    Help identifying this engine

Have a lead on a 914/6 with an interesting engine, but i am not sure what it actually is. Has Bosch MFI, engine number starts with 6360 but can't find anything with MFI combined such a serial number? It sounds badass and seems to have massive horsepower. Whatizit?

Can you get any other numbers off of it? Seems like it may be a 76 2.7 liter motor from what I can find in the technical manuals?

636 would be a 1976 911 engine, but those all had CIS? Whats the part number is on the MFI pump?

actually, are you certain about the 6360? could it be 663???? That would be a 2.7 MFI, and a REALLY good one at that....

Where do I find this? It is hard to even determine the engine number, it is really crammed in there... I will check the MFI pump number.

Try not to get his hopes up too high. That MFI is not an RS injection. That is a '71 and earlier MFI. Those stacks were last used in '71 and the pump has an all magnesium body. As far as when Bosch began using aluminum on the regulator portions of the pump, what I do know is that I have a July of '72 pump that is all magnesium, and I have a Sep/'72 pump that has an aluminum regulator housing. Most likely we are looking at an S injection from a '70 to '71. RS stacks were the same plastic stacks used on the 2.4S. We'll need the engine number to determine what case the engine is built on. That could be anything. The shroud didn't start using that oil cooler ducting until '70.

Thank you for the info. I will try and get the engine number. Here is the MFI Pump. It looks like number 0408 or 0409.

Wait a second, the number on that pump looks like an 013 pump from here. The last 3 digits are the important ones. That is the european 911 2.4S pump. Those pumps are fairly valuable. I had an 013 pump that I sold a 6 months back. The 013 pumps are real screamers. It looks like the number above the 0408 starts with 131? That would mean that this pump was built in Nov. of '71, and was used on a '72 2.4S. Very desirable pump to be sure. You can bet that car is fast. The 013 pump provided better performance than the U.S. 021 pumps. Pumped a bit more fuel I think. Other's who have run 021 pumps, and 013 pumps will attest to the 013's higher rating on the fun scale. The other advantage that this setup has is the stacks from a daily driver point of view. The plastic stacks used on the 2.4S setups, the "312" stacks, could melt when exposed to excessive backfiring or malfunctioning cold start systems. The stacks on this engine are magnesium and wouldn't be susceptible to melting. I can only imagine how fun that car must be.
