What is my 1965 901/01 worth?

I recently purchased a 1965 901/01 with Solex 40 for my 1969. Motor had been sitting for 20 plus years and the previous owner gave me his word that when he was ready to sell the motor I would be first up. Lucky me, upon my return from Bahrain, there the motor sits in the poring rain. I kept my word and purchased the motor. Lately, I have been burning the midnight oil, tore the motor down for inspection and please to find that the motor was freshly rebuild before layup. I'm now ready to order parts for rebuilding.

At the end of the day I still will not have the 1969 911S with MFI motor I need. So, I might let the motor go to a fellow S Registry and Pelican Parts member that has a 1965 car. Not much on the web for me to estimate fair market value, so please assist.

Of course, its greatest value is to the owner of the proper chassis (probably 3017XX or so), but if complete, I think the current market value is in the $20K range. I should suggest that if you plan on selling it, sell it as it is, apart, so the new owner can get a warrantied build from a shop they are comfortable with rather than doing it yourself (no offense, you may be the best engine builder on the planet, but most of us have our favorite shops).

My thoughts exactly on the $20K range. The complete Solex set up with the Pierburg dual pump, air cleaner housing, and linkages are worth around 8K by themselves. Hopefully the entire motor is actually there and a few parts didn't get lost somewhere along the 20 year layover.
