    How do i remove these?

I'm fitting a 79SC engine into my 70T. the engine was a sportomatic, but i will fit it to my manual 915 gearbox.... I thought this was going to be easy, however, it seems to be getting more complex. Latest problem is the removal of 2 pins on the camshaft. These used to drive an oil pump that was connected to the sporto gearbox. I need to remove them to fit the plug that goes into the end of the camshaft housing. Any idea how i do that?

Here's a pic of the offending pins at the end of the camshaft

    Paul,

They're just a press fit pin. Get some small vise grips on them.

Just tried pulling them out with some mole grips. Result: pins are now crushed but won't move - not good. Any other ideas?

If they're not just coming out with you twisting them, I'd try some heat. They should just twist/pull out.

Tap a thread in the pin and fit a bolt in it, it doesn't widen the pin as a metal screw will. Then pull/slide or pry it out.

After a lot of perserverence and wiggling, i finally managed to extract the pins. I then gently tapped in the replacement plug with a small amount of gasket sealant. Many thanks for your advice.
