2 1/2 years later.....ok, my father-in-law (85 at the time) and his young lady friend (78) flew to Milwaukee and picked up the LC for me. They took about 10 days to make the trek and enjoyed a great journey hitting Mount Rushmore and then west to Montana. His highlight was visiting the kennel (Idaho I think) where his GSP hunting dog was born. They had a great time and I was happy to provide the transportation vehicle.

The FJZ80 is a great vehicle; it has soul and character in the same way our little rear engined air coolers do. My Cruiser has required some deep maintenance. A new head gasket (ouch), brakes, some motor & tranny mounts, shocks, springs and a few other things. We have put 25,000 miles in it so it's been pressed into service. From our home in San Diego we taken trips to Montana, Colorado (2x), SF, Mammoth (lots), local camping and the real reason I bought the rig, quail hunting in northern Baja, Mexico. It can go anywhere, it's reliable, reasonably comfortable, sucks gas and I don't care a lick about dirt, dust, water, dogs or kid abuse. And just last week, when I had new rotors and pads installed the mechanic advised me that my truck was going up in value and he had a list of people on the lookout for an 80 series. I think I'll keep it in the fleet....

$10,500 for the LC. 133,000 miles with great maintenance records from new. Here is it when I towed my ST from Sacramento back to San Diego.

That's awesome Nick! The best part is it sounds like you've been using it as intended.
