Why don't we do away with all of this tortured speculation and just create an early 911 exchange? That way, I can check in every day to see how much my precious cars have increased in value. Even better, I can put a ticker up on my screen so I can track their values in real time. They only go up, right?

A friend of mine, knowing my two passions (well, three if you include the Beatles, but i digress) has taken me inside a project he's working on that has given him (and now me) access to a massive amount of collector vehicle pricing and sales data . . . been playing with the data as it relates to our cars and I'm having the time of my life.

I'll be sharing some of my findings here in the near future but wanted to also ask all of you: If you had access to this kind of data, what might you go looking for? . . .

. . . how'd all this turn out?

'Cause I'm thinking --- more and more . . . that looking at prices-paid is kinda backwards
