It looks like a GREAT car, judging the car by the photos and description in his ebay ad

Chassis # 0089 with engine # 1324?
Does that seem correct?
Just asking because mine is much closer together than that.

I have # 9112300023 with engine # 6320034. Mine is the same color but no A/C. I think it looks really good. I didn't see a list of options. Maybe I missed it. -Scott

I thought the same thing. He states in the auction, "As of this posting, I have been unable to locate the original owners manual which most importantly included the original purchase invoice. It will be included if I can find it."
If he "finds it", maybe the engine serial number would be revealed on the invoice.
Hmm that's interesting to see Scott/Longballa's info above on his vehicle# :engine# sequence, as compared to the '72S on ebay currently which OP ref'd to begin this thread.
Add'l data point- here's a Euro silver '72S which sold at a Paris auction house two weeks ago with VIN/engine numbers about '600 apart. http://cgi.liveauctions.ebay.com/502...spagenameZWDVW
---------------------------------------------------------------
For anyone who's interested- the Paris '72S sold 11/16/08 with only 25K km for $78.2K to a live bidder in Paris (but buyer's premium and hefty VAT% brought total tab to $97K !). I wish there were more pics/info about this one, but even the Artcurial auction house site reveals nothing add'l to the ebay link.

"with VIN/engine numbers about '600 apart"
That would seem about right for a higher number car. Mine is a Jan. '72
car w/numbers 243 apart.

The owner has posted a note that he left off a "1" at the end of the VIN, so the chassis is 0891, which is within the normal numbers for chassis vs. engine.
Beautiful car.
