Though the tests seem to confirm it.

I have them all in my garage.
Do yourself a favor and ignore those tests. especially the ones from the so-called independent sites (like radartests.com, etc). They're all money-making schemes with no credibility (take it from a guy in the business). Even the mainstream tests (like the Jan 2014 test from Car & Driver) can exhibit bias. Interesting read:

    http://www.kcconfidential.com/2014/0...detector-test/

    From the article:

“Although the V1′s range matches or slightly exceeds the Passport’s in some cases, the Passport’s near elimination of false alarms provides a higher level of real world protection.”

    That’s it, boys and girls.

So Passport’s the new champ despite Valentine matching or beating it in sensitivity?

If you're ever in Texas, give me a ring and I'll show you something interesting. I promise, you'll change your tune afterwards. Some of the other brands are building very good detectors these days but the V1 is still the most sensitive radar detector available. it does false alarm more often, no doubt, but that comes along with the sensitivity.

What I appreciate is the lockout - manually or automatically - of the false alarms that are predictably in the same location.
Which requires the gps. Combined with photo camera etc updates.

It means when the alarm goes off I react.

But that might just be optimizing to my use.

    Cheers!

I agree. That's a great feature. As much as I like the range of the V1, I do find myself wishing they'd consider adding some of these cool new features.

Does it reduce the range any if you put it in the rear like that?

    No, not at all.

Does anyone have any experience with Escort's Lazer ShifterPro https://www.escortradar.com/lasershifterpro/

I also own a V1 and have been for several years but it does not have the capability to return a false reading when hit with a lazar gun. I spoke with an Escort Rep a few years ago at LimeRock and he mentioned that this would be a nice addition to the V1. Any thoughts?

I've got it as part of the 9500ci from Passport on my Range Rover and 997.2

Has worked perfectly in the Houston area.

Did you do the install yourself? It doesn't look too complicated to mount on a car but they recommend having it "Professionally" installed.
