Thread: Scam Cars for Sale

  1. #151

    Vin: 119301081

The car was for sale at a broker/dealer Heritage Cars, Bagijnestraat 18A, Delft 2611 AT, The Netherlands.
I wonder what the actual sale price is/was ?

Hotclassicdeals, anyone had contact with this site?

    http://hotclassicdeals.com/details.php?id=414

Their prices are very good, too good..... Have seen cars here advertised else where, for 4 times the price...
A guy name "Shane Moore" , apparently a director of photo in Discovery, Deadliest Catch, answered my mail regarding a 912 here. He said he will come back to me when he is back from filming in february.....
This kind of story is also mentioned in a US car site but I have not found any other comments on this guy and site??

    Scam on Craigslist

Some of you may have already seen this. It may have been posted previously. I wasn't aware.

    The Bait:

...what looks to be pretty much original 68 911L.....supposedly local so that I could inspect

    bait 2.jpg

    The troll:

    There were only 4 photos
The "owner" had recently moved to another state.
    He texted in broken English
He priced the car very reasonably and was willing to talk
He had never sold a car privately before
When I said I would send somebody to inspect he stated he wanted the inspection done by a local "reputable inspection company"
After a slight delay, while he looked up the phone number, he sent me the info.
When I asked for another photo of the car's VIN he said he would provide it only after I arranged the appointment with the inspector to confirm that I was a real buyer.

    The fish spooked.

    The Hook:

Provide credit card data to the inspection company

    The ad is still active

This is one of many scams by Allen Alfiler. He is a master of the: ‘it’s NOT too good to be true’ add.

    Here is an example:

    https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/6454900071.html

    Rusty porsche for $9500.

Seems plausible. Might feel like a good deal but definitely not too good to be true like most scams. He is not afraid to discuss the car over the phone either. There is a website devoted to him here:
