    Question on 1966 coupe underneath treatment

    Question for all you body/resto guys:

    I have scraped and brushed and heat gunned (though not in that order) the underneath of my car and want to get the best treatment(s) to make it last long and look original!!

    I have searched the forum using the 'good' search tools i.e, google search, to find out what people have done in the past and it seems there are a variety of options and products... usually I read the word "schutz".

    My question therefore is threefold:

    (i) does schutz get applied directly to bare metal?

    (ii) if I was using current Wurth products, which one is the most appropriate to my car? and

    (iii) do I apply something over the schutz?

    Stephen,

    I'd put a good coat of epoxy primer down. A lot of people use POR15, but I'm not a fan.

    I like to get rid of any rust, and then epoxy.

    A lot of people don't put the SKS down. I did as it was what was there.

    I sprayed all my black SKS with satin black 2pac, for extra insurance, but that's me, and I had the paint there to do other sections of the car.

    I then did squares of Dynamat, for extra anti drumming, to replace the tar sheeting. Just bang on the floor from underneath and add as required until it doesn't sound like a tin can.

    I then glued closed cell foam to the back of my carpet, to replace the coir fiber matting that was stuck to the origional carpet. ( allows you to remove the carpet ).

    that is interesting to see what you did inside the car, but my question was more directed at the underneath of the car...

    Removed the origional coating.

    Media blasted, epoxy, seam sealed, SKS and then sprayed satin black 2pac
