This ad is a little confusing. Al Holbert didn't own his own Porsche team until the mid 80s and prior to that he was driving IMSA Dekon Monzas. He became PNAs Motorsports Director just after his Dekon Monza stint. In the early 70's he began driving a privateer effort out of his Dad's (Bob Holbert) VW- Porsche dealership. If there is a Holbert connection with this car, I believe it would be thru Bob Holbert's dealership as Bob was also a racer.

There's a '73 Holbert car coming up at the Mecum auction in Monterey. These cars are tricky to verify. Owners usually never took title to the cars. They just slapped dealer tags on the car and used them. When they sold them the dealer tags came off and then they got another demo. We go through this all the time with the Brumos cars.

The Porsche dealership was actually down the street from Bob Holbert's VW Audi store. All of the claims need real documentation. You better get paper work with the cars. I would want a PA title with AL Holbert's name on it.

'. . . chassis 9113301276, was ordered new by IMSA Camel GT champion Al Holbert. Delivered new to the US it has the large rubber bumperettes both front and rear, as well as thick headlight rings to accommodate standard seal-beam headlights as required by Amercian federal standards. The car was fully restored by Graham Everitt and sold at the 2012 Daytime Auction by Mecum for $91,000 USD . . .'
