    Poor throttle response

So as I prepare for the drive to Cambria, I figured I'd spend some time on the car and
see if I can figure why my throttle response has been "lacking". Pulled the cap and my
rotor barely budges. YIKES! No to little spark advance. Pulled the distributor, took it apart
down below the points plate. Couple questions...Does the drive gear pin press out or does it need
to be drilled? If I press it out, can I re-use it? (I'm running out of time to order parts)
I cleaned it up the other night (the best I could without removing the drive gear)
and put a dab of tri-flow lube on the pivot points. After sitting a day, I checked the rotor,
and it feels stiff again. Should the weights be dry? They were snapping back an hour after lubing.

    Thanks in advance,
    Dave

There should be a felt wick under the rotor (down in the distributor shaft) That is where one shaft rotates on another and should have oil put on that wick every time the points are serviced. Take the wick out and put your favorite lube down the hole and keep working the shaft. That might free it up better. The pin for the drive gear is peened at both ends, so needs one end ground down before driving out, generally NOT reuseable.

    Thanks Ed,

It's currently running an optical pick-up. I sprayed some MAF sensor cleaner thru it
to "dry" it out. The weights swing freely now. It needs to come apart for a full service.
Thanks for the heads up on the pin.

I've got an industrial sized tube of bosch distributor grease if you want to borrow it Dave.

Thanks Kent...think I'll have it gone thru
between Treffen and Monterey. I want someone
with a distributor machine to dial it in.
