    Help with engine identification?

    I have an engine from an old Sports Racer from the 70's that I'm trying to identify. The numbers on it are
    901/06, 611 7269 SFPD11c. Attached are two pictures. Can you help me with what each of these numbers signify?
    Thank you,
    Rich

    1966 912. My first car. Bought it Nov. 25, 1988. Still have it.

    Also, the heads are dated 1/67, 3/67, and 6/67.

    6 = 6-Zyl.-Motor
    1 = 911 T
    1 = Modell 71
    last four are sequential production number

    The earlier heads are intriguing and most likely associated in some way with the engines race heritage.

    can you post another close up of the number on the face adjacent to the SFPD number. Is that number 611 like you have stated or really upside down and 119?
    I suspect it is 119 and it has been stamped there to make it clear that the badly stamped SFPD119 on the other face really is 119
    are there any casting dates on it?

    A 901/06 engine comes from a 1967 or 1968 car with engine numbers like 911xxx 0r 308xxxx
    I am guessing that this was a stolen engine at one time and the numbers filed off and then a "police identity" given to it when it was recovered. If so that police identity would not have tried to establish the original number but we (probably Davep) can probably deduce from the type number (901/06) and the build number (7269) roughly what the real number should have been, but casting dates would make that more certain.

    Given it is a lowish build number i would guess that it is from the 911001 - series of 1967 911's
    From Dave's list Build #7260 belongs to 901/06 engine 911166 built in September 1966 so it should be within 10 numbers of that (probably less)
    build 7305 is 911183 and build 7311 is 911186

    Hugh, I think you are right that it is probably a 119 to correct the first poor stamping of the SFPD number. I'll take some pictures of the
    casting dates. This is the engine that I gave info for Dave's registry a few years back. Thanks for the help so far.

    Could that be Ernie W's badge number? If it isn't, he might be able to provide some insight, though. Very interesting!

    The date stamp seems to have 7 dots around the year; seventh month. I would have expected 8 or 9; can you confirm the dots on both of the case halves please.
