1967)
Current Owner (acquired from the above)
THIS CAR
The Porsche 911 is an undisputed motoring icon and one of the most successful sports cars of all time. While any 911 is inherently desirable, the earliest examples have become increasingly prized due to their purity of line, lively performance, and vintage character. Of the early short-wheelbase 911 models, the most collectible is the high-performance S variant, introduced for the 1967 model year. Boasting 160 bhp, lightweight Fuchs alloy wheels, ventilated disc brakes, revised gear ratios, and improved suspension, the original 911 S was one of the most capable – and sought-after – sports cars of its era.
The 1967 911 S presented here, chassis 306672S, was completed at the Porsche factory on November 7, 1966. Destined for North American delivery, this car was finished in Polo Red (6602) with black vinyl upholstery and equipped with Dunlop SP tires and a Webasto gasoline heater. Distributed through Porsche of America Corporation in Teaneck, New Jersey, the new 911 S was sold new through Porsche Cars of Manhattan Inc.
As documented by the original sales invoice and copy of the factory Kardex, this 911 S was first sold to Gerry Goldsmith, a resident of Bellerose, New York. His new car, which carried a sticker price of $7,343.50, was appropriately equipped for driving in New York City, with options such as a Blaupunkt radio, front and rear bumper guards, side-view mirror, three-point safety belts, and a dealer-installed Mark V air-conditioning system.
According to Mrs. Goldsmith, their young son had begged her husband to purchase the 911 S, and it came to be considered a member of their family. Remarkably, the car remained in their care for 48 years, during which time it was driven approximately 76,000 miles and always meticulously maintained. Finally, in 2015, the consignor, a New York-based collector with a passion for unrestored cars, was able to purchase the Porsche from its original owners.
In consignor’s care, the car has enjoyed minimal use and presents today in superb, unrestored condition. Not only does this car still retain its distinctive as-delivered features, the consignor reports that it wears most of its factory-applied Polo Red paint finish and still has its original KONI shock absorbers. Consistent with its exceptional condition, this car is accompanied by its original sales invoice and 911 S brochure from Porsche Cars of Manhattan Inc., as well as the tool kit, owner’s manual, service book, and Blaupunkt radio pamphlets.
This extraordinary first-year 911 S, with its fascinating history, desirable options, and two-owner provenance, is an exciting find that is sure to attract interest from Porsche enthusiasts the world over.

Auction Description:
* Superb restoration by Tim Scott
* Matching numbers and original 'Special Order' livery.
* Superb, marque-expert restored example of the desirable SWB 911S
* Matching numbers and presented in original factory 'Special Order' color scheme
* Class Winner at the Boca Raton Concours d'Elegance
* Extraordinary example of the classic long-hood 911S
The striking 911S offered here was completed on July 10th, 1969 at the Zuffenhausen Porsche factory. The new sports car was attractively finished in the special-order 'Metallic Dark Red' color over a black leatherette interior and was fitted with the sporting 'dog-leg' 5-speed manual transaxle. The top-of-the-line Sport model was optioned with tinted windows all around, antenna, and the rimes were shod with Michelin tires.
This beautiful example of Porsche's iconic short wheelbase 911S was purchased in 2007 in California by Mr. Martin Jackier of Longmont, Colorado. Soon after, he entrusted Rallye Coachworks of Englewood, Colorado to perform a comprehensive, bare metal repaint of the aging Porsche in the as-delivered 'Metallic Dark Red' exterior color. Reassembly of the 911S started in 2010, but shortly after, Mr. Jackier would decide to sell the car. The penultimate owner - a 30-plus year Porsche aficionado with many PCA Best in Show Awards to his name - purchased the car, as he recognized the desirable matching numbers, 911S model's potential and collectability. After his purchase, he consulted with some of Colorado's most experienced Porsche experts to complete the restoration in factory-correct, as-delivered fashion. Mr. Jim McMillan of Carquip in Boulder, Colorado was entrusted to rebuild the original matching-numbers 2.0-liter engine and 5-speed transaxle, and Mr. Dave Brown - also a Boulder, Colorado based specialist - retrimmed the cabin using only factory-correct materials and colors. Harvey Weidman's Wheels, a top name in Porsche roadwheel restoration, restored the iconic Fuchs alloy wheels, while the well-known instrument specialists at North Hollywood Speedometer refurbished all the instruments and gauges. Following the thorough and correct restoration of all the sub-assemblies, final assembly and sorting was handled by the Porsche experts at Storz Garage and Pat Moyle. The comprehensive and thorough restoration was completed in 2013. Offered from a prominent, Naples, Florida based Porsche collection, this spectacular 911S remains in excellent condition. Less than 600 miles has been recorded since the restoration was completed, and the car has remained in climate-controlled environments. A First in Class Award was given the stunning Porsche at the 2014 Boca Raton Concours d'Elegance, and surely more awards are due if a new owner is interested in showing the car competitively.
The 911S family of cars, from the original 2-liter version through to the 2.4 variant of 1973, represent some of the finest driving - genuine - sports cars of their day. For those who have thought about owning one of the best restored examples, this splendid, matching numbers and factory correct machine deserves serious consideration. Offered with the Porsche-issued Certificate of Authenticity, owner's manual, tool kit and jack, this striking 911S 2.0 Coupe is ready for spirited drives on challenging roads and participation in PCA events.

That VIN in the Bonhams ad is not correct for a 1969 911S...they apparently added a superfluous 9 at the beginning.

1971 Porsche 911S Coupe #'s Matching. Complete nut & bolt restoration completed by a Porsche dealer, Porsche of Bend, OR, with about $320,000 invested in this rare factory A/C 911S.
*Driven less then 200 miles since completed
*Numbers matching, COA, Books and Records, Jack and Original Tool Kit
*Correct factory color combination
*Factory Options include: US Equipment, Blaupunkt Radio Frankfurt, Air Conditioner, Tinted Glass All Around, Michelin Tires
*Included in sale are numerous photos (from bare metal to finish) and receipts documenting this amazing restoration
This 1971 Porsche 911s 2.2 shown here is finished in Silver Metallic with Black Leatherette interior. We started with a very solid car that still retains its factory floors, original paint dash and gauges (yes they are that good). Finding a factory A/C car is tough and finding a real solid one is almost impossible. Unique to the 1971 model 911s is the use of Sport seats and an aluminum rear deck lid as standard equipment which as you can see are still retained in this car. After body and paint were completed by award winning Altissimo restoration in American Canyon, CA the car was then transported to Kendall Porsche of Bend Oregon and their state of the art facility for completion. Being focused on restoring it to the highest level, Jeff Gamroth of Rothsport Racing rebuilt the engine and transmission and then dyno'd upon completion. Interior was done by Autobahn International. The car resides in Scottsdale AZ so upgraded the A/C to Kuehl air components while still using the factory in dash controller. Once completed the car had Expel film applied to the complete front and partial rear areas. Please feel free to ask questions and inspect the car in person. We are open to trades.

Brief History of Chassis Number: 11850087
The original Italian car registration book shows this European-delivery example was supplied new as a Left Hand Drive model on the 22.June.1968 to its first owner who lived on the Mediterranean island of Sicily.
Coincidentally the name Targa was selected as a tribute to the Targa Florio, an Italian race which took place on the tight, winding roads of Sicily!
Unfortunately very little information was recorded on the Certificate of Authenticity, in fact only the chassis and engine number were documented.

Clear as day it was a Behr A/C equipped car.
They left the front A/C condenser fan in place and you can make out the blocked off duct hole and see the A/C wire harness under the dash. Excellent pic of the front condenser boxed shroud in the front trunk floor that only came on fac A/C equipped cars.
A novice mistake in my opinion; they should have left the A/C on the car. Now it's a hermaphrodite.
BTW: For those who think Porsche (or their vendors) could do no wrong back in the day... The fastening method for the relocated washer fluid bottle is one of the hinkiest of all time. Most of the fac air cars have the cardboard torn from the hook of the rubber strap.
As if Fritz MacGyver thought of it at quitting time and no one ever questioned it.

Not like a "63" Black Plate? ;)
-
A few years back California expanded the Year of Manufacture license plate program to include the black plates (1963–69). Previously, only the Black on Yellow plates (1956–62) and earlier were eligible. There was great fanfare, and some resistance from people who though their original black plate cars would be devalued.
However, California now allows yellow on blue plates in the Year of Manufacture license plate program. This change got no publicity; I just happened upon an updated application form. It looks like this is only good for the 6 digit passenger car plates (1970-79) although California issued 7 digit yellow on blue plates until 1986.
Note that the black on yellow and yellow on black plates had three letters followed by three numerals while the yellow on blue plates had three numerals followed by three letters. You can get yellow on black vanity plates from the California DMV if you stand in line for several hours but they won't issue three letters followed by three numerals.
Whatever's going on with the 1973 2.4L 911S Coupe at Canepa, it's not "legal." If it's an original blue plate car the rear plate needs to have a sticker for the year the plate expires, i.e. 2019 or 2020.
If it's a Year of Manufacture plate, the rear plate needs to have:
- A sticker matching the Year of Manufacture of the car, i.e. 1973, and
- Current year of registration and month of registration stickers, typically on little aluminum ears produced in a California prison.
I have a feeling they just put the 886 BDA blue plate on the car for the photos.
-
A BDA plate should be way early for a 73. The original plates (which I have) registered to my 70 are BMJ

Yep, borderline 1969 plates. My Dad's '69 E had black/yellow plates that started with Z.

Good morning,
I'd like to share with you our last car for sale, a Porsche 911 S 2000 SWB MY67, sold new in California. Here you can find few photos and information, while on our website www.gulfblue.it there are all the photos. The asking price is: 260.000 Euro
The pioneer of all the Porsche 911 S, in the first year of production: This awesome sample in Light Ivory over red full leather interior was produced the 31st January 1967, equipped with side view mirror, Webasto auxiliary heater and, as mentioned, full leather interior. This 911 has been sold the 10th March of the same year to its first owner, Mt. Fred Hug, living in Beverly Hills.
Since then, it seems that the car had just three owners in the USA before the purchase of the current owner, who sent the car to Italy for a professional restoration by Carrozzeria Serattini, here in Bologna.
The car still has its original service book and many invoices of the works done during the last years. When it arrived in Italy, it was mainly complete and preserved but it needed important works on the body (because of the corrosion). After being completely dismounted, we have changed the body panels and repainted with correct colors and materials. The same for the engine, gearbox and mechanical, which has been fully overhauled and restored. Keeping the original models for the interior Tappezzeria Ferraresi refurbished it in full leather: the owner just decided to put Recaro sport seats instead of the normal ones.
Every special part of the 67 S model has been restored with care: as, for example, 4,5 Fuchs wheels mounted on Pirelli Cinturato tyres, the specific dashboard with instruments, outside profiles, lights, brake calipers, carburetors...Event he Webasto heater has been overhauled and completely restored. Engine and gearbox are brand new: the car ran just for few miles after this recent restoration.
The car will be delivered with all its documents (including the Kardex and the Certificate of Authenticity), the photos of the restoration, double keys, toolbag, jack, manuals and pied-de-poule luggages.
The car has American title and could be seen by appointment in Bologna.

- Exceptionally Rare Short-Wheelbase 911 Variant
- Purchased New in Canada by Charles Elliott Trudeau
- High-Quality Restoration of a Low-Mileage Car
- Original Burgundy Red Exterior with Brown Leatherette Interior
- Matching-Numbers Example per Porsche Certificate of Authenticity
One of 720 Porsche 911 2.0 L coupes built in Zuffenhausen for the non-US market in 1968, this car was delivered to Auto Hamer Porsche of Montreal on May 7, and was soon after transported to Charles Elliott Trudeau, a 46-year-old Harvard-trained architect and younger brother of Pierre Trudeau, then the Canadian prime minister. This 911 L wore a rare color combination: Burgundy Red over brown leatherette with corduroy inserts. The rear deck lid featured a Porsche badge, added by Charles Trudeau early in his ownership. Mr. Trudeau also opted for a Sportomatic, the state-of-the-art, clutch-free transmission developed by Porsche in 1967.
With vented chrome wheels and the same front brake calipers as a top-of-the-line 911 S, Mr. Trudeau’s 911 L was ideally suited for Saint-Sauveur, Quebec, the scenic village where the architect lived until 1994. Shortly before his passing in July of that year, Mr. Trudeau transferred the 911 L to his neighbors, Annie Jenoure and Ross MacDonald. They kept the Porsche garaged in Saint-Sauveur until 2015, when it was acquired by the current consignors.
A three-year restoration followed, with Montreal-based experts Richard and Nick Grenon devoting 3,000 hours to the process. Factory-trained technician Arnold Faas rebuilt the flat-six engine. Restoration photographs, the original maintenance record book, and a Certificate of Authenticity are included. Offering classic short-wheelbase design and a distinguished Canadian pedigree, this Porsche 911 L represents a rare opportunity.

Auction Description:
* Matching numbers example
* European delivery
* Restored to original specification
* Attractive color combination
* Many desirable options
Completed on October 9, 1967 and delivered new to an Ernst Schuler of Siegen, Germany, this very desirable 911S was clearly built for a driving enthusiast who didn't mind attracting attention. According to its accompanying Certificate of Originality, it left the factory painted in vivid Blutorang (Tangerine) with a black leather interior. Herr Schuler had the factory install a pair of optional Sport Seats, a pair of matching headrests, a limited-slip differential, tinted glass all around, a heated rear window, a rear-window wiper, a Webasto auxiliary gasoline heater, and Dunlop tires. Standard equipment included a leather-wrapped steering wheel, Koni shocks and the handsome and now iconic five-spoke Fuchs aluminum alloy wheels. Schuler didn't order a radio; why bother, when the high-revving six provided so much aural entertainment?
It is unknown when this example arrived in America, but at some point a subsequent owner decided to respray the body Light Ivory and change the interior to beige. The original metric speedometer and odometer head was replaced with a standard US-spec instrument that currently indicates just over 24,000 miles. The previous original total mileage is unknown. In this form the car was acquired by Road Scholars in Raleigh, North Carolina, which offered it for sale in 2017. It was fully numbers-matching, and Road Scholars described it as potentially a great basis for a full restoration.
It was soon sold to the owners of European Performance in Raleigh, whose owners embarked on a comprehensive reconstruction to factory-original specification. The shell was taken down to bare-metal and placed on a rotisserie to give access to any potential underbody repair. The body was resprayed in its correct original color, and a new leather interior was sourced from Autobahn in California. The suspension was fully rebuilt with new Koni shocks, new tire rod ends, and new bushings. A new master cylinder was installed, along with new brake lines. The engine, both Weber carburetors, and transmission were properly rebuilt, and a new clutch assembly and exhaust system installed. A new tinted windshield was required, but all the other glass is original. The exterior gold emblems and lettering were replaced with new. Exterior chrome parts were re-plated as necessary, and the stainless rocker trim replaced. The original Fuchs alloy wheels were refinished by Harvey Weidman and fitted with new tires.
This spotless 1968 911S coupe is supplied with a correct Fuchs spare wheel, a jack, tool kit, and a folio of restoration invoices. This is an outstanding example of Porsche's determination to build the world's best driver's car, and is sure to please the most discriminating enthusiast.

The example offered here was delivered new on 7 November 1968 to Porsche Dealership Hahn Sportwagen of Stuttgart finished in stunning Blood Orange. The first owner was a Mr Deleplace from Paris, France, who owned a Bosch centre in Paris that specialized in mechanical fuel injection. He enjoyed the car for the following three decades, until 1999, when he sold it to a Mr Van de Kerckove who then went on to sell it to the current owner in 2004.
In late 2018, it was serviced at an authorized Porsche dealership in Lyon where it benefited from an oil and filter change, brake circuit overhaul including a new brake master cylinder and four new Michelin tires. Very rarely does the opportunity arise to acquire a largely original, early 911 like this one. Always been regularly maintained but never restored, it has only travelled a total of 129,500 km from new and is ready to be enjoyed by its fourth owner.

BaT Description:
This 1970 Porsche 911S is a US-market coupe finished in Sepia Brown over a Russet leatherette interior. The first owner traded in his 1969 Corvette towards the car at Hilltop Porsche/Audi of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and it passed through a number of owners in the 1970s and 1980s before being imported to Canada and acquired in 1992 by Roland Riegel, the proprietor of Riegel Tuning in Calgary. In 2005, Mr. Riegel sold the car to a private collector, who subsequently performed a refurbishment that included a glass-out repaint, rebuilding the brakes and suspension, restoring the Fuchs wheels, and more. The mechanically-injected 2.2-liter flat-six is numbers matching and paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle. Factory options include Comfort Equipment, a heated rear window, and a rear window wiper. Service records and a maintenance log dating back to new are included with the sale and show that a Ziebart rust preventative treatment was performed in 1979. Now showing 79k miles, this 911S is offered by the selling dealer with the factory tools, original window sticker, glove compartment books, records, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a British Columbia registration.
A glass-out repaint in the factory Sepia Brown (7474) was performed in 2005 and encompassed the jambs and underside of the lids. Closeups of the gold badges, panel fit, and trim have been provided in the gallery. The quarter window glass, door windows, and heated rear windshield show Sekurit etchings. Note the optional rear wiper. The S model received a lighter aluminum engine cover and license plate panel from the factory. Upgrades include a set of H4 headlights and a chrome rear bumper bar. Reconditioned and anodized 15” deep six Fuchs wheels wear a set of painted-crest center caps and come wrapped in Pirelli P6000 radials. Stopping power is provided by vented front and rear disc brakes, with ATE ’S’ aluminum front calipers up front. Koni shocks are fitted at each corner.
The Russet interior retains a leather-wrapped 4-spoke steering wheel, Blaupunkt AM/FM radio, factory-style door pockets, and leatherette seats. Coco mats have been added to each footwell. Additional photos of the rear seat, headliner, and parcel shelf are provided in the gallery. Factory silver-dot VDO instrumentation includes a tachometer showing the 7,200-rpm redline, along with a 150-mph speedometer and an odometer indicating 79k miles. A handwritten log documenting the mileage and maintenance in the 1980s and 1990s accompanies the sale.
The mechanically fuel-injected 2.2-liter flat-six was rated for 180 horsepower at 6,500 rpm in S trim and transmits power through a 5-speed 901 transaxle. A service performed just prior to the auction included an oil and filter change, as well as a general mechanical inspection. Compression and leakdown tests were performed at this time, revealing between 162-177 psi and 7-9% leakdown in cylinders 1 through 6. A few oil leaks are noted. Case stamping #6300992 matches both the Porsche CoA and original warranty card in the maintenance book. Stainless steel heat exchangers from SSI are tied into a Dansk muffler. Photos highlighting the floors, as well as the reconditioned brake and suspension systems, are provided in the gallery. The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity shows a build date of February 1, 1970 and lists the original configuration and options. Over 250 records and receipts dating back to new can be seen in the gallery. A reconditioned Fuchs spare tire resides in the front compartment along with a factory tool roll and jack. The included history folder contains the original window sticker, which is shown above, as well the owner’s manual, maintenance booklet, service records dating back new, and an older third-party appraisal. Also included is the receipt from the Ziebart rust preventative treatment, a few in-period photos of the car, and the aforementioned mileage log.

This excellent, matching numbers, lefthand drive, 1972 Porsche 911S coupé with a side oil tank 'Oel Klapper', was supplied new to Italy where it remained until being purchased by the current vendor from a deceased estate in 2015. In 2018 the car was sent to Dal Jones Automotive Ltd, a Porsche specialist based in Essex, where the engine received a full rebuild. Finished in Albert Blue with tan leather interior, this lovely Porsche 911S coupé is supplied with a V5C registration document, a certificate of authenticity and copies of the Italian registration documents. The 911S coupé is not only a proper driver's car but with the values of 911's, particularly the S, on the rise, this striking example can also be regarded as an extremely sound investment.

1966, 911 S SWB, race car, prepared according to GTS 1970 specs, matching numbers
Good morning, I'd like to send you some photos and information about this 1966 (MY67) 911S swb that we have for sale, prepared according to GTS 1970 specs, matching numbers, one of the few S models sold new in Italy.
This Porsche is one of the very first samples of 911 S produced, precisely the 22nd November 1966 and delivered in Ravenna (Italy) to its first owner at the beginning of 1967. The car was ordered in Polo red with black leatherette and black/white hounds tooth cloth; as option the car had the auxiliary Webasto heater and the seat belts.
After different owners, in the late 80’s the car was used for historic racings in Italy as 911 ST, before being purchased by the current owner who started a total restoration of this rare "Short Wheel Base", according to FIA G1 GTS (Group 4) 1970 specs.
The car still has the original doors and front lid (with the last three digits of the VIN number stamped), original green instruments, glasses and many body parts. The paint had been fully removed and the chassis was cataphoresis treated and repainted in its original colour; the rear flares were sightly enlarged to house 7” wheels, as permitted by the rules. Beside the original steel one, the car currently mounts a fiberglass front bonnet with the hole for the “endurance” fuel tank cap and a couple of Cibié additional headlamps.
Engine and gearbox, “matching numbers”, had been fully overhauled and prepared according to racing specs: the engine is the double spark plug version, double front radiator, polished ducts, balanced driveshaft, piston rods and pistons. The gearbox has a long final drive (“Nurburgring”, top speed 250 km/h) and limited slip differential. Twin circuit braking system. Suspension setup developed on Dunlop racing tyres. The car just raced the opening event of Masters Historic Racing at Imola in 2018.
Bolted roll-cage with side protections, integrated extinguishing fire system and racing fuel tank complete the compulsory FIA equipment.
Together with the car there is the steel front lid and a couple of sport seats Recaro-style finished in black/white hound’s tooth.
The car has italian title and license plates; the FIA HTP expires in 2028.
This is the most advanced evolution of a SWB 911 S with 2 liters carbs engine: it could race on hillclimbs, rallies and track races including some of the most prestigious events, Masters Historic Racing, Peter Auto, Le Mans Classic, Tour Auto, Nurburgring Classic or Modena 100 ore. This 911 S could be easily converted to a street legal car or it could be even used for regularity races.
It has Italian title and could be seen by appointment in Brescia. Further information on www.gulfblue.it. The asking price is 190.000 Euro

Further information on
www.gulfblue.it. The asking price is 190.000 Euro
If you have any question, please write me, thanks!

Dealer Description:
Incredibly clean and very rare 1970 911S in Tangerine over Black Leatherette interior. This 911S was sold new on June 6, 1971 at Jim Kelley Porsche in Buffalo, New York to a collector that preserved the car for roughly 4 years before selling it to the second owner that kept the car for the next 43 years. The car shows less than 40,000 original miles on the odometer and carries its original numbers matching engine. Original options from the factory included US Equipment, Antenna, Loud Speakers and Noise Suppression, Comfort Equipment, and Pirelli Tires. Paint meter readings indicate the 911 was repainted at one time in the original Tangerine factory color. Our Factory Trained Porsche Classic Technicians just completed our very comprehensive inspection process to ensure the next owner is able to enjoy and appreciate the 911S with confidence. During the inspection we decided to rebuild the fuel injection pump, repair minnow oil seeps, replace synchronizers in the transmission, install new sway bar bushings, and replace necessary bulbs. A cylinder leak test was carried out during the inspection process as well with the following readings: Cylinder #1 - 4% Cylinder #2 - 2% Cylinder #3 - 4% Cylinder #4 - 10%* Cylinder #5 - 4% Cylinder #6 - 4% *Note the car had not been driven before the CLT was carried out so readings could change after driving. The car comes with original owners manual, tool kit, service booklets, touchup paint, Certificate of Authenticity, and spare tire. This rare 1970 911S is an incredible opportunity to own a special piece of Porsche history.

BERLUTI | PORSCHE, BAG AND DRIVING SHOES [3 ITEMS]
This Porsche Targa 911 is steeped Berluti savoir-faire, with the Maison expertise expressed in an extensive customisation that still respects the original design. Upholstery, sheathing and patina coordinate beautifully in this one-of-a-kind vehicle; it also comes with special accessories, including a pair of driving shoes and a weekend bag, all essentials for any car enthusiast. The car is being sold with a complimentary bag and pair of shoes.
PORSCHE TARGA 2.4S 1973 VERSION
• 2.4S engine: Air-cooled flat six-cylinder. 2.4 litre mechanical Fuel injection. 190hp.
• Amongst the most desirable of the early Porsche 911s must certainly be the 1973 911 S 2.4-litre, the final production year of the elegant long-bonnet/narrow bumper F-series, along with the ’73-only Carrera RS.
• Despite the increased displacement of the 2.7-litre RS, this 2.4-litre S shares many of the same features of the 2.7, such as the new and stronger 915 gearbox, light aluminium brake callipers, a front-mounted oil cooler, and the optional 85-litre plastic fuel tank that was only found in the RS.
• Of course, the quality and performance of the 2.4 S in relation to price of the 2.7 RS makes this an unbeatable opportunity.
• The 1973 911 saw the old Type 901 “dog-leg” transmission replaced by the stronger Type 915, which utilized a standard “H” shift pattern. Contemporary road tests demonstrated that the new 911 S was capable of a 0–60 sprint in just 7.8 seconds. It could cover a standing quarter mile in 16.3 seconds and top out at 142 miles an hour. This was dazzling performance for an otherwise very tractable street car of that period. Befitting its high-performance capability, the ’73 S was equipped with a special front valance to help control airflow beneath the chassis.
• The first fully customized car created by Berluti. All work performed in France with the combined savoir-faire of Berluti’s colourists and an expert upholsterer.
Noteworthy interior customization details:
• Leather-trimmed dashboard with open seam and double top-stitching
• Bouclé wool floor mats with English-style border
• Venezia patinated leather driver heel pad
• Hand-stitched leather-sheathed gear shift knob
• Targa roof in alpaca with leather headliner with fold seams
• Front boot interior and engine compartment trim in Venezia leather
• “Berluti Paris” signature on glove compartment door. “B” logo on steering wheel and key fob.

BaT Description:
This 1972 Porsche 911S remained with its original owner until being purchased from an estate sale for the current owner’s collection in 2015. Finished in Silver Metallic over black leather, the car is powered by a fuel-injected 2.4L flat-six paired with a Type 915 5-speed manual transaxle. Service in the last two years has included an interior refurbishment, a new fuel pump, suspension and brake work, a valve adjustment, and refreshing the air conditioning system. This 911S is part of the 25-vehicle, single-owner collection currently featured on BaT. It is now offered at no reserve in New Jersey with service records from the last four years, an owner’s manual, a tool kit, and a clean Maryland title.
The body is finished in Metallic Silver (936) and received a repaint in 2016. The rear deck lid grille, wiper arms, and rear badges were media blasted and powder coated in semi-gloss black in 2017, and a new “2.4” badge was also added. The windshield, rear window, and quarter window seals were replaced in 2017. Note the 1972-only oil filler door on the passenger-side rear fender. Factory 15″ Fuchs alloys are mounted with Pirelli P6000 tires. Suspension work in October 2017 included installing new Bilstein front struts and rear shocks, and replacing the sway bar mount and linkage bushings. The front brake calipers were also rebuilt at that time, and new brake hoses were installed. An alignment was completed in June 2018.
The interior was refreshed in 2017 by Bayside Inc. of Farmingdale, New Jersey. Work included fitting the front seats with new foam and reupholstering them with new black leather. The rear seats, door panels, and side panels were also recovered in black leather, and new charcoal carpets were installed. The dash and door armrests were repaired and dyed blue, and a new ivory vinyl headliner was fitted. Seat hardware was cleaned and lubricated. The 5-digit odometer shows approximately 62k miles, less than 1,000 of which have been added while the car has been in the current owner’s collection. The air conditioning system was overhauled in 2017 with a new compressor, expansion valve, receiver drier, hoses, and temperature switch.
The 2.4-liter flat-six features mechanical fuel injection and produced 190 horsepower at 6,500 rpm when new. Work completed in June 2018 at Vantage Motors in Stamford, Connecticut included adjusting the valves and replacing the valve cover gaskets. A new fuel pump was installed in December 2017, and the points were replaced in October 2017. Engine number *6329145* is shown above, with the first three digits designating an S engine for 1972. Shifting is through a 915 5-speed manual transaxle, and number 7331596 is shown in the gallery below. The shifter assembly was rebuilt with new bushings in 2017. Corrosion is noted on some areas of the underside.

Dealer Description:
The short wheel base early 911S only had a short two-year production run of 1967 and 1968. Most if not all collectors are chasing the 1967 911S because of its first year of production and also 1967 was the only year a short wheel base 911S was brought into the US marketplace. In 1968, US emissions prevented the 911S from coming into the country and we received the 1968 911L instead. The 911L is a very special car and a club racing favorite, but it is not a 911S. In the US the 68 911S is less common and rarer than the 1967 version. This particular 911S is special because it was brought to Southern California less than 2 years after it was sold new in Germany. So, we have that special combination of a non US 1968 911S that spent its life in Southern California and Texas instead of the harsh weather conditions of Europe. Toss in the original German pflegepass booklet with stamps from 1969 and the additional US Porsche service booklets with stamps dating back to 1970 at Dick Barbour Porsche/Audi in San Diego, CA and you can see why this vehicle is a great example and an exceptional value compared to the current pricing trends with the 1967 911S.

Hmm. So what the dealer is saying is: The 1964,65,66 cars had a different wheelbase. Uhh, I don’t think so. Typical uneducated hyperbole. Please do your homework lest you sound like an ass.
-
The statement is accurate. The 67 & 68 were the only 911Ss that were short wheelbase.
-
Road Scholars does know these cars. They were clearly referring to the 911S. Short-wheelbase 911S cars were only built for two years.
That said, they're almost trying to manufacture rarity by scouring for the shortest production run they can attribute.
They're also glossing over the fact that '68s were transitioning from short-wheelbase to long-wheelbase styling cues and they lack some of the 356 continuity (chrome bezels on green gauges and the flat door cards) that contribute to the short-wheelbase appeal.

A seemingly obligatory sales technique in almost every air cooled 911 ad I’ve read in the last 4 years.

Only if read improperly... 911S; not 911s. Please give one of the most revered Porsche sellers in the world a little credit.
However...
The umbilical cord is very disturbing:
-
Nice nuenelf. Another phrase to add to the lexicon of used car terms; "manufactured rarity". It aptly describes all the 356 speedster parts advertised that will fit any 356A. Or the 911S parts that will work on any T E or S. Great term.

This is a very good # 2 condition 1969 911 S non-sunroof, Coupe with 61,400 documented miles. It is in good running condition with all accessories and gauges working properly. The 2.0L mechanical fuel injected (MFI) engine is original to the car (#6390106), sings sweetly, and was inspected, machined, and freshly resealed in 2017 (and less than 500 miles ago). It’s original transmission (#7193296) was replaced at some point along the way with a period correct 901/13 replacement transmission (#7196521) which shifts smoothly.
The original factory color was Sand Beige (Porsche color code 6807), according to the service history file it was painted light yellow in 2000, and then color was changed again by the current owner to Gloss Black in 2006. The Gloss Black paint work is still in very good to excellent condition, since the car has been covered and garage stored since the paint work was done. The original black leather interior is in very good to excellent condition, however the front seats were replaced with excellent condition black leatherette units with period correct basket weave centers. There is some wear on the front carpet mats.
This car comes with a few spare parts, service history, the original owner’s manual, tool kit, and the Certificate Authenticity (COA) from Porsche.
Pre-purchase (PPI) inspections are welcome and encouraged. Car is located in Las Vegas, NV.

This car is selling again. Now on Bring A Trailer. NMNA.

This could really sting for the seller, if I understand correctly. $120k top bid, AFTER the $100k "repair" bill? Ouch indeed.

BaT Description:
This 1968 Porsche 911S coupe was completed on October 9, 1967 and purchased new by a Mr. Schuler of Siegen, Germany. Finished in Tangerine over black, the car was equipped from the factory with a limited-slip differential, Recaro sport seats, and a heated rear window with a wiper. Power is provided by the numbers-matching 2.0-liter flat-six, which is mated to the original five-speed manual transaxle. The selling dealer acquired the vehicle from Road Scholars of Durham, North Carolina in 2017, and a mechanical and cosmetic restoration was completed in January 2019. Work totaled over $107k and included rebuilds of the engine and transmission, as well as a bare-metal repaint, new leather upholstery, refinished Fuchs wheels, Koni shocks, and much more as outlined below. This SWB 911S is now offered for sale in North Carolina with restoration invoices, a Kardex, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clear Florida title.
A previous owner had the car refinished in Light Ivory, and it received a bare-metal repaint in the factory shade of Tangerine (6809) during the recent restoration. The resulting finish is pictured up close in the gallery below. Exterior equipment includes front fog lights, European headlamps, amber taillights, and an optional rear window wiper. A replacement windshield, new exterior badging, and new lower rocker trim were fitted during the restoration.
The 15” Fuchs wheels were refinished by Harvey Weidman and are mounted with fresh 195/65 Vredestein Quadtrac 5 tires. The brake lines have also been replaced, and a new master cylinder was installed. Factory sport seats were reupholstered in black leather, and the dash and 4-spoke steering wheel were recovered by Autobahn Interiors of San Diego, California. The car came factory-equipped with a heated rear window and Webasto gas heater, the latter of which is not hooked up but is pictured in the gallery. Over 24k miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer, though total mileage is unknown.
The 2.0L flat-six is equipped with dual Weber carburetors, and the Type 901/02 five-speed manual transaxle was optioned new with a limited-slip differential. The engine and transmission were rebuilt by the selling dealer, and a new clutch assembly and exhaust system were installed. Stamping *4080264* matches the certificate from Porsche, confirming the engine as original. The matching transaxle stamping, 4280254, can be seen in the gallery along with the karosserie tag in the door jamb. Suspension refurbishment included new Koni shocks, tie rod ends, and bushings. An additional photo of the underside is viewable in the gallery, as is a copy of the Kardex and invoices for the restoration work. The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity lists the factory colors, equipment, and powertrain numbers.

- An Italian market, left-hand drive example imported to the UK in 2002 with 50,976 kilometres indicated
- Finished in Sepia Brown with a black interior and optioned from new with Recaro sports seats
- Owned by fastidious enthusiasts since and subject to considerable attention
- Documented mechanical refresh by Autofarm in 2010 (£20,000).
- £6,000 more recently at Peter Chambers UK speedometer fitted in 2002 and only 16,700 warranted miles since
- One of the finest 2.4S available, well sorted and set up, in super condition and superbly detailed
The car on offer today is a left-hand drive 1972 2.4S finished in Sepia Brown with a black interior and fitted with Recaro Sports seats. It was originally supplied to Italy and following a number of years there, was purchased by a Dutch enthusiast who retained the car until 2002 and looked after it well judging from the number of invoices on file from a Porsche specialist. The 911 arrived in the UK in 2002 and was obviously in largely original condition as indicated in a pre-purchase inspection report completed by Andy Prill. The customer who commissioned the report purchased the car and commissioned marque specialists, Autostrasse, to carry out a major service and deal with any recommendations arising from the report.
In 2004, the car was offered for sale by well-known Porsche people, Gantspeed, and an email on file confirms the good original, accident-free condition of the car and mentions that 50,976km was on the original speedometer with a further 4,800 miles being covered on the UK mph speedo fitted when the car came to the UK.
Porsche enthusiast, Robert Barrie, purchased the car from Gantspeed and sent it to be serviced and checked prior to using it on a track day at Goodwood. He used the car minimally, the mileage rising to 9,700 and sold it in 2006. Its next custodian also used it lightly with the car serviced by Autofarm before he, in turn, sold it in 2010 to a gentleman with an extensive collection of special Porsches. As was his way, he sent it to Autofarm for a full inspection and subsequent overhaul and there are invoices on file amounting to in excess of £20,000 for this work. All areas requiring attention were addressed, the gearbox was rebuilt, the engine removed, checked over and detailed, as was the engine bay, the wheels were refurbished, and a myriad of other smaller jobs all extensively documented in a CD. More recently, the 911 has been looked after by Peter Chambers Automotive with invoices amounting to £6,000 in the file.
This remarkable Porsche has covered just 14,500 miles since 2001 and must be one of the finest 2.4S on the market. It's in really super condition with fantastic detail yet retains a really nice original feel. According to our vendor, it drives superbly and has clearly been sorted and well set-up offering all those wonderful 911 qualities that make these early cars so addictive.

Dealer Description:
This numbers-matching example was purchased out of longtime ownership/storage and has spent many years hidden away by CPR. This sublime 911S Targa has just completed a ground-up, rotisserie restoration by our marque experts to CPR Classic’s highest standards.
The car was stripped down to the bare metal tub with all paint and undercoating having been removed. It was then metal worked with lead, and the gaps were set to beautiful factory correct tolerances. From there, the car was sealed, epoxied and undercoated and then refinished in the factory correct Glasurit two-stage paint in silver, per the Certificate of Authenticity. It was then color sanded and buffed to original factory quality looks and condition.
Every nut and bolt during the restoration was replaced, restored, or refinished to like new condition. This full-scale restoration included all systems and components of the car, to include: engine, transmission, braking system, electrical systems, body repair and prep, exterior refinish, a complete brand new period correct red leather interior by Autobahn Interiors, freshly refinished Fuchs wheels by Al Reed Polishing and brand new Porsche factory approved Pirelli CN36 tires.
This 911S Targa is just about as close as you can get today to walking into a Porsche dealer's showroom in 1972 and buying a fresh-off-the-factory-floor, new 911. The car comes with a full CPR Classic Restoration warranty and has been expertly sorted. This is a rare opportunity to take immediate delivery of a full CPR restoration without having to wait.

BaT Description:
his 1973 Porsche 911S Targa is a European-market example that reportedly remained with its original owner until 2001. Power is provided by the original 2.4-liter flat-six paired with a five-speed manual transaxle, and the car is finished in Gemini Blue over a black interior with houndstooth seat inserts. It was refurbished between 2007 and 2008 and is equipped with refinished Fuchs wheels, a rebuilt shifter, and Coco Mats. This 911S Targa was recently acquired by the selling dealer and is now offered in Fresno, California with service records, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean New Mexico title. The body was stripped to bare metal and repainted in its original color of Gemini Blue Metallic (86) by Craftsmen Autobody of Costa Mesa, California in 2007. New seals were installed at that time, and the car is equipped with a polished targa bar and a black removable targa panel. The front hood was repaired and repainted in 2014, and blending was performed on the front fenders. The 15″ Fuchs alloy wheels were refinished in 2008 and are mounted with 195/65 Pirelli P6000 tires. Suspension work performed in 2008 included painting the rear swing arms, strut towers, sway bar, and more.
The black leatherette interior features houndstooth inserts and factory headrests. New upholstery was fitted in 2007 along with a set of Coco Mats. Instrumentation includes a 250-km/h speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, a clock, and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, oil level, and oil temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 77k kilometers (~48k miles), and total mileage is unknown.
The 2.4-liter flat-six was rebuilt in 2010 with new timing chain tensioners, chain rails, oil lines, and spark plugs. Shifting is through a 915 five-speed manual transaxle. The shifter was rebuilt in 2010, and a new clutch cable was installed at that time. Stamping *6330726* is shown above and matches the number listed on the CoA, confirming the engine as original. The matching transaxle stamping is (7333065).

According to its factory Kardex, chassis no. 308081S was completed 4 April 1967, leaving the factory-painted Silbermetall (96024) over Black Leatherette with charcoal carpets. This car was ordered with numerous options, including a sunroof, tinted Catacolor glass all around, a Webasto gas heater, an outside thermometer with Celsius dashboard readout, a rear screen wiper, a Blaupunkt Frankfurt multi-band radio package that included a speaker and antenna, Dunlop tyres, and additional shoulder safety belts. Upon completion, it was shipped to Lisbon and thence to Luanda, Angola, and its first registered owner, Sr. Jose M. Ferriero Badello.
The car has been resprayed Black, which is nicely set off by its 4.5-inch Fuchs alloy wheels. It is fitted with correct fog lamps. While the black leatherette interior and basket-weave dash trim show some wear commensurate with their age, this is a very usable early 911 S ready to be enjoyed.

Auction Description:
- Unquestionably among the finest, most original 1967 911 S coupes
- Matching numbers throughout; extensively optioned
- Low-mileage example; just three owners from new
- Ordered directly through the factory and prepared for Tourist Delivery
- Presented with an extensive documentation accounting for its entire history from day one
- Includes copy of Kardex and Certificate of Authenticity
Offered from the Taj Ma Garaj is an incredibly original 1967 911 S with a fascinating and exceedingly well-documented history that includes virtually every piece of paperwork associated with its purchase, delivery, and subsequent use. This magnificent example was ordered new from the factory by Mr. Robert Rice Graham, an automotive shop foreman employed by the Arabian-American Oil Company (ARAMCO), in Dharan, Saudi Arabia.
Mr. Graham’s interest in Porsche ownership dates to at least 1961, based on a typewritten letter sent to Klaus von Marnitz at Raffay & Cie. GmbH in Hamburg, Germany, the largest Porsche dealer in northern Germany, acknowledging receipt of sales literature for the new 1962 model 356. He enclosed a $500 deposit on a new U.S.-specification 356 B Super coupe, red with white leather, and listed specific options desired, which were many. He emphasized that the car had to be delivered to the U.S. by the first week of 1962. He later decided to pick the car up at the factory.
In October 1963, Mr. Graham learned of the soon-to-be-introduced six-cylinder Type 901 and wrote to Porsche asking for detailed information on availability. H. C. Ernst replied on 7 November, informing Graham that production of the 901 would not begin until summer of 1964, with the first deliveries scheduled for the end of the year. Graham then asked if he could possibly order a car and pick it up at the factory when he was on vacation in the fall. Herr Ernst replied that because there was already a growing list of orders and the factory was only producing one or two cars per day, a fall delivery was not possible. He intimated that a car might be available at the end of the year.
Apparently, that was agreeable to Mr. Graham, and on 19 January 1966, Graham wrote back asking to order a new car, mentioning his previous purchase and asking to have the car ready for factory delivery in October. Porsche then mailed to him a detailed price list of optional equipment and accessories that would be available. Porsche’s sales office explained to Graham that the customary process was for a buyer to work through a franchised dealer, but in his case an exception would be made, and he could buy directly from the factory. Graham was sent an order form for Tourist Delivery, and a deposit was requested.
Mr. Graham sat down with a sharpened pencil and again prepared a detailed list of specifications, many replicating the way his 356 B had been equipped. On 16 February he wrote back that he wanted a car in Silver Metallic, but asked for a factory color chart. The interior was to be full black leather, including headrests. He asked for full Catacolor tinted glass, a raised steering wheel hub (found to be unavailable), a rear window wiper, two outside mirrors, an outside thermometer, chrome hubcaps with crests, a driver’s sun visor with mirror, seat belts, floor mats, a Becker “Mexico” AM/FM/SW radio with speakers and antenna, bumper guards with rubber cushions, Koni adjustable shocks, three black-and-red canvas suitcases, a similar canvas bag, an elastic luggage hold-down for the trunk, and finally, a roof-mounted luggage rack and leather straps. He also ordered a factory service manual and asked if such items as wire screen headlamp covers and a larger auxiliary oil cooler might be available to help deal with desert heat.
On 1 March, a cursory note arrived from the factory asking if Graham had decided on a color. He cabled back that he still had not received a color chart. He soon received a letter with an attached paint sample explaining that Silbermetall (6206) was the only hue that met Graham’s needs, that stone guards were not offered, and that the stock oil radiator would be adequate for Middle Eastern climes. Graham confirmed the order, telling Porsche that he planned to drive the car to Switzerland—for which he’d need a refundable Carnet (travel pass) from the German Automobile Club—then load it on a freighter at Genoa, and then to Beirut and on to Kuwait.
On 22 July, Porsche informed Mr. Graham that he should choose either a standard 911 or the new 1967 911 S, which included as standard equipment many of the options he had picked. A week later, Graham replied that he’d take the 911 S, and submitted a new list of desired options, including a roof-top rack to accommodate skis, a travel kit, and a Becker “Grand Prix” radio. The total price with registration and export charge was $7,143, which included some $1,300 in optional equipment. He’d already sent a deposit, so he brought along a certified check for the balance due, $6,658. In September Graham ordered an air-conditioning unit from Delair at a cost of $375, to be shipped to Mr. Graham in Dharan. That unit was either never installed or subsequently removed from the car.
Porsche cabled Graham to advise that the car would be ready for pickup on 18 October. The week before, Automotive News published a story about the exciting new 911 S; the clipping found its way into Graham’s document file. Mr. Graham duly picked up his car in Stuttgart and also loaded up at the company gift shop, purchasing no fewer than 54 Porsche-related items ranging from books and models to whiskey glasses and desk pads. Departure from Genoa was booked for 5 November 1966 aboard the SS Esperia. En route to Italy, Mr. Graham discovered some electrical problems with his new 911 that required replacement of the wiring harness between the dashboard and fuse panel; new parts were dispatched to him from the factory, and repairs were made in Italy.
In September 1969 Mr. Graham made arrangements to have his Porsche air-shipped to Frankfurt, transferred to Bremerhaven, Germany, and then transported by the SS Minden to Port Elizabeth, New Jersey, where it would be picked up by his wife, Sophia. The car arrived stateside and passed through U.S. Customs on 7 November.
Mr. Graham added very few miles after bringing the car to his home in Escondido, California, maintaining it properly and dutifully keeping a log of his mileage and service until it was sold to Mr. Alfred Hu of Alhambra on 12 November 1998. Mr. Hu entrusted the care of the 911 S to marque experts at Andial, then located in Orange County. He carried out some minor service and refreshed some of the trim items prior to selling the car to John Dixon at Taj Ma Garaj, who spent more time addressing small details that make this such a fine example. Aside from the bumpers that are known to have been repainted, the rest of the car’s exterior color appears consistent. Recently metered, it is believed that the Porsche is still wearing most if not all of its original factory paintwork.
Now displaying a documented 28,980 miles, this may well be the best-documented and most original 1967 Porsche 911 S coupe extant. The amount of original paperwork is stunning: two boxes of records from the original owner, and three additional file folders preserving this car’s life over the past 52 years. It is an extraordinary and historic time capsule that captures how Porsche’s Tourist Delivery system operated throughout the 1960s. This exceptional 911 S presents an extraordinary opportunity for the true marque enthusiast.

Auction Description:
- Thoroughly original; only 8,266 miles
- Original matching-numbers drivetrain
- Factory optioned with Rallye package and Sport Kit II
- Long-term ownership by Porsche racing champion Bruce Jennings
- Offered from its third owner of over 20 years
- Documented with a copy of its factory Kardex
Having recognized early on that entering in competition would help bolster retail sales, Porsche first created a small series of special lightweight cars called the 911 R. But its attention was really focused on selling cars that could be raced or rallied by its customers while adhering to the FIA’s GT Group 3 regulations. A big step in that direction was the creation of the optional “Rally package” that would allow upgrading the stock 160 hp 901/02 engine with 906 cams and con-rods, plus larger carburetors, if desired. Also listed were a competition clutch and sport exhaust, a partial roll bar in the cabin, competition seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, wider alloy wheels, a 100-liter gas tank, and a variety of gearing. In addition, two other optional tuning packages were made available, Sport Kit I and Sport Kit II. The latter supplied the purchaser with different jets and venturis for the Weber 40 mm triple-throat carburetors and was good for an additional 15 horsepower.
This wonderful 1967 911 S was originally delivered through Porsche of America in Teaneck, New Jersey, to Dr. John Sullivan of Syracuse, New York. According to its factory Kardex, it was ordered with the desirable Rally Package, Sport Kit II, a locking differential, and set of air horns, along with Dunlop tires. Allegedly too hot to handle, Dr. Sullivan didn’t keep the car long, selling this and another early 911 to Maryland-based Porsche racing driver Bruce Jennings, known as “King Carrera.” While Jennings drove the other car on a daily basis, he only competed in this 911 S once, in a 10-lap sprint at Bridgehampton. He otherwise put the car into storage, placing it on jack stands in his garage, where it remained virtually untouched for nearly three decades. A close friend of Jennings relates that he rotated the engine periodically to ensure lubrication. After Jennings’s passing in 1997, it was acquired directly by the current owner.
Careful examination reveals that the Silver Metallic adorning this stunning ’67 S is factory-original and unmolested in all respects. The odometer reading of just 8,266 miles appears to be original and correct. For a car that left the factory on 17 August 1967, that is quite astonishing, and it makes this first-year 911 S, equipped with factory Rally equipment and Sport Kit II, an ideal Porsche that any serious collector would rightfully covet.
Today the original black leatherette interior of this special 911 appears as new. The very unusual ventilated upholstery on the driver’s and passenger Recaro Sport seats is in perfect condition, and the leather-wrapped sports steering wheel is unmarked. There is provision for mounting a set of racing harnesses. The body panels and floor pans were never undercoated by the factory, as a weight-saving measure, and remain in excellent original condition. Under the front lid resides a correct 100-liter rally fuel tank. The Fuchs alloy wheels retain a set of period-correct 500/7.50×15-inch Goodyear Blue Streak tires.
Included with this exceptionally rare Porsche is a copy of its factory Kardex, Certificate of Authenticity, copy of the homologated Group 3 Rally components, along with its original tool kit, owner’s manuals, and maintenance record book. This very special high-performance lightweight 911 S is in impeccable original condition and boasts a wonderful and unblemished pedigree.

- Numbers-matching drivetrain
- Comprehensive nut-and-bolt restoration
- Documented history from new
- Porsche Certificate of Authenticity
Offered here is a fully restored example that is showing just 73,000 miles and spent a good portion of its life in storage. According to its Porsche-issued Certificate of Authenticity, chassis 308081S was completed June 9, 1967, delivered in Polo Red over Black Leatherette. Optional fog lamps and a Blaupunkt New York radio with speakers and antenna were included. It was originally sold by noted Porsche dealer Stoddard in Willoughby, Ohio. Its first owner kept the car for 28 years, accruing just a few thousand miles per year. The second long-term owner drove this 911 S only intermittently, as a growing family made it impractical for transportation. He also found it challenging to maintain, as the rural family lived some hundred miles from the nearest dealer. Over time the 911 had been repainted white and the original 4.5×15-inch Fuchs alloys had been replaced with wider steel wheels. In the 1990s, the Porsche was parked in a dry, heated barn, where it remained until 2015, when it was offered for sale in need of restoration.
Its new owner commissioned a bare-metal, nuts-and-bolts restoration by marque specialist Straat Automobile in Miami, Florida. The car was refinished in its original Polo Red and received a completely new interior and a comprehensive mechanical overhaul. A set of correct early Fuchs alloys were sourced and installed. This very collectible 911 S is an excellent example to enjoy again as a spirited driver or competitive concours entrant. It is supplied with spare, jack, and tools, a file of receipts, and restoration photographs.

BaT Description:
This 1973 Porsche 911S coupe is a US-spec example built in May 1973 and finished in Silver Metallic over black partial leather. Factory equipment includes Koni shocks, sport seats, an auxiliary oil cooler, an electric sunroof, tinted glass, and a manual radio antenna. The car was sold new through Kendon Porsche Audi of Wilmington, California. It reportedly had three documented owners with registrations in California, Texas, New Mexico, and Georgia prior to the selling dealer’s acquisition in late 2018 from the prior owner of nearly 35 years. Power comes from a numbers-matching 2.4-liter flat-six paired with the original five-speed manual transaxle. In spring 2019 the selling dealer performed a detailing and steam cleaning, mounted new Michelin tires, and completed mechanical servicing as detailed below. This 911S is now offered in Houston, Texas with a service file dating back to 1980, its window sticker, factory manuals, a Porsche Production Specifications certificate, and a clean North Carolina title.
This 911S received a repaint in its factory Silver Metallic years ago according to the seller. The glass retains Sekurit markings as shown in the photo gallery below, and factory badging is present front and rear. In 2019 the seller serviced the car with new front hood struts, torsion cover plates, and rear sway-bar brackets. In spring 2019 the 15″ Fuchs alloy wheels were mounted with four new 185/70-series Michelin XWX tires manufactured in April 2018. The seller has provided photos of 1973 date codes for each wheel including the trunk-mounted spare. A jack and tools are also contained in the front trunk.
This 911S was optioned with factory leather sport seats and an electric sunroof. A four-spoke steering wheel and a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio remain fitted. The five-digit odometer indicates approximately 37,400 miles, although true mileage is unknown as records date back to 1980.
The numbers-matching 2.4-liter flat-six received an oil change, oil sump plate, hot air tube, and replacement breather hose in spring 2019. Included maintenance records are shown in the gallery, and they list a new exhaust valve cover, oil sump gasket, valve cover gasket, chain tensioner, air filter, fuel filter insert, oil pressure adapter, and various other gaskets/seals between 2003–2010. A recent compression check reportedly revealed 130–135 psi in each cylinder.
Engine #6331755 and transaxle #7339259 both match the included Porsche Production Specifications certificate as original to this chassis. Additional factory numbers and markings are documented. Prior records also indicate replacement of the steering pan seal and front steering pan cover. The engine bay and underside were steam cleaned prior to this sale.
The window sticker lists delivery to Kendon Porsche Audi of Wilmington, California along with a $12,369.50 total price including optional equipment. The Porsche Production Specifications certificate records much of the same information as the window sticker.

Auction Description:
*Beautifully restored numbers matching, short-wheelbase 911
*One-year only 2.0 L model
*Excellent Porsche for road rallies or Sunday drives
*Offered with Porsche-issued Certificate of Authenticity, original tools, and spares
Completed at Porsches Zuffenhausen-based works on April 24th, 1968, this rare one-year-only 911L was finished in the same gorgeous combination that it currently sports today; Burgundy Red over a black leather interior. The car was equipped for the US market and optioned with a steering wheel lock, tinted Glass, Becker radio with antenna, fog lamps, leather headrests, an exterior mirror, and Dunlop tires.
The car is believed to have spent the majority, if not all, of its life in California. After having heard rumors from a friend that a 911 that was lying dormant in a California garage for the last 10 plus years, in April of 2014, the consignor was able to strike a deal and purchase the incredibly original and unmolested 911L. Upon acquiring the car, a full nut-and-bolt restoration was begun. The body was taken down to the bare metal before being refinished in its original color, and the interior was re-trimmed in black leather. While the car was disassembled, virtually every piece of rubber was renewed. The original, numbers drivetrain was also fully rebuilt. The engine was line bored, the crankshaft ground, and hardened cylinders honed with new "JE" forged pistons with 9.5-1 compression ratio were fitted. During the rebuild, the engine was upgraded with "E" cams and big valve "S" type heads – the original heads and cams were retained and will accompany the car along with an original tool roll, jack and spare, and COA. All of the machine work was completed by Lesco in San Luis Obispo. The transmission was rebuilt by Porsche mechanic and racer, Greg Smith of Morro Bay. During the assembly, new brakes, a new clutch, pressure plate, and exhaust system was fitted.
The serious Porsche collector seeking an early 911 coupe ready to be enjoyed on their favorite backroad or competing for trophies at their local gatherings need to look no further than this outstanding example. With its handsome color combination and excellent details, this restored, sorted coupe is ready to make its next owner proud.

Dealer Description:
This 1967 Porsche 911S followed in those footsteps during the recent restoration. Some simple modifications in tune with the “sports-purpose” mantra for many early 911s.
Beginning with the engine, a complete overhaul was specified. The factory original engine case was damaged many years ago, so a replacement blank case was used for the restoration, which has been re-stamped as 960617. The original engine case (#960617) is included with the car, and upon inspection and discussion, it may still be possible to repair it if desired. Furthermore, the car has just finished it’s 500-mile break-in period and has just had an oil/filter change in May 2019.
The car features the original numbers and type matching 901 transmission case (#103618), fully rebuilt with stock internals, plus the addition of a Quaife limited slip differential. It shifts smoothly into all gears and is a treat to drive on back roads.
Suspension duties are handled with a few bolt on upgrades as well, utilizing LWB front suspension components, and adjustable sway bars front and rear. Dampening is handled by Koni shocks at all four corners. Original 1967 911S front suspension components are included with the car.
For the wheels and tires, the sports purpose theme continues, and the car is currently running a set of Fuchs sized 15x6 and 15x7R, finished in a frosted RSR look by Harvey Weidman. Michelin TB15 tires in a slightly staggered set-up were chosen to wrap around the Fuchs – 15/60 R15 up front, and 18/60 R15 out back.
All bare metal was restored and replaced as needed before the original shade of Polo Red was applied once again to the car. All trim and rubber is new and/or refurbished and Sekurit original glass is in place other than the front windshield. Deco trim, bumperettes, and all the lights are new as well during the restoration. Currently featuring fog/driving lights under the bumper, the cover plates are included and have also been restored and painted Polo Red at the same time, providing you the option for either look.
The interior is all fresh as well – carpets, headliner, seating surfaces, dash, gauges, door panels. All stock other than the later style seats that feature houndstooth/pepita inserts. The upgraded seats are very comfortable and could easily be switched for standard seats as desired. For interior comfort, the car was optioned with a factory Webasto heater. The heater has been restored and is in place, but not connected at this time due to safety concerns. The large diameter steering wheel keeps the SWB flavor alive during the driving experience.

Dealer Description:
We have recently completed a full Concours restoration and are now offering for sale a 1968 Porsche 911S finished in Tangerine with black leatherette interior. The car is matching numbers with VIN # 118.0.1121 and a complete restoration was performed by us in our facility in Costa Mesa. This car is very nicely optioned with Webasto Heater, S-Trim, fog lights and the extremely rare Map Light. Due to stricter emissions testing, Porsche did not import the 68’ 911S into the United States for fear that it would fail, for this reason 68 911S models that were eventually imported to the United States are extremely coveted and rare to see. This was also the last year of the SWB 911’s with Porsche increasing the wheelbase in 1969.
The first owner of the car, was a doctor who lived in La Jolla, California at the time and apparently had either family or friend connections to the Porsche family. He owned the car for 3 short years before selling it to the current owner Jim Hennessey. Jim first became aware of the car in 1971, through the doctors son, whom he was friends with. The doctor always kept the car in the garage at his house and rarely drove it. One day, in 1971, Jim had the opportunity to drive the car, which had only accumulated 7,000 miles over 3 years. He was so enthralled by the experience he sold his Corvette and convinced the doctor to sell him the Porsche. He has been the sole owner ever since. Jim enjoyed the car for years until putting it in storage with the idea to restore it one day. In 2015, we pulled the car out of Jim’s storage unit in Irvine, California where it had sat for 40 years. The car is matching numbers, very original and was in great condition. After recovering from storage, we started a complete restoration which took nearly 2 years to complete.
We have hundreds of photos detailing the restoration during various stages. Everything we do is photographed and uploaded to a flash drive which will be included with the sale of the vehicle. All invoices detailing the costs of the restoration will also be included. This is an extremely well documented car. We log hundreds of hours during our Concours restoration making sure every detail is correct.
This matching numbers car comes with a great history, original Kardex, owners manual, tool kit and jack. (Jim opted to install a period Prototipo steering wheel but an original will be included with purchase). Well documented cars are harder and harder to come by these days and lucky for you, this car hadn't moved for 40 years. The “original” owner Jim had no intention of selling the car after the restoration was complete but due to unforeseen personal circumstances we are now offering it for sale.

Dealer Description:
CPR Classic is thrilled to introduce one of the most beautiful, blue-chip, show-quality restorations that CPR has ever produced. This 1967 Porsche 911S soft-window targa is a fully restored, rotisserie restoration that was completed here at CPR Classic several years ago.
The car is a completely numbers matching example finished in its correct color combination of light ivory over a black leather interior. The car underwent a comprehensive every-nut-and-bolt restoration to the highest standards with CPR and has been in a noteworthy collection for the last several years since completion. The car was driven extremely sparingly during this time and was regularly started, warmed up and kept detailed in the collector's climate-controlled facility.
Upon returning to CPR, the car arrived in essentially as-delivered condition with no flaws or damage of any kind. We thoroughly inspected the car addressing a few minor items as well as performing a complete service and detail.
The most collectible, valuable, and sought after short-wheelbase 911s are the Soft window 911S targas of 1967. This example is one of a believed 360 911S soft window targa units produced in 1967 by Porsche, of which only a handful remain. Soft window targas are exceedingly rare compared to the production numbers of coupes and thus have become the most desirable short wheelbase 911 in the current market today.
If you are looking for a Pebble Beach quality Porsche that stands an excellent chance of winning any show event it's entered in; this is a must-see example.

This 1969 Porsche 911S coupe was purchased new in Indianapolis, Indiana and modified a few years later by the original owner with fender flares, a roll bar, and a few other items. The car was then sold in 1980 and sat idle until a mechanical refurbishment was carried out in the late 1990s. A few thousand miles have been added over the last two decades, and a repaint in Polo Red was performed a few years ago. Power is provided by a numbers-matching 2.0L flat-six, which is paired with the original five-speed manual transaxle. The car was acquired about 10 months ago by the seller, who is the proprietor of a Porsche repair facility and had an engine-out service performed over the winter of 2018/2019 as outlined below. Fiberglass ST-style bumpers were also installed by the seller’s shop along with 15″ Braid wheels, sport seats with houndstooth inserts, a 380mm Classico steering wheel, and a 917-style wooden shift knob. This LWB 911S is now offered with service records, a Porsche build sheet, and a clean Illinois title in the seller’s name.
1,492 US-market 911S coupes were produced for the 1969 model year, and this non-sunroof example was reportedly fitted with steel ST fender flares in 1974 by the original owner. The car was repainted in its factory Polo Red (6802) in 2016, and in 2018 the seller added color-matched ST-style fiberglass bumpers from EB Motorsport, as well as blacked-out horn grilles. European-style headlight rings have also been added, and paint chips are highlighted in the gallery below.
15″ Braid wheels feature an RSR-style finish and measure 8″ in width up front and 10″ out back. 215/55 and 270/45 Michelin TB15 tires display 2017 and 2018 date codes respectively. Cross-drilled brake rotors have been added all around, and a new master cylinder was installed earlier this year by the seller’s shop. The car also features a remote oil cooler mounted in the front fender well.
The seller’s shop installed LeMans T85 sports seats from Classic Touring, as well as a 917-style wooden shift knob from TRE Motorsports. The leather-covered roll bar and rear luggage straps were reportedly added by the original owner, and the car is also equipped with Deist harnesses.
A leather-wrapped 380mm steering wheel from Classico fronts a set of silver-dot VDO gauges. 55k miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer, approximately 100 of which have been added by the seller.
A strut tower brace is mounted up front, and both batteries and ground straps were replaced by the seller earlier this year.
The 2.0L flat-six was equipped with Bosch mechanical fuel injection from the factory in S trim. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 901 five-speed manual transaxle. In the winter of 2018/2019, the seller’s shop, Perfect Power Inc. of Buffalo Grove, Illinois, performed an engine-out reseal and also replaced a number of oil lines, the fuel pump, valve cover gaskets, fuel filters, and more as detailed on the included invoices.
Stamping *6391514* is shown above and matches the number listed on documentation from Porsche, indicating engine originality. Transaxle stamping 7196200 can be seen in the gallery and also matches the supporting documentation.
Additional underside photos are included in the gallery, showing the lower valve covers, heat exchangers, front pan, and oil cooler.
[picture of Kardex]
A Porsche build document lists the factory powertrain numbers, colors, and options. A video presentation provided by the seller can be seen below.

So does that mean there's a problem if there is no record of the VIN on the ESR?

ESR is a bunch of enthusiasts, not the ultimate word on the whereabouts of these cars. As a potential buyer I think it would help knowing that someone on the forum may be familiar with the car or there is a FS record in the car's past, but I wouldn't focus on that.
More of them surface over time, due to going up for sale or change of ownership.
That is a no excuses price for an early S, one with what looks like incorrectly patterned leather on the re-upholstered sport seats. A very pretty car though

Dealer Description:
CPR Classic is greatly pleased to offer one of the finest examples of a long-hood 911 that we have ever restored or sold. This 1970 911S is a two-owner example that was delivered new at El Camino Porsche Audi in San Carlos, California.
The original owner ordered the car at the factory in Stuttgart and provided a blue leather sample to have the interior completed in. The story and particular interior color are documented through the car's history and its Certificate of Authenticity (CoA). The interior is listed as "Leather to Sample" on the CoA. Several years ago, when the car arrived at CPR for its restoration, the original interior was still intact. This allowed us to replicate the identical color and inserts that the car was originally delivered with from the factory.
The original owner who purchased the car had it regularly serviced at DM Motors in Palo Alto, California. The original owner and the owner of DM Motors were long-time friends, and when the original owner passed in 2012, the owner of DM Motors purchased the 911S from his family. He then commissioned CPR to complete a concours-level restoration.
The car retains all of its original metal and is one of the straightest, unmolested 911s that we have ever restored. It also has every piece of documentation since new- to include every brochure, manual, service records, warranty book, yearly registrations, photos of the car throughout its lifetime, and much more. This car is, without a doubt, the best-documented early 911 we have ever encountered with a complete verifiable history. It is also a rare delight to see a story where the gentleman that worked on this 911S for years and years, ended up purchasing it 40+ years later and carried forward the car's unique story and history.
Also of note, the front and rear over-rider bars were installed early in the car's life. The second owner chose to restore the vehicle to exactly as it had been equipped when he serviced the car throughout its life.
This example is one of the more distinctive long-hood 911s still in existence today with its unmatched history and documentation. It should not be missed by any collector or enthusiast looking for a perfectly documented 911.
Original options for the car (as shown on its CoA) include:
-US equipment
-Rear wiper
-Blaupunkt radio
-Comfort equipment (air conditioning)
-Tinted glass all around
-Electric sunroof

Auction Description:
- The D-series (August 1970-July 1971) was one of the most desirable early 911 models
- The 911S 2.2 was fitted with the 2195cc, SOHC, Flat-6, Type 911/02 engine
- Power output was now 180bhp at 6,500rpm, giving it a top speed of 138 mph/ 0-60 in seven seconds
- This example was UK-delivered from new and retains its original matching numbers engine
- Subject to a significant body restoration during 2015 but would benefit from further detailing
- The 2.2 S is a rare car and appears very sensibly guided to reflect the current market
This lovely 1971, 911S 2.2 has been with our vendor since 1991 and has been used by him and his wife ever since, mainly as their daily driver, and regularly serviced by Porsche service centres near his place of work in London and his home near Exeter. Most recently it has been kept in Devon and only used occasionally weather permitting. Whilst in his ownership it has been subject to partial bodywork restorations, firstly in 2000 which saw a £15,000 spend with KD Motor Engineers in Cheshire and secondly in 2015 which saw £30,000 spent with the work organised by Porsche Exeter. The result is a very honest and eminently usable 911S which could certainly be enjoyed as is. Our vendor contacted Porsche Reading to gain confirmation that it retains the original engine and by the time of the sale it may come with the Porsche Letter of Conformity. It has had six previous owners and may have been subject to a colour change at some time.
With 911S 2.2s becoming increasingly rare in the market place, this much-enjoyed example would make a sensible investment or is simply ready to be driven as intended.

Indeed it was. I was at the auction on Saturday and had a closer look at this one after the hammer went down at that price, as I was intrigued. Very tatty interior, seats and door panels needed sorting (cleverly most of the damage is 'just out of shot' in the photographs), underfloor had lots of patchwork but otherwise intact from what I could see, non-original colour exterior but reasonably tidy. Didn't get to hear the engine run or check the condition of the chassis, but could have been a good driver-level entry into the S world for someone.

Auction Description:
•One of only 729 examples of the 2.2-litre 'S' Targa built
•Long-time owned by the Auburn Automotive Heritage Museum (1982-2015)
•Recently completed professional full restoration
•Bills totalling over €120,000 available
The car offered here is one of the rare C-programme (1970) 911S Targa models with the 2.2-Litre engine, only 729 of which were produced, and with 180bhp on tap was one of the two most powerful models in the range, the other being the 911S coupé. A matching-numbers example, chassis number '9110310513' was delivered new to the USA and is believed to have been on static display for most of its life (1982-2015) at Auburn Automotive Heritage in Indiana from where the current owner bought the car.
Well preserved, the Porsche did not need a full restoration but the perfectionist owner wanted it to be perfect and commissioned a full 'last nut and bolt' restoration. It is offered fresh from the completion of this concours-standard restoration (undertaken between 2015 and 2019) and comes with a photographic record and invoices totalling over €120,000. The latter total includes bills of €25,000 for the engine rebuild. Originally finished in Burgundy with beige/tan interior, the car now has Pepita interior trim (the expensive and difficult to find door pockets are new).
Driven barely 100 kilometres since completion, the Targa is presented in excellent condition throughout. At the time of cataloguing the final suspension adjustment had yet to be carried out, hence the car's low appearance in the photographs. A highly desirable top-of-the-range model in a very attractive colour-combination, this superb Porsche 911S Targa is worthy of the closest inspection. The car is offered with Belgian registration papers, old US title, and the aforementioned restoration invoices and an incredible amount of restoration photos.

This car also boasts a very rare Light Ivory/Red basket colour combination: we are not able to recover production numbers with these specifications, but considering that Porsche has produced only 442 cars of this model for the whole world, and checking the offer present on the international scene, we consider this color combination an absolute rarity. The chassis no. 11850424 has been completely restored and is in pristine condition.
