'73 "S" Canadian Tourist Delivery Car

I own a 73S that was ordered thru the Canadian Tourist Delivery Program. Currently undergoing a complete restoration. Question is did the Canadian cars late '72(mine was an early 73S October build date) and '73 get delivered with the large bumperettes front and rear like US cars? I think not but cannot verify. COA doesn't reflect US equipment either. Looking forward to some feedback on this.

Conventional wisdom says that the ‘73s delivered and sold before Jan ‘73 were not subject to the new US DOT rules mandating the rubber bumper overriders. While I’m not sure about a Canadian delivery car, there was a small window of time where early ‘73 cars were delivered with “transitional” black plastic coated steel bumper overriders. These were identicle to the previous chrome version, but had a black plastic dip on them.

What are the last 4 digits of your VIN? I’ve got an October ‘72 car (US delivered) with the vin 0306.

    Oct '72 Vin #.......0208..
Didn't know that USDOT took effect 1/73.
A reliable source told me that if the COA didn't show US Equipment then it didn't come with those large bumperettes. So a '72 style bumperette would have applied. Not sure what would be correct. Ive seen some 73's that have no front bumperettes at all.

Does anyone have any pictures of what these bumperettes looked like?

Yep, just like the chrome ones.... but black
I’ve got them on my car in the rear. Not only are they likely correct for your build, but they look much better than the chrome w the black accents (grills, signal lenses) IMO

Most Canadian cars were very similar to USA models. I think Canadian equipment included rear window defrost and heavy duty batteries when available. Also included were English & French manuals and Canadian warranty books. Specifications used Imperial gallons instead of US gallons.
