    Oil Temperature Poll

Just curious as to what everyone is experiencing for oil temperatures, what they are doing for cooling, and what oil they are running. I run liqui moly 10-60, and my oil temps at freeway cruising are around 210-225 in 85 degree ambient temps. (3600rpms/70mph)

I have the euro brass front cooler. I also have the smaller, SC fan pulley.... wonder if that matters?

180-190. Oil emps normally track outside temps. I only get up to 200 in stop and go traffic in 100 weather. I use Castrol GTX 20-50. 1970 911 with front oil cooler.

I can second this (2.2S) but with Castrol Classic 20W50. Hottest I’ve ever seen was 185°F on a 100°F day. Thought the thermostat(s) were broken but they all work as they should...

2.7 RS clone motor with oil lines but no front cooler. Usually around 180 in 70 degree weather on BP 20-50. On rare hot 90+ days can get up to 210 on fast 5000+ RPM uphill freeway runs.

In comparison have a 3.0 SC mod into 3.2 with hotter cams and 10:1 comp pistons. Front turbotrol cooler and it runs 200-210 with same oil and 220-230 when run harder in hot weather.

    Just above 180 normal ...
210 in the heat and/or driving hard....
Much hotter then that at a SoCal track in August...

But even at 210, it recovers so fast that in 20 min. I'll have to use the hand throttle to start it....
These old cars run damn pretty cool.....

    Interesting tidbit...

Rate of conventional oil oxidation doubles for every 18 degrees F above 150 F
